Today I went back to the treadmill and did 30 minutes. Honestly, I feel like I overdid it but I was a bit angry at myself. Tomorrow weights and keeping the same routine. I'm determined to get in the right mindset and keep up good habits versus old bad habits.

Is the body fat the same?

Thats why I started to track it if I ever stop losing weight, maybe I'd start losing body fat%.

TO START THOUGH DIET IS VERY IMPORTANT LOSING THOSE FIRST POUNDS.

Maybe post a few of your meals her as well.
Looking forward to a chef salad for lunch tommorrow myself. Maybe some chicken wings for dinner (50 cent special at BW's right by the house). Not big on breakfasts, I usually just grab some fruit.

Not going to worry about body fat yet, won't take that measurement but once a month. As long as I do what I should that will take care of itself.

I cheated a little by weighing myself again last night. Not good to do it too often, but I was disappointed so wanted to see if it was an aberration. I stepped on the scale and was at 212.5 according to the readout. A loss of 2.5 pounds. This picked up my spirits as I had been hoping for that. I'm sure the actual loss is between the two readings, but mentally it perked me up.

Weight training today, concentrated on lower body and abs. Definitely gaining momentum as I feel I've established a rhythm. Making the changes I'm going through a routine is something that I want to reach as one of my goals.

May be tested later this week as I will likely be going on a trip and be away from my comfort zone.

I would not focus on weight too much - it takes awhile before you start losing fat just like it took awhile to get fat - so the difference you see from day to day on the scale is just water weight - but if you stick with it you will lose fat down the road.

that has been my experience...losin fat is so unpredictable, ive finally said to hell with it..i just go out every day, do what im supposed to do,and let the chips fall where they may...initially,thats hard as hell to do,we want to see results, but it really is a long term deal...'keep the continue'

Went to a park near me today and walked around the soccer fields, tennis courts, and the rest of the facilities. It's a nice place and they host an ATP tennis event there. Felt good to see a little different scenery.

I even had a few short light jogging spurts interspersed in the walk. I went 31 minutes and got the heart pumping.

Will be a challenge this week as I am going out of town. Saturday's has been my day off and I plan to enjoy that but work out before I leave on Friday.

Going to a golf tournament tomorrow and might use that opportunity to get a little walking in while following some of the golfers.

Make it eay on yourself.
Go FULL Atkins low carb, for 2 weeks.
You'll lose 10-14lbs easy.
The lower weight will bouy your spirits and make excercising much easier.

Then decide what eating regime you want to be on, and continue the much easier exercising.

I was a fitness trainer in my younger day and one very important thing to remember is:
It is better to be fat and fit rather than skinny and unfit.

Went to a golf tournament today and did some walking there. Rather hilly and had to catch my breath a few times.

Going away for the weekend, so working out may be a challenge.

Did have an old nagging soreness on the side of my knee creep up. May decide to either work through it or do some bike work or swim until it feels better. I am a bit concerned as I haven't even started running yet and the discomfort is present. I will fight through it, though.

doby, my advice to you is toss the scale out the window. Weighing yourself can become an addiction, just like the binge drinking.

If you numbers are good(cholestarol, BP, etc...) and you look in the mirror and are happy with what you see, what is the difference of a loss of 2.5lbs.

With your walking and light training, you may be losing fat, but building lean muscle mass, which weighs more than fat. In the end, I fould a scale to be my worse enemy.

You can feel if you are getting fit, you know what im talking about. That fucking bloated feeling after an all night bender. You go without that for a week or so, and you feel 110% better.

anyways, good luck on your quest.....hope you get to what your seaching for.

Had a challenging week here. Stepped off the scale and lost 1 pound from last week. Sitting at 214 right now. Considering I traveled this weekend and got off my eating and drinking schedule I'll take it and move on.

The bigger concern is the soreness in my knee. I did some research and am 99.5% sure it is bursitis. Says it is aggravated by hills and stairs. Of course, Thursday I walked hills at a golf tournament and Friday stairs at a ballgame Definitely felt a difference and not a good one.

This is a challenge for me right now as I am going to have to treat this and be very careful with exercise. Disappointing in the fact, I had started off well and am now forced to make a change in my routine.

I have to look at this long term. There is no way going out tomorrow and walking for 30-35 minutes would be good for me. As frustrating as that is I need to look at the big picture.

The exact injury I have is "pes anserine bursitis". I only include that for those that like to look up that kind of stuff or have an interest in medicine.

Had this in my left elbow from it laying on the poker table too much at work, seriously. It was a semi-form of gout. My elbow puffed out big time, looked elephant man-like. WEIRD.

Decided to use precaution and try and stay off my feet as much as possible. Started using ice and other techniques that are recommended. I figure a few weeks of healing is better than several months of pain.

Since I am halted as far as exercise, I'm shifting the focus to my diet. It is doubly important to follow the nutrition plan right now.

I don't know your exact situation or how bad the pain is, but check this out. A few times a week I see this old man at the local gym. This guy looks like he is at least 75. He has a noticeable limp and uses a cane.

To get to the workout area, one must negotiate about 20 steps. It must take the old man close to 4 minutes to make that journey. Yet, he climbs those steps at least twice a week. After he makes it up there, he goes around and does his workout. I believe he avoids any exercise that works the legs.

So GD, is your condition so bad that you can't do any sort of exercise?

One thing I forgot to mention. The old man walks right past the elevator on his way to the stairs.

Presto,
No it is not nearly that bad and I am doing weight training of the upper body that does not involve any use of the legs. I may also get in the pool to either do resistance running or swimming in another week or so.

I'm just taking a very cautious approach as I feel this is a long term change and suffering for a few weeks will make it better off in the long run.

Believe me, I would like to be walking or light jogging right now. However, with age comes wisdom and I know my body is telling me to take it easy for a short time.

As I said before, this has helped me focus on the nutrition aspect of the plan. I think this may aid me as that had not been exactly a strong suit in the past as well.
