Even after NASA released the remastered and complete audio tape from Armstrong's first step onto the moon, some still refuse to believe.

The thing is, people so easily misled as to believe the moon landings didn't happen also have a tremendous ability to make themselves believe scientific debunkings are part of the same grand conspiracy. So hard facts and demonstrations carry no weight with them, but a borderline nutcase on public access television railing about how flags are blowing in the wind is entirely believable.

Bottom line: Some people simply won't believe it's raining no matter how wet they get.

bolded sections: because of the ridiculous lack of scientific knowledge AND LACK OF WILLING TO LEARN that most people have

in this day and age where information is so EASILY obtainable.....there is NO EXCUSE for ignorance.....you don't know something? spend 5 minutes looking it up on wikipedia..........read a book, do something! and for crying out loud......does anyone ever bother to read the opposite point of view of what you are researching ???????? of course that if I believe the Earth is flat ...........AND all I do is read the sites of such nutjobs......well the outcome is easily predictable

but no, its much easier to sit on a coach eating some greasy shit that is going to give you a heart attack at 30 something...while mumbling "nope, don't believe it"

this sort of anniversary (moon landing) makes you think about the two extremes, the wonder and also the laziness of mankind

i'll admit i have always been a little skeptical of it after watching all the stuff that conspiracy theorists have pointed out. But i have also watched programs that have debunked the stuff.
I like most have always though that they couldn't of had the technology, but i also have always believed that when technology is released as new to the general public ,that it is already old. Meaning alot of technology that the government has developed is not known for years.

the only main burning question that has always got to me is "why ain't we been back?"
cause if the technology is so much greater now, we should have went a whole lot more. Yes, they have built shuttles and the space station, but that stuff is only right outside the atmosphere.

Kid, there is an excellent article in the New York Times talking about why NASA was practically dismantled after the Apollo missions. Do a search.

I'm in the camp that believes the Apollo landings were faked. They didn't have the technology to do this in 1969, IMO.

It was also to meet a deadline JFK promised.

Nice distraction from Vietnam,also.

Never trust the gov't.

why should we not trust the govt? because you say so?

or because dozens of bogus conspiracy theories say not to?

i dont get this type of rationale

That is hysterical! Was that really done by Onion?!

Yup, that's an Onion audio news clip. They've got some pretty funny video stuff now, too.

Their supposed front page from July 21, 1969:

20 years ago I likely qualified as a qualified StarTrek dweeb, but stopped following the various spinoff shows after TNG.

I haven't ever looked, but I'm sure there's got to be any number of websites which provide a breakdown showing the many visions of Roddenberry (and related ST writers) and how close they may be to reality today.

A few that come to mind, which were pure speculative fiction at the time (late 1960s):

1) Video communications
2) Hand held "communicators" (cell phones)
3) Doors that open and close without being touched
4) Complete libraries of books, music and other media being available in a single dekstop location
5) Medical devices which scan the human body (above and beyond the "XRays" available in 1960s) - many of which do not require any actual entry into the body
6) Weapons that temporarily disable, but do not kill or cause permanent damage

shit....Now I got to go find one of those sites

Funny you mention this, after a friend and I went and saw that new Star Trek movie, I remembered watching the old episodes about 20 years ago and how they had some of the things you mentioned above. Kinda mind blowing when you think about it.

Oh, and all you people that think the moon landing was faked. You really, really, need to learn a little more and think for yourself. The technology was there in 1969 to do it, in fact, they use much of the same technology still today. There is a new sort of cold fusion rocket device that has been developed that will make rocket boosters and the such obsolete in the next 10 years or so. They've actually already made it work on a small scale, the problem is finding/inventing materials to keep the extreme hot and cold away from one another on a bigger scale. I'll try to find the article about it, but it would take about 1/10 of the time it does now to get to, as well as around, in outspace.

I'd like to put forth the proposition that the technology of the time would make it easier to go to the moon than to film a convincing fake that would stand up to advanced computer analysis that it would be subjected to for many generations thereafter.

So true...It seems like the only time we make quick progress in this country is when some outsider sparks quick competetion. Like developing the A-Bomb before our enemies and the moon landing. If Russia said today that they were going to put a man on Mars in five years, we would probably get off our asses and get it done in 4 years. This is the way America operates. We always seem to need a swift quick in the butt to get the ball rolling.

On September 9, 2002, filmmaker Bart Sibrel, a proponent of the Apollo moon landing hoax theory, confronted Aldrin and his granddaughter outside a Beverly Hills, California hotel. Sibrel confronted Aldrin, shouting "You're the one who said you walked on the moon and you didn't!" He then called Aldrin "a coward and a liar". 72-year-old Aldrin responded by punching Sibrel in the face. Beverly Hills police and the city's prosecutor declined to file charges after witnesses confirmed that Sibrel had initiated physical contact. Sibrel suffered no serious injuries.

Kraft foods is building a rocket ship. Kraft wants to go up and mine all the cheese.

Mexican scientists re saying the moon is not made out of cheese but is instead a giant Pinata. They want to shot a missile at it, puncture it and grab all the candy that will rain down on earth.

Russian scientists say that the candy won't rain down on earth due to gravity and the candy will float up. Russia is getting a net ready to put above the moon.

the moon is fake. its just a picture projected on the sky by a big projector that they have. Nobody can land on it cause its just a picture mirage.

I've heard that if you dig a hole deep enough, you'll enter a tropical style land populated by dinosaurs and women that look like this:
