First, would not be making wagers with fellow posters.

Secondly, if you do, do not tell about them in a nationally read forum.

Lastly, pay a bet if you lose it.

I would say being a homer doesn't pay and this thread should prove it. Just for laughs have you ever collected from a poster here????

Let me start off by saying my track record for paying forum bets is 2nd to none. On a scale of 1 to 1000, my credit score is 1000. I have paid countless forum bets to perfect strangers hiding behind posting handles with the best of them.

This is just a few of the bets I have paid to forum strangers.

JASON4000, 2 $500 bets for a total of $1000
WANNABEEWHALE 1 $500 bet
Journeyman himself last year for $500
DOCTORS PICKS at another forum for $500
WVU for $100
And about 5 or 6 other small bets for $100 or less.

I have paid out over $3000 bucks alone to this forum to strangers.

So my reasoning for this thread is not to try to get out of paying someone.

Part of me says to ignore whats happened the last 10 days and pay the bet.

The other part of me is saying that there is not a chance in hell that I would have ever goten paid if I won the bet so why should I pay?

I am being pulled in all different directions on this issue. I want to do the right thing.

Should I give him the benifit of the doubt and pay? Or should I not pay?

Nothing worse than a stiff in my book. Would this mean im a stiff?

Thanks for your advice in advance.

Hey ... what's wrong with losing wagers? I lose wagers all the damn time ... hell I took the Cubbies OVER in Game I ...

As for posters on this board PAYING, I will personally vouch for Jasin and WVU on the list that Chop posted ...

I know that this will probably always go on but we've had a number of problems with this in the past going back as far as I can remember where one poster bet another and then stiffed the winner. I know there are some honorable people on this board but you just never know. It's basically a parlay (you're betting to win and get paid.)

If Chop didn't pay I would still not hesitate to wager against him in the future

if he gets in contact with you, pay him....if you don't hear from him, don't worry about it

Ok, Chop ... here is what my friend said:
If you stiff him $500 because he stiffed someone else, then you'll get stiffed for $1,500 someday because some stiff will play you ... you'll be a great target because the stiff knows that if they lose any wager, they have the Journeyman excuse which allows them to say, "He didn't pay Journeyman, why should I pay him?"
... and if you pay Cigarman, what will you do if anyone who loses a wager to you next month decides to pay Journeyman instead of you?

This is why I wanted to get this debate started before the bet was complete.

This is an open wager.

Nobody has won or lost this bet yet.

I want to come to a resolution before a winner is determined.

Im leaning towards paying, but it sure is a sick feeling knowing that if I win, my odds of getting payed are slim.

Hey Chop, dont listen to these fools. If you dont pay, that definitely doesnt make you a stiff. If you were a stiff, you wouldnt be here discussing this plus we already know your reputation. This matter has special circumstances and nobody is mentioning them. the fuckin guy deserves it and you will be the one who dishes out the karma. Stop trippin!

If you don't pay him, and you make another wager on the forum, you can assure yourself that you won't get paid ...

... and you'll notice an inordinate number of people suddenly wanting to make dime wagers with you ... and every stiff alive will be looking to play you ... and why not? They can make the same excuse you just did.

GDEAD...if you don't pay a bet, that makes you a stiff...the only fool here is you...and you are all over the forums ripping books for not paying....see a little bit of a double standard here...

What goes around.... comes around.... Karma, man.

When you entered the bet, you didn't enter it based upon his character. Whether you win or lose, paying him should never be a question in your mind. A bet is a bet, whether you think the winner deserves the proceeds or not!

OK ******, im going to pay should I lose.

Journeyman, if you are out there. DO NOT USE THIS THREAD AS AN EXCUSE NOT TO PAY UP IF I SHOULD WIN THE BET.

I am on record right now to pay you this wager if I lose. So if so be im the winner, I expect the same in return.

Thanks guys for all your comments.
