Sorry but making a big deal about a Penn State win over Ohio State is nothing. They still haven't proven itself against clearly superior competition. They needed a fumble to win that game as their offense was not just going to magically get going after being put in check all night.

This isn't about style points, I know the sport such as yourself. This team could not hang with superior teams like USC, Alabama, Florida, Texas, etc...

If they get to the title game, I will make a ton.

Uuhhh, isn't that what we're all really here for, make money? Or is it to gloat, beat our chest and post how we are right? The truth is somewhere in the middle, Penn State is probably not the #3 team in the country but they are not the dish rags you guys are making them out to be. If they truly suck, make it to the NC game then you all should be happy that you'll be making plenty of coin.

some of you guys are fucking retarded, really...

noone gives psu a chance AT ohio state AT night which is one of the toughest places to play in all of college football...and they come out and win and everyone says that it wasnt good enough?

psu has won every way they have had to, they have blown out weaker competition, they won shootouts, they win by coming from behind and now they win a defensive game, what more do you want?

tell me, WHO has bama beat? georgia? ok, i will give them that one, however they only looked impressive in the first half of that game....they have not looked as impressive since

i think there are just some people pissed off that they took ohio state and lost their $$

Sorry man, but I am of firm belief that you are wrong. And here's why I feel that way.

Everyone on this planet thinks college football is what it was 10 years ago. Heck, they think it is what it was 5 years ago.

The days of everyone being undefeated and having 100 teams with 1 loss are over. College football has serious parity now. With the expansion of the sport, more TV coverage than ever, etc, players know that they dont need to go to Texas, USC, Florida and sit 3 deep on the depth chart. They know they can go to Boise State and make some noise, play in a BCS game, get drafted and play top schools. They can go to Kentucky now and Vanderbilt and play in the supposively all powerful SEC and get drafted like the Jay Cutler's of the world. They can go to Arkansas and run hog wild on their way to a top 5 pick like D-Mac. They can go to Illinois with the big Zooker recruiting classes and be a part of a growing program.

The talent level is as even as it ever has been across the board. But people, and the general betting public have yet to catch up to this concept, yet they always preach it and they dont realize it.

"SEC is overrated." "Big 10 is in a really down year." "Big 12 is overrated they dont play anyone worth a damn out of conference and we have no idea how good they are." "ACC is the worst conference out there." "Big East is horrible ever since Rodriguez and Petrino left." "The Pac-10 is in a really down year. They are the Pac-1."

Well then what conference is good then? I mean how can everyone suck? PARITY.

In the old days, the whole top 10 was legit. If you beat a top 10 team, wow. That was a huge win. Now, if you beat a top 10 team, people are saying you havent played anyone yet. What gives?

These ESPN announcers keep feeding everyone the BS that these seasons are so CRAZY! They are nuts! Wow, no one is safe and anyone can lose and these past 2 or 3 years have just been NUTS! No they havent. Its just parity.

My point?

I'm sorry. But beating Ohio State at Ohio State is a very good win. There is more parity in college football so Ohio State is going to lose some guys, not go undefeated every year and they are going to drop a game or two more than what they usually do. The win doesnt show Penn State is invincible, but WTF else do you want from them? Not everyone can schedule Texas, Bama, USC and Florida at their place to prove what they can do.

Ohio State's only loss this year was to a USC team that you have hailed in many threads as the next messiah. So why is OSU such a bad team? You also said in a thread that OSU would beat PSU by 10 points if OSU felt like playing. Watching that game, they came fired up and then some and certainly felt like playing and lost. So I think it is fair to say that you have undervalued PSU so far this year, even if it is by a very small amount.

This is a new era of college football and every win is big, especially against very good programs like OSU at their place and their previous 8. To go undefeated in the modern college football world is a very big accomplishment. So far, give PSU their props. The OSU Title Games from the past 2 years have really skewed everyones thinking. I promise you, there arent many frauds running the table.

I think too many people associate the OSU losses in all the big games to PSU just because they are the best team in the Big10. Sure the Buckeyes have done aweful in the big games but Penn St. is not the Buckeyes.

Why is everyone penciling them in the National Title game? If any Big12 or SEC team runs the tables, they will get in over Penn St. because they play in the better conference. They control their own destiny and Penn St. does not. They still have two tough games left on their schedule and if they win out they could go 12-0 and be left out of the title game.

Box,

This might be the most accurate gambling related post/information I have read since joining the Rx. Many people don't realize, that there isn't much seperating teams anymore.

If you bet on sports and don't fully grasp how accurate this post is, save yourself time and flush your money straight down the drain.

I second the previous post. This post by Box is the best post I've read in this whole stupid thread. We can all talk about how this team is shit and this team is great but fact is parity in college football has never been better. And the fact is that besides Texas there really isn't any other team that has more than 1 real quality win. PSU beat OSU, UF beat LSU, UGA beat LSU, Ala beat UGA, USC beat OSU. None of these teams have another great win. Seriously whats the best win by any of the above teams besides the ones I've mentioned. Maybe USC beating Oregon, or UGA beating Vandy. Big deal. Do the SEC schools have a tougher scheduale, ya probably, but has PSU dominated almost all their opponents while SEC teams squeak out games vs lesser teams. So when that happens how are you supposed to tell who is better. Wait I know, On the field. but than again this is college football, on the field isn't an option.

EM,

You just summarized what most don't want to see. There are about 12 teams that are qualifed to win it all, if there was true playoff.

Until then, people will continue to base their opinions on how many points an offensive team puts up.

Great post Box. Too bad these clowns who run college football don't get the concept and have a playoff. Or maybe we can talk until we are blue in the face about what could've been.

I didn't undervalue these frauds. They were gift wrapped a win at the Horseshoe. Ohio State dominated that game for the most part but their pedestrian offense cost them. I still stand by my statement that player for player, no team in the country has the overall talent USC has. Is their parity in CFB, absolutely! I never said otherwise as we have discussed recruiting & talent here before, mostly agreeing with one another.

I have to take one issue with this statement: "To go undefeated in the modern college football world is a very big accomplishment."

The reason I do is not specifically towards you but the general consensus. When I shared that same sentiment for Boise State who was the only team to finish undefeated, I got trashed for it. I will always say they were the uncrowned national champions of that year.

*bump*

Thank God this disaster of a Penn State team didn't ruin the National Championship game for everyone.

Once again, Penn State would BARELY be a top-15 team outside of the Big-10. BARELY. More like top 20 at best. The Big-10 is just that pathetic of a conference with the easiest scheduling in the country with 4 OOC games and only 8 conference games which, every year, inflates Big-10 records with 4 immediate gift OOC wins (except when Michigan gets beat by Appy State and Toledo at home, LMAO).

Penn State = 2008's biggest fraud as I've said all along.

Enjoy PSU fans.

Errr, did you see all the SHIT I got from all the Big-10 apologists and blind PSU homers earlier?

Everyone needs to man-up. I said we'll see where things stand at the end of the year and now here we are. I'm sick of teams from the Big-10 ruining every year of CFB for everyone else. If someone doesn't like hearing the truth, they can log off.

You brought the shit on yourself, there is a difference between rooting for your team/ticket/conference and disrespecting others. You are like the scrawny cornerback that jumps on top of an 8 man pile, your anti Big 10 rants bring nothing to the table and quite frankly you come across as a whiny bitch. It's douchbags like yourself that have turned this forum from a valuable source of information into a worthless conference pissing match. Congrats on this accomplishment, I am eagerly awaiting your next informational post titled, 'The Detroit Lions are a bad football team'.
