Hannity Repeatedly Challenges Muslim Woman Who Angered Benghazi Panelist to Decry Extremism: ‘Will You Speak Out Against Shariah?’

Jun. 20, 2014 10:29am

Just days after author and terrorism expert Brigitte Gabriel made headlines for firmly responding to American University law student Saba Ahmed’s question during a panel discussion about Benghazi, TV host Sean Hannity decried radicalism and challenged Ahmed, a Muslim, to also speak out against it.

Hannity, who had Ahmed and Gabriel on his show Thursday, said that he doesn’t hear enough moderate Muslims decrying acts of violence, noting that women who live under Shariah law are often forced to wear headscarves, are banned from driving vehicles and need four male eyewitnesses to prove rape, among other regulations.
“Well, I mean I’m not being forced as a Muslim women to wear the headscarf,” Ahmed responded. ”I don’t think anybody should be telling people … what to wear … it’s their choice.”
But Hannity said that wasn’t his point, continuing to press Ahmed, asking whether she will “speak out against Shariah as it’s implemented.”
“I’m not speaking out, I’m just defending my right to wear the headscarf,” she responded, skirting the direct question.
Hannity wasn’t done there, though. He asked her to speak up for women’s rights globally — and she responded that “every country has its own traditions, laws and culture.”
Still unsatisfied and looking for a more direct answer, he asked whether she believes these customs are “wrong.”
“There are right and wrong customs everywhere,” Ahmed continued.
In the end, Hannity passionately maintained that violence is happening in the name of Islam and that he believes Ahmed and other believers should speak out.
“I’m against a lot of the barbaric practices around the world,” Ahmed said. “I think Islam has been misused by a lot of people.”

Grinning as he poses with a fearsome anti-aircraft gun, this is a young British Muslim who has swapped alcohol and nightclubs for violent jihad.
The former Aberdeen schoolboy was identified yesterday as the third Briton in a chilling recruitment video for the hardline Al Qaeda-linked terror group ISIS.
He was named as Abdul Raqib Amin by former acquaintances, who spoke of their shock at seeing the keen footballer and ‘hyper, energetic lad’ boast of waging holy war in Syria.

Fresh-faced: Nasser Muthana, then aged 11, spent a day learning how to be a butler as a child (left). Pictured right is the man believed to be Nasser, now 20, in the ISIS recruitment video

The jihadist was filmed alongside fellow British extremists Reyaad Khan and Nasser Muthana, both 20, urging other Muslims to fight for ISIS in the Middle East. Wearing wrap-around sunglasses and a white scarf around his head, Amin describes jihad as ‘the cure for depression’ in the video. Speaking in front of ISIS’s black flag, he says: ‘Are you willing to sacrifice the fat job you’ve got, the big car you’ve got, the family you have? Are you willing to sacrifice this, for the sake of Allah?

‘Definitely, if you sacrifice something for Allah, Allah will give you 700 times more than this.’

Pictures have also emerged of Muthana and his brother Aseel as high-achieving schoolboys growing up in Cardiff, years before Nasser was shown preaching Sharia law in a chilling online film.

The pair are believed to have fled their South Wales home without the knowledge of their family and travelled to Syria to join mujahideen fighting for ISIS.

Amin was born in Bangladesh but settled in Scotland as a child and went to primary and secondary school in Aberdeen before moving to Leicester with his family.
One person who knew Amin in Aberdeen said he enjoyed drinking alcohol and going to nightclubs as a young man, and would deal with any trouble ‘with his fists’.
‘He was a bit arrogant – a bit aggro, maybe something to prove. He ended up in a lot of fights,’ the man, who did not want to be identified, told the BBC. ‘To learn he’s accepted religion in such an extreme way is a bit shocking. Shocking because he’s a youth from Aberdeen who’s ended up somewhere like that.’
Amin attended St Machar Academy in the city and friends describe him as a well-integrated member of society who was a keen footballer player. It is understood he lived in the north of Aberdeen, near the city’s Mosque and Islamic Centre. Imam Sheikh Ibrahim Alwawi said last night: ‘We are shocked like everyone else.’

School days: The third British jihadist Reyaad Khan having fun with school friends in Cardiff before he left for the Middle East

It emerged yesterday that a second radical cleric preached at the Cardiff mosque attended by three other British jihadists now in Syria.
Muhammad Mustafa Al-Muqri has been linked to the Egyptian Islamist group Al-Gamaa al-Islamiya, which is banned by the Home Office as an ‘international terrorist organisation’. In 2006 Al Qaeda’s then-deputy leader Ayman al-Zawahiri claimed the cleric had joined his terror group – although this was strongly denied by Al-Gamaa al-Islamiya.
Al-Muqri was a regular speaker at the Al Manar Centre in Cardiff, where Khan, Muthana, and Muthana’s brother Aseel, 17, worshipped. Notorious Saudi cleric Mohammed al-Arifi, who called for jihad in Syria ‘in every way possible’, spoke at the mosque in 2012. In March the Home Office barred him from the UK.

As children the brothers, both high-achieving former pupils at St Mary the Virgin Church in Wales Primary School, Butetown, appeared in their local newspaper, the South Wales Echo.
In 2007 younger brother Aseel, then aged 10, was pictured in a striped T-shirt cheering alongside classmates as they celebrated a £400 donation from a mystery benefactor to buy books for the school.

Family: Nasser and Aseel's parents and youngest brother walk through their Cardiff estate. Their father believes his sons attended fanatical meetings at a local leisure centre

Two years earlier his brother Nasser, then just 11, spent a day learning the ropes as a butler at the five-star St David’s Hotel and Spa in Cardiff Bay as part of an initiative aimed at giving youngsters a better understanding of the hospitality industry.
In February Aseel fled Britain to fight in Syria after telling his parents he was staying at his friend's house ahead of a maths exam at his school.

But police then arrived at his home the following night after it emerged he had gained a second passport by lying about his age and was in Cyprus and about to sail to Syria.
Nasser was a star medical student who secretly travelled to Syria from his family home in Cardiff despite being offered the opportunity to study medicine by four universities.
His family have not seen him since November 2013.

On Friday footage of the pair emerged in a video named There is No Life Without Jihad, with Nasser saying he planned to fight in Iraq.
Nasser, wearing a white turban and using the name Abu Muthanna al-Yemeni, says in the 13-minute film: 'We are a state who is implementing the Sharia in both Iraq and the Sham.
'And look at the soldiers - we understand no borders. We have participated in battles in Sham and we will go to Iraq in a few days and we will fight there.

Denial: The Al Manar Centre, where the Muthana family worshipped, insists it is not a source of extremism and suggested the three young men were radicalised online

'We will even go to Lebanon and Jordan with no problems, wherever our Sheik [ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi] wants to send us.'

The brothers' father said yesterday that young Muslim men are radicalised by extremist preachers at ‘pop-up’ meetings in Cardiff – including one at a suburban leisure centre.
Ahmed Muthana, 57, said fanatics were leafleting Muslim communities in the Welsh capital seeking recruits for the jihad in Syria and Iraq.
‘I believe my two sons went to one of these meetings and now they are with the ISIS people in Syria,’ he added. ‘They never hold these meetings in the same place twice – they know what they are doing.’
The Al Manar Centre insists it is not a source of extremism and suggested the three young men were radicalised online.
A security check on Cardiff, ahead of a Nato summit to be attended by world leaders in nearby Newport in September, failed to identify a jihadist link, a senior source involved in the sweep said yesterday.
‘Somehow these guys who ended up in Syria were missed and that will be of great concern,’ the source added.

There are radical clerics in Britain preaching violent jihad in the mosques, and even on the streets. And young British Muslims are buying into their Bullshit. And until the British authorities either arrest these MFers for fomenting global jihad or at least deport them they are directly responsible for the murders around the world these scumbags commit. Around 500 Britons are believed to have travelled to Syria, where Isis militants are involved in fighting

The father of a British teenager who travelled to Syria to join jihadists believes his son was radicalised by an imam at a UK mosque.
Rahim Kalantar told the BBC his son Ali, 18, travelled to Syria with two friends from Coventry in March and believed he was now fighting with Isis.
He said he was sent "down this road" by an imam

He said he believed Ali - who was planning to study computer science at university - was radicalised during classes at a mosque after evening prayer.
"He [the imam] encouraged them and sent them down this road," he said.
The BBC contacted the mosque to speak to the imam, who refused to give an interview but said he completely denied the allegations.

[h=1]Georgia GOP candidate Jody Hice: Muslims not protected by the First Amendment[/h] By Eric W. Dolan
Monday, June 23, 2014 9:49 EDT
Rev-Jody-Hice-via-Facebook-615x345.png

A Republican candidate seeking to represent Georgia’s 10th U.S. House district believes that the First Amendment’s guarantee of religious liberty does not apply to followers of Islam.
“Although Islam has a religious component, it is much more than a simple religious ideology,” Rev. Jody Hice wrote in his 2012 book It’s Now Or Never, according to Atlanta Journal-Constitution. “It is a complete geo-political structure and, as such, does not deserve First Amendment protection.”
The House candidate also believes the Muslim Brotherhood is secretly infiltrating the United States in a plot to impose Sharia law on the entire country, a conspiracy theory he shares with Reps. Michele Bachmann (R-MN) and Louie Gohmert (R-TX).
Hice tied Mike Collins in the Georgia Republican primary in May, with each candidate getting about 34 percent of the vote. The winner of the July 22 runoff election will face Democrat Ken Dious in November.
Hice has previously said that Islam and the U.S. Constitution are incompatible.
“Most people think Islam is a religion, it’s not. It’s a totalitarian way of life with a religious component. But it’s much larger. It’s a geo-political system that has governmental, financial, military, legal and religious components. And it’s a totalitarian system that encompasses every aspect of life and it should not be protected (under U.S. law),” he told members of the Coweta County Tea Party Patriots in 2011, according to The Citizen.
“This is not a tolerant, peaceful religion even though some Muslims are peaceful. Radical Muslims believe that Sharia is required by God and must be imposed worldwide. It’s a movement to take over the world by force. A global caliphate is the objective,” he added.

[h=1]At least 21 dead after massive bomb blast tears through Nigerian mall as people prepared to watch their soccer team play in World Cup leaving body parts scattered and blood everywhere[/h]
  • Witnesses said body parts were scattered near Emab Plaza in capital Abuja as black smoke could be seen a mile away
  • Police said 21 bodies had been recovered and 17 more people were injured as rescue work continued at the site
  • Mall was reportedly teeming with people just an hour before Nigeria's match against Argentina in Porto Alegre, Brazil
  • It should have been a national celebration as Nigeria was guaranteed a place in the next round for first time since 1998
  • Bomb also killed 14 at viewing site last week. Coach: 'How much of a victory is football going to give for those lives?'
  • No one has claimed responsibility though attack bore hallmarks of Boko Haram, which has been fighting in northeast

An explosion in a Nigerian shopping mall has killed at least 21 people just an hour before the national football team played Argentina in the World Cup.

Witnesses said the blast left body parts scattered around the Emab Plaza in an upmarket district of Abuja, as billows of black smoke could be seen from a mile away.

It turned what should have been a national celebration into a national tragedy as Nigeria secured its place in the World Cup's knockout stages for the first time since 1998.
It came a week after 14 people were killed by a suicide bomb while watching the Brazil v Mexico match in Damaturu, Nigeria.
Nigeria football coach Stephen Keshi said after the bombing: 'How much of a victory is football going to give for those lives? What are they doing these guys? They did it the first game, and they now they did it again, it is sad.'

The Sunni radicals’ dream of establishing an Islamic caliphate–modeled on the first reign of the Prophet Mohammed in the 7th century–has no place for Shi’ites. That’s why Iraq’s leading Shi’ite cleric responded to ISIS’s advance by summoning men of his faith to battle. So begins another Iraqi civil war, this one wretchedly entangled with the sectarian conflict that has already claimed more than 160,000 lives in Syria. Poised to join the fighting is Iran, whose nearly eight-year war with Iraq in the 1980s cost more than a million lives.

As the brutal fighters of the Islamic State of Iraq and Greater Syria (ISIS) rampaged through northern Iraq in mid-June, a spokesman for the group issued a statement taunting its shaken enemies. Ridiculing Iraq’s Prime Minister Nouri al-Maliki as an “underwear merchant,” he warned that his fighters, who follow a radical strain of Sunni Islam, would take revenge against al-Maliki’s regime, which is dominated by Shi’ites. But this vengeance would not come through the capture of Baghdad, the spokesman vowed. It would come through the subjugation of Najaf and Karbala, cities that are home to some of the most sacred Shi’ite shrines. The Sunni fighters of ISIS would cheerfully kill and die, if necessary, to erase their blasphemous existence.

What army would rather raze a few shrines than seize a capital city? The answer says a lot about the disaster now unfolding in Iraq and rippling throughout the Middle East. The rapid march by ISIS from Syria into Iraq is only partly about the troubled land where the U.S. lost almost 4,500 lives and spent nearly $1 trillion in increasingly vain hopes of establishing a stable, friendly democracy. ISIS is but one front in a holy war that stretches from Pakistan across the Middle East and into northern Africa. A few days before ISIS captured the northern Iraqi city of Mosul, Pakistani militants driven by similar Sunni radicalism killed 36 in an assault on their country’s busiest airport. Holy war inspires the al-Shabab radicals who took credit for massacring at least 48 Kenyans in a coastal town on June 15 and explains why suspected al-Qaeda fighters in Yemen riddled a bus full of military-hospital staff the same day. It’s the reason Boko Haram has kidnapped hundreds of Nigerian schoolgirls and why Taliban fighters sliced off the ink-stained fingers of elderly voters who had cast ballots in Afghanistan’s June 14 presidential election. Osama bin Laden is dead, but his fundamentalist ideology–and its cold logic of murder in God’s name–arguably has broader reach than ever.

[h=1]Children of war: ISIS kidnaps 140 Kurdish schoolboys and are 'brainwashing' them into becoming suicide bombers[/h]
  • Pupils aged 14 to 16 being held hostage in rebel-controlled city in Syria
  • Forced to take lessons in Sharia law and watch horrific execution videos
  • Escaped boy said armed fighters threatened to behead them if they fled

More than 140 schoolchildren are being 'brainwashed' into becoming suicide bombers for Islamist militants after being kidnapped in Syria, it emerged today.
The Kurdish pupils, aged between 14 and 16, are being held hostage in the ISIS-controlled city of Manbij, where they are being forced to take lessons in radical Islamic theology.
One 15-year-old boy, known as Mohammed, said masked fighters made him watch a video of fighters beheading a man on their first day - then warned he would face the same fate if he tried to escape.
