This Finals reminds me of the shaq/kobe Lakers vs jkidd nets NBA FINALS way back...

It just won't be close.

It's a best of 7. They lost 3 times with Tatum and easily could have been 4 times.

This isn't a best of 1. Then I could go along with this argument at least or if Tatum got hurt game 1 and hobbled around all series.

They just lost to very much an 8 seed and Boston was probably as healthy as any team could be in late May and lost to fucking Caleb Martin.(until Tatum rolled ankle)

Miami isn’t really an 8 seed though, this core made the finals 2/4 years and conf finals another year.

I saw you guys talking about how improbable this win was for them a few pages ago (before the site died for me) but they’re just gonna be remembered like a ‘95 rockets or ‘99 Knicks that won/lost the finals. Perennial contender type team that had a down regular season and came alive in playoffs.

Butler hoisting conf finals mvp isn’t jarring to watch or anything like if it was Minnesota, sacto, Atlanta, NYK. That would actually be hard to fathom, this almost happened last year.

With all that said...Heat now being treated something as a real Finals team, they ain't. Denver will ROLL them.

fair enough, Celts have also blown them out 5 of their 7 wins in the last 2 years in playoffs.
Yeah, it's an illustration of how inconsistent they are

2-5 straight up at home against them in the last 2 years in the playoffs. Average line was what, 8? Something like that?

Celtics had physical advantages all over the court, even without Tatum

But they insist on rotating the ball around the horn and chucking ill-advised 3's, despite not having a single great 3-point shooter on their roster

Just a perplexing team

They were like 5th in East before the playoffs started odds wise I believe. Top 4 seeds then them

Tatum tweaks his ankle, it shouldn t be game overCs r at Home.It obviously affected Tatum, same circumstance with Butler at Home in Miami and tweaks his ankle, he would have a better chance of willing his team to victory,Butler is a better Leader and mentally tougher. And Heat overall mentally tougher and maturer than Cs.Denver should win the finals, but there is definitely value on Miami.Don t forget Miami was the #1 seed in the east last year.Maybe Miami is the team trying to take care of Unfinshed Business, it sure looks that way to me.Will help getting Heroe back, don t see how in any way heat can put Vincent and Lowry on the court together against the size of Denver.I don t think this is going to be a cakewalk by any stretch for Denver.Probably should be about -250 not the -400 it is.If Miami steals one in Denver its going to be a series.I will take a small shot on Miami at +340 and +9 in the opener.I think Miami is still being undervalued.

Some of that is just seeing them at this point over decades. Whether it be with lebron/wade...shaq/wade or even the Alonzo mourning teams. Those other teams have been terrible for decades.

What Butler did here is incredible. This is not what a Finals roster looks like...this is 1st round fodder.

I would have figured for this to happen one would have needed play off Jimmy(check) and Bam had played at an Anthony Davis level, which wasn't even close.

Not that you win games with Caleb Martin and Gabe Vincent with side roles from Robinson and Love(lol)

Durant, Booker, LeBron, AD couldn't win a game in Denver.

If I hadn't bet this i would be rooting for Miami as seeing Butler beat this team when all these others(including all-time greats) couldn't would really be the finishing touch on a now HOF career.(which it should be already if ur letting a Reggie Miller in)

Once Tatum/Brogdon are dead, their offense is pretty rough. White/smart are good secondary guys to feast on weak defenders but obviously if they could do much more offensively they wouldn’t be roleplayers on Celts.

Even with everyone healthy though, if you just don’t have a weak link or two for the Celts to attack then they can struggle fast, Bam may have had a tough offensive series but he dominated defensively. He’s probably top 3 defensive players in league vs Celts.

Seth curry/Irving/the bums on the bucks/maxey/harden/Trae young last few years.

Different year but they got stoned going at curry in the finals last year and their offense was done after that. And reaves/dlo wore curry out all series.

That’s not really a Celts specific thing either, just need a top 5 elite type offensive player at the highest levels usually.

Denver has been almost equally as disrespected.

Denver has ever bit as much of a chip on their shoulder as Miami.

Kinda funny looking back. Butler wanted out of Philly because he couldn't stand Simmons play on court. Got out of Minny because he couldn't stand Wiggins and to a lesser extent Towns and now made it to 2 Finals with him as the head an okay #2 and role players.

I mean he looked crazy to a lot of people back than---looks like he was dead on accurate now.

Wish Herro played, taking time away from Martin and Vincent would have been great for the C's

Malcolm Brogdon anyone? Oh wait, he wasn't undrafted 5 years ago or something

Might have been nice to have Gallinari shooting some three's too

Brogdon was a 2nd round draft pick

I need to reread some of these threads.

What was the C's excuse for losing the first 3 games again?

Strangely, you'll find Heat fans talking about injuries for some bizarre reason

Imagine if they had Herro?

I'll give Boston and Milwaukee this....

Who could have planned on Miami shooting around 50 percent from 3 for an entire series. Its pretty laughable.

Isn't Butler's career 3 point percentage comparable to Giannis?
