Exclusive Interview With Brandon

This thread was able to interview Brandon via a very long distance phone call between Rick and Brandon. Although the interview concluded abruptly, Brandon talked about his Super Bowl pick and his handicapping techniques.

Rick James: Brandon, thanks for taking our call. Sorry about the lousy connection. Lets talk about the Super Bowl. You took a big hit there losing 530 dimes for your clients.

Brandon: Yes that was the first loss of my career. The funny thing is, that after I gave out that pick I woke up one morning just knowing the Saints were going to win outright. I told my wife that morning and luckily was able to make a big money line bet on New Orleans. The Colts quarterback is just not a closer.

Rick James: Sweet

Brandon: Yeah, I watched that game here at home.

Rick James: You no longer show your year to date record at your website. But if you take out your super bowl record its not that bad. A guy named Pimpy tracks you. He does a good job at it too, very accurate. Without the Super Bowl this is your record Brandon:

The Oregon State 15 Dimer Writeup....Thursday's Selection

Nice to see the Aggies step up and get it done in the 2nd half.

Really feel good about the last 2 big top plays I have released as both Cal on Saturday, and Texas A&M last night turned it on at home in the 2nd half and delivered double digit wins laying a single digit number.

Now it's my job to build off those back-to-back winners with another winner tonight, another winning day tonight and continue to build a winning month of March highlighted by top play winner after top play winner.

I have to win this month. No questions about it. I have to win.

Last night was a great step in that direction. Tonight will be another step. Get in on what is going to be one of my greatest months of March you have ever seen.

Time to bang home another winner tonight.

15 DIME - OREGON STATE BEAVERS

You say Oregon State basketball and people think about how the head coach has a sister married to the President of the United States.

However, there is more going on with this team than what is going on in the White House.

They come home after a rock solid win at USC 49-44 as an 8 point underdog.

Now they take that mojo and get a Washington State team they battled hard the first meeting in Pullman losing 65-60 as a 7 point underdog.

Now back home, and winners of 3 of their last 5 SU, and an even more impressive 5 of their last 7 ATS, this team is capable of good things as evidenced by their effort against the best team in the PAC-10 in Cal.$ When you start knocking off a team like that by 16 as a 6 point underdog back on February 18th, I like your chances in this spot here.

As for Washington State, things are going bad fast at 3-7 SU last 10 and 4-6 ATS and an 0-4 SU run their last 4 on the PAC-10 road losing 3 of them by 12 points or more.

You throw in the Cougars 2-8 ATS last 10 meetings and 1-7 ATS last 8 trips to Corvallis and the planets are aligned for Oregon State to get another rock solid at home.

And the fact in their last 27 games versus a team with a winning SU record they are a sizzling red-hot 23-4 ATS.

Friday Selections: 10 Dimes on Penn Quakers, 5 Dimes on the Hofstra Pride

Jesus, it shouldn't be that hard.

Up 18 at the half at home no less, Oregon State comes out flat in the 2nd half and gets outscored 19-5 and now a blowout cigar game becomes a major sweat job.

Never a dull moment.

Then they squander an 8 point lead late and the cover, which should have never been in doubt comes down to a pair of free throws with 2 seconds to go.

Winner.

And that was overcoming the Beavers going 12 of 23 from the line for the game.

But when you are in a good groove in basketball the breaks just seem to go your way more than against you.

You don't know how many times over the last year I have not gotten those free throws to fall and lost by a 1/2. Too many I care to remember but I will say it again, I feel really good things here in March.

40 dime winner Cal last Saturday. 30 dime winner Wednesday with Texas A&M. 15 dime winner on Oregon State last night.

Just looking for a 3rd straight winning day tonight, build the bankroll for a big Saturday. Sounds like a nice gameplan to me.

Revenge is Arizona's today on senior day as the Wildcats get payback for a 56-50 loss at Southern Cal on New Year's Eve.$ This game has meaning for the 'Cats in terms of seeding for the upcoming Pac-10 tournament plus a potential NIT bid. But for the Trojans, who are not eligible for post-season play, this is the end of the line. And they're carrying a four-game losing streak into Tucson following Thursday's 59-54 loss at Arizona State, which was preceded by losses at home to Oregon State (49-44) and Oregon (54-44) plus a 51-47 loss at Washington State. Their offensive has averaged just a shade over 47 points during the skid. On the other hand, Arizona snared a road win at Stanford last Saturday on a last-second shot and then rallied from a double-digit decifit to beat UCLA at home on Thursday 78-73.

Sunday Selection: 5 Dimes on the NC State Wolfpack - The Writeup

The lord giveth and the lord taketh away.

In cashing in the 15 dime winner on Oregon State Thursday night I noted how it took 2 free throws with 2 seconds to go to get the cover.

And a 74% free throw shooter in Jared Cunningham is the man who steps to the plate for me and got it done.

I talked about how many times I haven't gotten those free throws, how one miss or even two misses have cost me more times than I care to remember and it was nice to get a win on Oregon State.

Then 2 days later Arizona gives it right back.

I get a 74% free throw shooter who makes both, but with 49 seconds in the first OT Nick Wise - 88% free throw shooter Nick Wise - steps to the line to push the lead back to 6.

He misses both.

And there goes your 30 dime release right down the drain with an 88% free throw shooter. That my friends is how fragile these games can be some time.

No worries. 3 out of 4 winning days on the books and if I step up and deliver back to back winning days here today and Monday, it will be winning week # 2 in a row.

Nothing wrong with that here in March. Nothing wrong with that at all.

Just have to step up today and get it done. Simple as that.

5 DIME - NORTH TEXAS

Western Kentucky-Troy State will get all the attention in tonight's Sun Belt Conference semifinals, but Denver-North Texas is where the easy money can be found.

Denver carries a 19-12 record into the contest. But did you know the Pioneers were just 2-11 straight-up on the road, including 1-8 SU and ATS in conference play, on the road before beating Fla. International and Middle Tennessee State on Saturday and Sunday.$ So it's hard to believe this is almost a pick-em game considering how bad Denver (15-1 at home) has been on the road - even if this is a neutral site game. And don't forget this is the team's third game in three days while North Texas opened the tournament yesterday with a win over LA Monroe.

Tough spot for the Mean Green Sunday. They had been idle since February 27 when they had beaten that same LA Monroe team on the road 74-71. But they managed to rally from a seven-point deficit in the final four minutes (they were down as many as 14 early) to win it 69-66, extending their winning streak to nine in a row SU (5-2-1 ATS) with the victory. In all, they've won 13 of their last 15 SU, going 10-3-1 ATS.

N. Texas won the only regular season meeting, 64-59, at home on February 13, covering the 4 1/2 point margin.

This is just a bad price considering the Mean Green - unlike Denver - have shown they can win on the road. They overcame a huge deficit in Sunday's quarterfinal round and they've won 5 in a row and 7 of 8 SU on the highway since mid-January. And two of those wins came against Western Kentucky (84-83) and Troy State (75-72), the two teams everyone generally considers the best in the conference.

North Texas should be laying at least 4 tonight because they're winning by 5.
