Dementieva was made to go the distance in a couple of gruelling contests against Ivanovic and Schiavone and has spent well over five hours on court in those two matches. Kuznetsova came through a topsy turvy encounter with Jankovic but said she had plenty more in the tank. Kuznetsova leads the series 5-3, both players have potent groundstrokes and are quick around court. The Dementieva serve seems to have improved considerably but is still nowhere near as good as that of Kuznetsova who also has the edge if approaching the net with her superior volleys. Did not want to bet on doubles matches but this one really stands out to me .
There is no doubt who are the better players on the courts but there is also highly a doubt who are the better doubles players out of the two teams .
Nadal and F.Lopez have a record of 10-14 when playing together and lost in the first round 5 times in a row . They didnt win a match as a team since 2006 . Interesting fact that they both lost to Coetzee few times already when he played with a different partner .
Coetzee and Moodie are good doubles players . They made it to the finals in Doha where they couldnt convert 2 matchpoints and lost next 4 points and the match and they also had great results at the Australian Open where they made it to 1/2 .
Their losses when playing together in the last 2 years were only against the best players in the business : Bryan brothers , Llodra/Clement and two weeks ago to the Australian Open winners Jonathan Erlich/Andy Ram in Rotterdam .
I like to fade doubles team built with singles players especially in this case when we have players who play this as their job and on the other hand we have Lopez and Nadal who should be more interested in their singles competition matches .
