THE DUKE SPORTS
Boise State (-16') for 2 Units
We realize Utah has been a great bowl team and a dangerous dog; however, we don't believe the Utes have the offensive arsenal to crack the Boise State defense. Nevada was successful in doing so because of their athletes, rhythmic offense, and no huddle which tired out the Boise State defense which wasn't accustomed to going 4 quarters at that frenzied pace. Tonight, the Utes' offense doesn't draw that comparison. Although, the Utes have a potent ground attack, their passing game against quality defenses is suspect; for example, when facing the toughest part of their schedule late in the season, they threw a combined five interceptions, including two thrown by Cain the last game of the season vs BYU. Tonight, Wynn (shoulder) is out and Utah's reserve QB Cain will get the nod in an attempt to restore his confidence. Boise State's defense is not forgiving and should batter down his confidence level. On the other hand, the young Utah defense should have serious problems with the well-oiled Boise State offensive machine. We'll look for QB Kellen Moore and his excellent supporting cast to be too much for the Utes' defense.
