500♦ Denver Nuggets

Lay the points as Denver rolls to another series blowout.

I was a big fan of the Nuggets Sunday night as they then rolled to an easy 29 point victory. Well given the Nuggets easy win where Billups dominated with his 36 points I look for yet another double digit win tonight for Denver. After all with Denver having won 15 of their last 18 games while covering 11 of those 18 games it is very clear that the Nuggets are peaking at the right time.

Meanwhile, for New Orleans they are sliding fast as they have lost 7 of their last 9 overall games, including 5 of their last 6 games on the road. Mix that in what the fact that New Orleans on ATS losing runs of 8-20 at an underdog and 3-7 on the road and things don’t look once again for the Hornets tonight in Denver.

Flat out, in game 1 I said that Billups would be a bad match up of New Orleans and I was dead on as the Nuggets point guard went off for 36 points. Well look for Billups to go off once again tonight as Denver sails to another easy win to take a commanding 2-0 series lead.

All Denver!

100♦ Boston Red Sox Game 2 Specify Penny and Liriano as starters.

Game two tonight at Fenway I say go with the Red Sox minus the small than expect chalk. Sure Brad Penny has been a bit of a disappointment for the Red Sox, but so too has Liriano for the Twins as the lefty is off to a 0-3 start to the season with an ERA of over 5. Now mix that in with the Red Sox recent turnaround of winning 5 straight games, including their 4 game sweep of Baltimore and Boston starts to look good tonight. Meanwhile, for Minnesota given they just have one road win I see the Twins struggling in Fenway tonight. Flat out, thanks to Boston starting to heat up and playing at home tonight I expect for the Red Sox to end the day with a game two win.

All Boston!

Game: Philadelphia at Orlando (7:00 PM Eastern)
Pick: Orlando -11 (-110)

The Orlando Magic have to be chapped at what they did in game one at home, as they allowed an 18-point lead to evaporate and ended up on the losing end. You know the resolve will be much greater in this one. What we saw was a team that dominated the Sixers, but thought they had them buried, allowed them back in the game, and ultimately lost. The Sixers have not been a good road team all season and even with the game one win, they are just 4-12 ATS vs. teams with a win perctage of .700 or higher. They are also 10-22 ATS vs. teams that average 100+ points per game. The Magic have made double-digit wins at home the norm. The Magic are 21-6 the past two seasons revenging a home loss. This season when a team beat them and put up 100+ on the Magic, Orlando is 13-2 ATS in the revenge game. Blowing that lead was a fluke. This time the Magic finish the job, so I'm going with Orlando to send a loud message here.

New Orleans Hornets (49-34) at Denver Nuggets (55-28)
Denver Nuggets are hot, while the New Orleans Hornets are stumbling down the stretch. Denver has won their last five home games, going 4-1 ATS. Meanwhile, New Orleans has dropped five of its last 6 games, 2-4 ATS and has lost six of its last 10 on the road, going 3-7 ATS. Go with Denver in Game 2 at the Pepsi Center to take a 2-0 lead over New Orleans.

Denver Nuggets -5½

Kansas City Royals (7-6) at Cleveland Indians (5-9)
(R) Brian Bannister (0-0) vs. (L) Cliff Lee (1-2)

The Royals will send Brian Bannister to the hill. The right-hander has pitched well against the Indians, 3-1 with a 1.91 ERA in his career, but will square off against Cleveland's lefty Cliff Lee tonight at Jacobs Field. The veteran has been very successful versus the Royals. Lee is 12-4 with a 4.47 ERA in 19 career starts against Kansas City. Go with the Indians at home with southpaw Cliff Lee on the mound.

Philadelphia 76ers (42-41) at Orlando Magic (59-24)
Look for Orlando following 100-98 surprising upset in Game 1 on Sunday to even this series tonight against the sixth-seeded Sixers at Amway Arena. However, laying 10.5 points is huge. Take the 76ers to cover the spread. The underdog has been a lucrative bet in this series, 24-11 ATS in the last 35 clashes.

Philadelphia 76ers +10.5

Wednesday, April 22, 2009 8:00 PM EST.
Miami Heat (43-40) at Atlanta Hawks (48-35)
The Heat hopefully will improve tonight after being pounded by the Hawks, 90-64 in Game 1, but still will have a big assignment against the Hawks in Atlanta. The Hawks are rock-solid on their home court, 32-10 this season, while the Heat were dreadful away from home, just 15-27 on the road. Take the home team. Look for the Hawks to play hardnosed defense against the Heat, focusing above all on Dwyane Wade.
