Duke +6 even for 3 units @ 9 PM- I think this is a good spot for Duke and I am expecting a very tight game throughout. People are over-emphasizing Duke’s recent loss to Miami. Miami is an extremely good and underrated team that is capable of beating any team in the country. On top of that, I attribute a lot of Duke’s loss to them looking ahead to this huge game tonight. One of the reasons UNC is so incredibly tough at home has to do with the fast pace they play, which is made possible by the length and athleticism inside between Zeller and Henderson. While these big men give most teams tons of trouble, the Plumlee twins have actually been very successful against them in the past and I think they will remain physical and active down low again today. Furthermore, while Barnes will definitely play for UNC, he is nursing a sprained ankle, and they are going to need all they can get from him today to provide an outside look for UNC to counter the tremendous guard play of Duke. Overall, I think Duke will take care of business in this hostile UNC environment and bounce back from their disappointing play as of late. You can probably get +6.5 or higher if you wait a little longer.
George Mason 1st half -5 (-105) for 3 units @ 7 PM- George Mason is coming fresh off a great second half comeback win against ODU, and I expect this momentum to continue into tonight and for them to come out very strong, especially in the first half. Their recent win against ODU was a grind as they had to work hard on every possession to get good shots up against ODU’s stifling defense. It should be the exact opposite tonight against Hofstra. Furthermore, these are two teams headed in completely opposite directions. George Mason is really on a mission right now to finish first in the CAA and it will be a lot easier for them to come out strong tonight at home than Hofstra, who is having an extremely disappointing season to say the least on top of a recent double digit loss to Georgia State at home. I may put a unit or so on the whole game spread, but I think if George Mason is to cover they will do so in the first half.
Xavier -14 (-105) for 2 units @ 7 PM- Xavier seemed to be finally bouncing back from their up and down season with a 2 game win streak before that was snapped last game by Memphis in a game they were leading in for most of the time and really should have won. Now they head back home for 1 game against Rhode Island before heading on the road again. This line seems inflated at first glance, but I really think Xavier can win this by 20+. If there is one thing that Xavier has been consistent in this season, it is handling their business at home. They are a whole other monster on their home court, and I don’t think Rhode Island can hang with them outside of maybe the first 5 minutes.
Pitt -3 (-105) for 2 units @ 7 PM- Yes, I know USF is 10-1 at home. But still, I don’t think it is fully recognized yet how good Pitt is with everyone healthy. Pitt is really on a mission right now, and I don’t see too many let-down games for them in the near future. USF is extremely long, but Pitt just played a very similar-sized team in Georgetown and handled them pretty easily. USF is coming fresh off a 30 point loss at Georgetown, and sometimes this indicates that they will come home strong in their next game, but sometimes it also indicates that they will continue to struggle and lose confidence. All I have to say is with the way Pitt is playing right now, they are one of the last teams I would want to face after just losing by 30.
Cincinnati -4 (-105) for 2 units @ 7 PM- Immediate revenge factor for Cincy after their buzzer-beater loss to St. John’s at home not too long ago. Cincy only lost by 2 in that game after shooting an atrocious 26% from the field. They will not shoot that bad again. Not too mention they forced St. John’s into 18 turnovers in that game, and if they are able to do that again tonight it will be very difficult for St. John’s to hang around. St. John’s is coming off a 25 point loss to Cuse, and Cincy plays a similar 2-3 zone on defense which may give the Johnnies similar problems.
Old Dominion/William & Mary under 121 (-105) for 1 unit @ 7 PM
St. Joseph’s +3 (-105) for 1 unit @ 8:30 PM
Buffalo -5 (-105) for 1 unit @7 PM
Jacksonville State +5 (-105) for 1 unit @ 7 PM
