100 Dime - Oklahoma State

Wednesday's Play ...
G-Man comlng with my 4th ever college football 100 Dime release, and it is a play on the Oklahoma State Cowboys minus the points as they tarke on the Arizona Wildcats in the Alamo Bowl in San Antonio on Wedsesday night.

Considlr this the "swan song" for highly-touted offensive coordinator Dana Holgorsen who has been tabbed as the coach-in-waiting at West Virginia after the end of next season, but is on board for the play-calling duties tonight.

G-Man has a feeling the Cowboys will be shootirng the moon in this game, and their offense is so much better balanced than their counteparts I don't see how in the world State doesn't take this one easily.

Remember that Okie State has lost their last 2 bowl games the last 2 seasons, both losses by double-digits in the small dog role. Now they come in as the favored team and with good reason. State went 9-3 against the spread this season, including covered 8 of 10 when favored.

Arizona on the other hand comes in to San Antonio with losses in 4 in a row, and spread losses in 7 of their final 9 games!

Granted, the Cowboys defense ain't exactly the "Doomsday Defense", but Arizona's offense - only 25 ppg their last 5 games - is not likely to continually exploit their shortcomings, and the Pokes do average 45 points per game.

You do the math...eventually the dam breaks on the Wildcats, and the Cowboys put the requirsd distance between themselves and the Tuscon entrant.

Also, expect Oklahoma State to have more of their faithful in the stands to cheer them into the winner's circle.

SAFESTWAGERING

Oklahoma State Cowboys (10-2)
vs Arizona Wildcats (7-5) 9:15 et
I always make my own lines before checking those posted.
This serves two purposes:
1) Finding a mistake made by the oddsmakers.
2) Finding a correctable mistake by the analyst..... me.

I would have set this line higher in The Cowboys favor.
They have great receivers. If Justin Blackmon decides to leave
school he should be taken in the first round.
Running back Kendall Hunter is 7th in the nation, averaging 126 ypg.
Their 27 year old junior QB, Brandon Weeden, has NFL DNA, and
will probably enter the draft.(He played professional baseball
prior to college.)

Oklahoma State's offense seems to be ripening with age. They led
the FBS in total yards per game, and scored 41 pts against Oklahoma,
which has one of the best pass defenses in the country.

After a strong start Arizona ended the season with 4 losses.
Two of the those were against USC and Oregon.
They also have talented receivers, and a good QB in Nick Foles,
who is healthier after a knee injury.
The passing offense is ranked 9th in the country. The rushing
offense is marginal. Their defense has been the major problem.
They've allowed 456 yards ppg, and not forced many turnovers.
These totals are much worse than earlier in the season.

Anyway.... when looking back at old games, The Cowboys
have one unit in particular that is not impressive.
It is the cornerbacks. Which is the main reason their passing
defense is ranked almost last in the country.

Wildcat kicker, Alex Zendejas (even with issues in his
last game), and Cowboy kicker, Dan Bailey,
are addtional scoring options, who completed an impressive
37 for 44 combined attempts this season.

We've seen in prior years, that added time off from
the regular season until the bowl games has aided The Unders.
That's not the case so far this year, and I don't think
it matters this evening.

Take The Over
