New York Mets -105

Johan Santana (9-6, 3.34 ERA) the ace of the NY Mets pitching staff has not been in top form of late , but is more than capable of one of his patented lights out efforts vs a Philadelphia team he has has success against in the past as is evident by , a perfect 4-0 carer record along with a stingy 2.95 ERA in 8 starts. Meanwhile,Joe Blanton (4-4, 5.08), who will take the mound for Philadelphia is 1-2 with a 6.05 ERA in seven starts at home , and very much looks to be fade material in a park that has not been kind to him (52 in 41 innings). Phillies are 0-5 in Blantons last 5 starts and I expect one more negative effort this Sunday afternoon.

San Francisco + over Houston

The Giants are an incredible 26-12 at home this season and San Francisco can wrap up the series sweep in this pitching match-up featuring two legends. The Giants are 10-6 behind Randy Johnson this season including 6-2 in his home starts and after some ups and downs early in the year Johnson is again a very effective starter. Getting win 300 out of the way appears to have him more relaxed and comfortable and San Francisco has won six of his last seven starts and he is 5-1 in that span. Johnson owns a 2.5:1 strikeout to walk ratio and he should bring his best against one of his former teams. The Giants also feature one of the absolute best bullpens in baseball posting incredible numbers this season. The Astros are only 7-9 behind Roy Oswalt and his numbers which have been mediocre overall have been worse on the road. Houston is batting just .234 in the last ten games while the Giants are hitting at a red hot .303 clip and have won the first two games of this series by a score of 22-0.

Baltimore Orioles at Los Angeles Angels

Prediction: Los Angeles Angels

The Orioles are 0-8 in the last game of a series when they are off a loss and the Angels are 9-0 in the last game of a series when they are off a win.

Baltimore is 0-7 when seeking immediate revenge for a loss in which they held the lead and the Angels are and 7-0 as a favorite after a 5+ run win. Finally, the Angels are 9-0 with Saunders as a favorite after a start in which he had more walks than strikeouts. Consider laying the price.

New York Mets vs. Philadelphia Phillies

Play: New York Mets

Phillies troubles at home and Blantons struggles spell a -154 line. Why is this game even. Take METS and Johan to shut down Phillies.

Arizona D-Backs vs. Colorado Rockies

Play: Under 8.5

Both these pitchers have been hot of late. Perfect time of day for this game to finish by 5:30pm. Considering that both of these ACES have given up 3 runs or less last three games I will side wit the UNDER 8.5. Dbacks 3 Rockies 2

Baltimore Orioles vs. LAA Angels

Play: Over 10

Orioles tagged Saunders for 10 hits last time out. Both bullpens are reeling right now. Like this to be like yesterdays game. A lot of base runners! O's 10 Angels 7 4 STA over

Detroit at Minnesota

Play: Under 9

These two have combined for 66 overs and 90 unders this year. Rick Porcello has 6 overs and 9 unders while Nik Blackburn has 4 overs and 11 unders. Blackburn's ERA is 2.74 in his last 3 starts. Look for an under on Sunday.

New York Mets at Philadelphia Phillies

Prediction: New York Mets

The Mets had won two straight games prior to the first two games in this series but those setbacks should not set them back too much. They have an edge with the pitching matchup tonight and they catch a very good number against a Philadelphia team that has been having trouble winning at home. The Phillies are 15-22 at home which is the second worst home record in baseball. Johan Santana has not been in his best form recently but that could very well change this afternoon. Looking at his road numbers and you see a disappointing 5.18 ERA but a lot of that damage was done in just one outing against the Yankees. Take out that performance and his ERA drops from 5.18 to 3.49 which is a significant difference. He faces a Phillies team that he has dominated for the most part. In his seven starts against Philadelphia since joining the Mets, Santana has a 3.04 ERA with six of those seven starts being quality outings. He squares off against Joe Blanton who has definitely turned things around but that has not resulted in victories. He has allowed three runs or less in six of his last seven starts but the Phillies have lost his last five outings. Pitching at home has been a chore as Blanton is 1-2 with a 6.05 ERA and 1.54 WHIP in seven starts. He allowed five runs in six innings in his only career start against New York while in a Phillies uniform so he could be just what the lackluster Mets offense needs right now. The Mets are 9-3 in Santana?s last 12 starts following a team loss in their previous game while the Phillies are 1-6 in their last seven games against a team with a losing record.

Sunday's Comp Selection

10 of 15 Comp Winners

10 of 15 Comp Winners after the Rangers plus money easily yesterday. For today's comp, take the Under 9 between the Atlanta Braves @ Washington Nationals. The Braves continue to stay in the hunt for the NL East as they are just two games out of .500 and after sweeping the fighting Phils find themselves tied for 3rd in the division. The Braves need a strong start from Lowe today as they come off a loss to the Nats yesterday with Hanson on the mound. Lowe pitched much better in his last start as the Braves ended up winning 5-4 late as Lowe picked up a ND for that effort. Regardless, Lowe has a 4.44 era and he will look to lower that today against the Nats, who are an opportunistic, yet limited team on offense many times. After nearly a month off, Olsen came back strong in his last start at Florida givign up 2 runs in 7 innings - although he still picked up the loss. I look for him to have another strong effort as both he and Lowe should bring it to the mound strong today. The Under is 4-1 for the Braves following a loss and the Under is 9-2 for the Nats following a win.

Detroit Tigers at Minnesota Twins

Minnesota continues to thrive in the home favorite role, where they have posted a 58-28 record. Today's starter, Nick Blackburn, is responsible for a lot of that with an 11-2 team start record, including 3-0 this year. Twins have won five of his six starts at the Metrodome with the only loss coming in a game where Blackburn did not allow any runs in seven innings. Go with the home team here.

COL / ARI Under 8.5

The D'backs and Rockies combined for 18 runs and 24 hits on Saturday, as the D'backs won 11-7. Don't expect those July 4th type of 'fireworks' today in Coors. Haren goes for the D'backs and while he's only 7-5 on the season in 16 starts (team is 8-8), that hardly tells the whole story. Haren owns a 2.19 ERA, having allowed just 78 hits over 115 innings, striking out 113 batters while walking only 15. He's lasted at least seven innings and allowed two or fewer ERs in each of his last seven starts, going 4-0 with a 1.73 ERA (striking out 50 batters while walking just six). He?ll face Colorado's Ubaldo Jimenez, who is 5-3 with a 2.79 ERA in his last 11 starts, allowing two ERs or less in SEVEN of those 11 outings.

Take the Under.

TAMPA BAY vs. TEXAS

The Rangers try to complete a three-game sweep of the Tampa Bay Rays. Texas (44-35) won its fourth straight Saturday with a 12-4 victory over Tampa Bay (44-38). The Rangers may have broken out of their scoring woes, scoring 33 runs in their 4 games winning streak. The Rays are trying to avoid losing four straight and will start right-hander Matt Garza (6-5, 3.45 ERA) who seeks a third straight victory Sunday. He improved to 2-0 with a 1.20 ERA in his last two starts after allowing one run over seven innings and walking three Tuesday in a 4-1 victory at Toronto although he struggled a little bit with command. Garza has pitched well against Texas, going 3-1 with a 1.98 ERA and 26 strikeouts and five walks in four career starts.Texas will start Scott Feldman (6-2, 4.09), who won the first time since June 3 on Tuesday. Feldman gave up three runs over six innings in a 9-5 victory over the Los Angeles Angels. Feldman has made one career start against Tampa Bay, allowing two runs over seven innings in a 5-4 loss on June 7, 2008. Both of these pitchers have been solid and Sunday Night baseball on ESPN usually brings out the best in these starting pitchers. Runs will be a precious commodity in this game.

Toronto Blue Jays vs. New York Yankees

Play: Toronto Blue Jays

Ai Simulator 3* graded play on Toronto as they face the NYY slated to start at 1:05 EST. Supporting this graded play is a strong system that has posted an amazing mark of 47-37 and has made 5.8 units by exploiting false favorites. The average play has been a dog of +197. Play on road dogs with a money line of +175 to +250 with a starting pitcher whose gives up 1 or more HR's/start and is working on 7 or more days rest. Toronto is a solid 51-35 (+15.1 Units) against the money line in day games over the last 2 seasons. NYY are just 24-34 (-20.7 Units) against the money line after having won 3 of their last 4 games over the last 2 seasons. Manager Cito Gaston is a solid 24-11 (+12.8 Units) against the money line after having lost 4 or 5 of their last 6 games.

Take Toronto.

Arizona Diamondbacks @ Colorado Rockies

PICK: Under 8.5

Last night's game got crazy late and that is helping to give us some line value with the under here after Saturday's game ended up totaling 18 runs. The bullpens faltered last night but, on Sunday, with Ubaldo Jimenez of the Rockies and Dan Haren of the Diamondbacks on the mound, the bullpens aren't likely to have much sayso in this one! Jimenez has a 2.18 ERA and a .188 BAA in five career starts against the Diamondbacks. He also has a very impressive .238 BAA in his career outings at Coors Field and a .230 BAA in career day games.

Dan Haren of the Diamondbacks has a 2.19 ERA and a .189 BAA this season. Haren also has a solid 3.00 ERA in eight career starts against Colorado. The Arizona right-hander has allowed two earned runs or less in seven straight starts and he's gone at least seven innings in all seven of those starts. Haren has not allowed more than seven hits in any of those outings and he gave up four hits or less in five of those starts. This one has all the makings of a pitchers duel!

Consider a small play on UNDER the total in Colorado on Sunday.
