Those 8 years Clinton was in office letting the corporations lie, cheat, and steal their way to billions of dollars didn't effect the economy either I suppose?

No coincidence that most of these scandals came out after he left office?

When economic growth is based upon doctored numbers and make believe profits, it doesn't take an economics major to figure out what will happen when the cat is let out of the bag.

Floyd,

What he meant to say was that Bush was "one of the most unpopular Presidents in the history of my house".

As I have been saying, they just make it up as they go along.

From your link:

"It's unlikely that any figure underscores the public's closing of the ranks as well as the president's job approval rating. On Sept. 9 just 55 percent approved of his work in office — fewer than usual at that point in a presidency — and only 26 percent approved strongly.

Since then Bush's approval rating has soared by 37 points, the sharpest climb on record, to a record high. And his "strong" approval has increased nearly threefold."

Which proved what I said. That much of GW Bush's popularity is because of 9-11.

So the only way that Bush-lovers can defend their retard-in-chief is to compare him to Clinton. Well I've got news for you... they're BOTH dirtbags. They BOTH serve the corporate interests that bankrolled them and they BOTH were in the forefront in the theft of Americans' civil liberties.

Nice dodge.

So you admit then you were LYING when you typed:

No F;oyd, he arguably WAS one of the most unpopular presidents in history, notwithstanding a single poll commissioned by the corporate media. At the time there was still a groundswell of protest over the election that Bush stole and the sinking economy, which quickly evaporated when CIA-employee Bin Laden destroyed the WTC.

I never compared him to Clinton. I was only popinting out one of the reaosns why this countriy's economy has gone to shit. It has nothing to do with Bush. And everything to do with the so called "economic boom" we saw under Clinton.

Much the same way touts pad their records, many of the successes we saw under Clinton were due to padded stats and out and out deception.

But you are patially correct, you cannot go broad band and blame things down political lines. When all is said and done, they are all the same.

While this "war" or impending action might be undertaken under false pretenses, the message it will send should be loud and clear. It is also probably a necessary evil in the times we are in.

BTW how many of you guys actually live in America, or are even Americans?

Floyd,

You thought his previous post was stupid, but then he wrote:

"At the time there was still a groundswell of protest over the election that Bush stole and the sinking economy, which quickly evaporated when CIA-employee Bin Laden destroyed the WTC."

He who does not learn from history will be forced to relive the past. Did we learn anything from the second world war? To those of you who oppose the action we are about to take in Iraq - if you suddenly found yourself back in 1939, would you oppose the action that the US took to stop Germany? Would you argue that some of our troops would be killed? We saw 5,000,000 Jews killed in concentration camps and millions of Poles, Czechs and others. Would you say that in retrospect we should have stopped this? If you think we should have stopped it, then do you think this can happen in our future and should we take action to stop it now?

Very clicheish Mr. Radiofreecostarica. For those of us who lack your knowledge and insight, would you mind elaborating on your statement? Please supply some examples so I can understand exactly what you are talking about. I've always believed that freeing people who are enslaved is a desirable task. Could you please explain why someone who is able, should not take on this responsibility?

i dont get the ww ii analogy alwayswins, a war for strategic oil supplies has got nothing to do with the mass scale territorial expansionism of hitler and the japanese. Those two are not analogous, they are not even closely related, the middle east is littered with plenty of dictatorial, autocratic regimes with weapons of mass destruction, india, pakistan etc. to a name a few, why dont dubya invade them instead. Besides that, ww ii is largely due to the western block allowing hitler to reign supreme for fear that the rest of europe AND germany might turn commie, and hence repeatedly denying Stalin's overtures to the west for a united front against hitler.

And as for freeing others or helping other countries, how about the american goverment give a helping hand to the 41 million americans with no social insurance and medical care and to inner city neighbourhoods, instead of deficit spend and spend on military equipement which is then sold to the rest of the third world, which is then invaded for the same military equipement they ve been sold by the u.s. leaders.

Go ask the nicaraguans, or the somalians, or the serbs, or the indonesians, or the greeks, whether they want to be "liberated" by the u.s. peace troops and then have another dictator (re)planted by the liberators...

btw, very well said dannymay, could not agree more...

Hungover,

He wouldnt have to convince anybody of anything. Half of our population is nothing more than a rubber stamp. They will support the government no matter what it wants to do. And as this issue demonstrates, support of half of the population is enough for this government. They dont need the support of intelligent americans, because they can always count on those who just support everything.

Never mind that over 90% of the world population is against this war. They are all stupid, uneducated, idiotic morons. The 10% war m ongering minority knows everything about world affairs.

btw, dubya has repeatedly said, and i mean time and time again, that he hit the "trifecta" with the twin tower attacks, slip of the tongue, possibly, dubya a arrogant moron definately, very encouraging to see so many antiwar mobilization going around in the world, very disheartening to see that the majority are still small minded, unintelligent suckers.

And btw, wasn't his daddy supposed to have taken out Sadam 12 years ago, what gives here?

As of 9:30am EST, March 8, the unscientific poll results show that 64% of the respondents are either in favor of action or at least are not against it, with 54% in favor. This seems to be in line with other American polls.

Should we go to WAR with IRAQ?

Results (97 votes counted so far):

54% YES
36% NO
8% NOT SUE
2% Don't Care

jazz :

your pool makes me wondering...

when you say : <should WE go to war with Iraq?>, by <WE>, do you mean US armed forces, or all of us, including yourself, your kids, etc.

remember, it is easy to talk about wars when you are watching it on TV.
