Hope. Keep posting. I really appreciate your insights. Unfortunately for me I had the largest play I have had on a while on Kuznetsova. Three times in the 1st set the dumb bitch broke Hingis only to get broken the next service game including 6-5 in the 1st. Then she didn't even show up in the 2nd set and somehow had 2 break points to make it 4-4 after being down 2 breaks but such is tennis. It's how you play the big points I guess. That's what separates the winners and losers. Course I felt lucky on the Pratt bet that night. I don't regret betting Kuznetsova but clearly it wasn't a play to step out on like I did. What was with the money coming in on Chakevadtze. She really almost a 2 to 1 fav against Peer? Anyhow talk to you later.

I mentioned in the main forum that I liked this match a ton. Just the mere fact that Lindsay wanted to play in Montreal was one reason, but I hit this one pretty hard. If she's healthy the line is -400 IMO and if she wasn't maybe she pulls a Anna Chakvedatze and retires. I bit at -196 and -207. Nice call Hope. US Open draw tommorow. Can't wait to see it. BTW, Myskina supposedly has a foot injury and I figure she will still play next week, but something to factor in.

thks Altice. I didn't know you were also on Lindsey, or i'd drop some more coin on it. Yep, Lindsey vs a second tier player at -200 on US soil with a match under her belt following the long layoff, I have to bite.

thks for the heads up on Myskina. She lost to Santangelo? holy shit.

Blake lost to Hidalgo?? the same Hidalgo who has played 3 matches on hardcourt the last 2 years?? :pucking: ........WOW.

While I appreciate the compliments, you are sharper than me and really appreciate your insights although I think my fades in the ATP are pretty damn helpful. Actually, I mentioned in Presto thread that I passed Hantuchova against Hingis cause you were on Hingis. Hantuchova did have 3 set points at love 40 in 1st set, but Dani is Dani. She blew SIX match points against Groenfeld last night. Groenfeld is playing terrible this year so wtf??? Groenfeld was 0 for 11 on break points. It was a hilarious match to watch.

Davenport made the following comments after her loss to Stosur in San Diego.

"My body was starting to feel drained as the match went on, especially in the third set," fourth-seeded Davenport told reporters.

"I don't think I could get a serve over 100 (mph). But I'm happy that at least my body didn't get injured and my back is fine."

"Practising for three weeks was definitely not enough time but I felt a strong desire to play out here in Los Angeles."

"Believe me, the next time you see me I will be a lot sharper," she said.

"It stinks," Davenport said of the loss. "But it is a step forward for me."

"I'm happy at least I felt my body didn't get injured. The back was fine. My arm was just so tired. All the muscles were just 'What are you doing?'"

"Hopefully, the next time you see me I'll be much sharper," she said, adding she would next play New Haven as she prepares for the year's final Grand Slam tournament.

Now players often blow a lot of hot airl and I have placed too much weight in comments in the past (like Williams sisters) and paid for it, but Lindsay is pretty negative when evaluating herself. That combined with the fact that she was ready to play Montreal constituted a very large play for me. I see Lindsay is being bet down again. Although Schiavone herself is rusty, I think I am going to pass on that one. I think we were only ones to have bet Davenport at Pinnacle based on line movement so that's always good.

The US Open draw comes out in 10 minutes. Been a long time since I have been this excited to see a draw. There are some VERY tempting longshots although I usually like to wait till before the 3rd(when the Grand Slams really start on the women's side to make a futures play) and longshots don't cash too often win in women's game.

more great stuff Altice, thks for sharing. BTW, i'm not 'sharper' than you, your too humble my friend, but humility is a wonderful trait to have. The world can use alot more of it.

US Open qualies

W Arthurs (AUS) -145 over A Dupuis (FRA)-- 1.45u to win 1u.....a battle of relics. Dupuis' form is a huge question mark here: he has not played a match since the 1st week of July, a grass tourney. He is for all practical purposes now, a Challenger Tour player and has been fo rsome time.........Wayne STILL has one of the best serves in the game, absolutely amazing given he's 35 yrs old. He has held serve at a clip of 87% in '06!! His problem, as always is he's not a great returner of serve. Break points should be rare in this match, i'm assuming one set will go to a tiebreak. Wayne has been very comptetive in recent hardcourt matches, and he has always seem to up his game for the majors, qualifying for ALL of them in this DECADE (has reached the 3rd round at Flushing Meadows in 6 of the last 7yrs, he's comfortable in New York)

Wayne never lost serve today :puppy: , winning 7-6,6-7,6-3. Unfortunately for him he has young potential star in the making Del Potro tomm, his streak at qualifying for US Opens may come to an end.

Treble is a winner, although it reverts to a double as Liggan retired in the 1st set, paid +.54u.

2-0

:toast:

draws are out for The US Open. Well if Agassi had thoughts of some 'miracle' run here, forget it, his draw was a nightmare: he is in the toughest quartet. Federer has a dream draw, smoooooooooooooth sailing into the qtrs for World number #1

ladies, at a glance, very good draw for Henin-Hardenne,ideal.

You called the Arthurs match absolutely perfectly. I passed yesterday as I was busy at work and didn't want to bet Davenport on back to back days even though she dominated Schiavone who sucks on anything that's not clay.

I was about to puke when I saw Lena's draw. She's got Venus in 3rd round and she's got Kuznetsova, Vaidisova, Jankovic winner in quarters and she's got that steroid cheater with the hideous yellow teeth and even worse personality if she makes the semis. Lena matches up a lot better against Mauresmo than Henin IMO.

I had some futures I was going to play but I will wait till after 2nd or 3rd round like I usually do to get a feel for how who's playing well and avoiding a surprising upset. And why does Sharapova always get a cakewalk draw. I need to do some research on Pierce cause she's got the game to beat Sharapova if healthy and/or not rusty but I don't think she is either. Krajicek is worthless on hardcourts. Na Li might be hurt. Myskina and Petrova who are way out of form are playing awful. I sometimes wonder if these draws are rigged. I see people are jumping on Lindsay's bandwagon now. I think she's not rusty and can beat anyone but the question is can she stay physically fit for 7 matches?

I might even try to attend the Open the next Saturday through Monday. My first tennis tournament ever was last years US Open where I went to semis and finals. Easily the best sporting event I have ever been to in my life. The atmosphere before the Federer/Agassi match was electric like nothing I have ever experienced in my life. If Lena had made the women's finals, I probably would be eating Ramen noodles for the rest of my life. It not only rejuvenated my interest in betting tennis but also rejuvenated my interest in playing tennis. After a whole summer of playing a ton in this great weather, my backhand still blows. I think I need some lessons for that. Maybe it's technique, but it's very frustrating. My forehand has gotten a lot better. It's going to suck when winter arrives in Chicago as I have played more tennis this summer than in 15 years. It's going to absolutely suck when the snow comes.

As for today, I would be real careful betting Dementieva. This is a possible letdown spot for her and Sveta while unbelievably inconsistent is more than capable of winning this one. Since she's in Lena's quarter and given her penchant for playing better after she has lost to an opponent - see Peer, Schruff and Sharapova in the Open, I wouldn't be bothered if she loses. Kuznetsova was one who I was going to bet a pretty large future on, but with Jankovic, Vaidisova, Lena, in the same part of draw not to mention Zheng in the 3rd round combined with the lapses she has in ever match and the fact that I can't stand her, I am nixing that idea. I am really kicking myself for not betting against Safarova yesterday as 2 to 1 fav against Vesnina. She has been brutal. Course the one match I bet of hers was Vaidisova against her last Tuesday and she scared the shit out of me(Vaidisova was a HUGE fav) taking the 1st set against Vaidisova and being 5-5 in the 2nd before order was restored. Mirza/Glatch was a lock but after losing Mirza as a -431 against pathetic Brianti, I resolved to never bet Mirza again as a fav. Mirza/Sprem is a 1st round match - how many errors are there going to be in that one!!!!!!!!

Congrats on your day yesterday. You are accompling WAY more than "squat" . I will research the Davenport/Mauresmo match and put anything relevant in this thread.

Good luck today.

everything delayed in New York, rainville. Play just starting now, forecast is not good

Venus Williams just pulled out of The Us Open, citing the wrist injury that has had her sidelined. Tough times for American women.

L Hewitt is giving that knee a go (patella tendinitis), finally hitting the practice courts yesterday. He was advised NOT to hit the courts until late this week by a specialist. The cocky Ausie, if he doesn't play next week will exit the top 20 for the first time in 6 years, sad stuff fo rthis warrior. He is definitely a NO bet or bet agasint next week. I can't see him beating Djokovic

the line on Vaidisova, games line, has gone from -115 -6.5 to -6.5 -205 Vs chronically injured C Rubin who failed to cover this line Vs Craybas at Stanford (her ONLY match on the WTA this yr). Now she plays a top 10 player.

With you on Bremond, Arviddson, and Zheng. If line movement is a predictor, I am going to get killed today. Woke up and got a lot worse lines than I could have got if I played this morning. What are your limits at 5 Dimes on the games betting like you are doing with Vaidisova.

Looks like rain for the first two days. The Bremond one is particularly worries me. I hit it at -130 and -135. And I wake up and see that Bremond is bet all the way down to -106. Maybe I am putting too much stock in her Wimbledon run, but what has Dubois ever done. She screwed me on Garbin, but Garbin was a lucky loser. And Srebotnik beat her predictably easy. Dubois didn't beat anyone remotely impressive in the qualifiers. Hopefully this is just the result of the bandwagon on the supposed hot player, but she isn't playing in Montreal. That Montreal crowd was very partisan and were booing Garbin when she made a challenge. BTW, I had Henin very large. Saturday was a joke line as Lindsay in her interviews said she was very tired coming in and Henin is pretty intense even in tournaments. But Lindsay retired. So I didn't make a cent. Do you know any other books that Americans can play other than 5 dimes where 1st ball served is the rule?

Always nice to start a huge tourney on a downer. I have made 1 bet on ATP since French(on Fed to win the Open). Just lost 3.5 units on f*cking Young to lose 3-0 as he wins 1st set against Djokovic. Only going to follow you on ATP going forward. Freaking sad. Need Craybas and Sugiyama in early action now. You can bet no more ATP for the remainder of this tourney for me.

I saw that line movement agasint us on Severine, I just assumed it was due to (as you stated) her recent form and the ease as to which she flew thru qualies. Give me a half-decent hardcourt player inside the top 100 Vs Stephanie at that line and i'm taking it all the time. Sure glad we won, with ease too, Bremond served very very well.

5dimes is not a '1st ball serve' (just for the date of the match) book: the first set must be completed for a match to stand. They have limits for online wagering , but you can call in larger wagers. I'm not a big player Altice, but I have dropped several pretty big plays the past few yrs with no problems. Their games lines can change very quickly.

Your D Young play was a good one, should have come thru, Novak was sleep walking thru the first. Looks like everything else you played came thru for you, WELL DONE!!!!!!......bloody Jie had us sweating, she TWICE blew it serving for the match, then almost blew 40-0 triple match point, WOW......

3-0 for me, great day.....

Super day for you. Great job. Zheng scared the living shit out of me. It was excruciating match to root for and on the betfair boards rumor was that she was injured as she called for a trainer, but blowing a 5-3 lead TWICE against a player as pathetic as Peschke? WTF???? I even thought she might retire in 3rd set if she got broken early.

Awesome day for you Hope. I am just glad I am in the black. Never thought Bremond and Arviddson would be 10 times easier than Zheng. :toast:

Still raining. Weather.com has rain forecast all day. Last night it's forecast was 100% chance of rain. LOL. I have never seen that before. Even if they start, hard to believe they would be able to even finish more than one match if that. On the positive side, it appears Wednesday through Friday will produce decent weather. Lucky for anyone who's going tommorow for sure.
