"The reality is, to be brutally honest, when people talk about white privilege, we get defensive. We all have this mechanism that I call manufactured equivalency to try to protect ourselves. We'll say, 'I have a lot of black friends.' We'll say, 'I grew up in a mixed community, so I'm not like that. I can't possibly be someone who takes advantage of white privilege,' and manufacture this equivalency.
"It's incumbent on us to stop doing that, because that doesn't move us forward when we do that. That's part of having a courageous conversation."

Let me help...when i was 10 in 1957 i was taking the bus downtown in so fla to a movie. When i got on the bus there was a sign that said “colored to the back of the bus”.thats white privilege. In kwik Chek food store there were 2 drinking fountains. One marked “white; and one “colored”. That’s white privilege. 3 bathrooms. Men, women and colored. That’s white privilege. Every black man or woman in this country that are in there 70s were treated like that by white people. Of course that was a long time ago i know. So let me ask you a question. At what time in the last 60 years did the white people that passed the laws and enforced the laws making it legal for blacks to be treated as inferior to the superior white man realize that they were wrong? 1965? 1992? 2006? 2018? Am i getting close?
