One of the things some of my friends don't know is I'm a 80s pop/new wave fan not all of it but some of it. They can deal with the Hall and Oates and stuff but when I put on "Steppin' Out" or "Africa" I get some strange looks. Funny that some people don't know, some of the music they listen to today is sampled from these genres.

Alot of people wouldnt know that Steppin out was Joe Jackson, and Africa (a great song) was by Toto....

I know ALOT of one hit wonders and 80's trivia.....more than i probably should....was a great era for music...

Loved bands like petshop boys, naked eyes, the thompson twins, the motels

Not really sure of the "technical" differences go2.....I mean groups like Devo were considered "new wave" where synth pop, was just what it said, the overuse of synthesisers to enhance the music, basically the kind of song that sounded alot better on the radio, than in concert....LOL


Motels did "only the lonely", and a couple others,

Naked Eyes was famous for their one hit "Promises, promises" which was an awesome song, back then....
