GC NBA Play- Tuesday

.

On Tuesday the NBA Bonus Play is on the Indiana Pacers. Game 502 at 7:05 eastern. The Pacers are rested and ready tonight with 3 days rest. They are coming off a home loss to Milwaukee in their last game and catch Denver in the second of back to back road. Not a good spot for road teams vs opponents with this much rest. The Nuggets are a horrendous 0-7 straight up and ats losing by an average 11 points per game on the road with no rest if they are a dog of 4 or less and shot 45% or less from the field last night and their opponent is coming off a home game. Look for the Pacers to come away with the win tonight. For the Bonus Play take the Indiana Pacers. BOL GC.

*** TOLEDO @ NORTHERN ILL (-10.5; O/U 49.5) ***
-------------------------------------------------------------
The top two teams in the Mid-American Conference's West Division do battle in DeKalb on Tuesday night, as the Toledo Rockets pay a visit to the Huskies of Northern Illinois. Toledo opened the 2010 season with an embarrassing 41-2 loss to Arizona, but since that time the team has sandwiched a pair of three-game win streaks around a couple of losses (Wyoming and Boise State). During the Rockets' current run of success, wins over Kent State, Ball State and Eastern Michigan has them sporting a perfect 5-0 conference mark, which happens to be the same league ledger owned by the Huskies at the moment.

Since going 1-2 to start the season, Northern Illinois has won six straight games to jump to the top of the MAC West, along with Toledo. The Huskies' most recent triumph was a 28-21 decision at Western Michigan (October 30th), and a win here would give NIU its longest win streak since the 2003 team opened the season with seven consecutive victories. The Huskies are undefeated at home this season (4-0) and have won nine of their last 10 in DeKalb.

Despite their favorable record, both in conference and overall, Toledo is a middle-of-the-pack squad from an offensive standpoint. The Rockets average 25.1 ppg by generating 146.3 ypg on the ground and 184.9 ypg through the air. They do, however, protect the ball extremely well, giving it up just nine times this year, which is tied with Kent State and Temple for the second- fewest in the conference. NIU leads the league with just seven giveaways. Adonis Thomas is the team's top rusher to this point in the campaign, gaining 517 yards and scoring three TDs. QB Austin Dantin has eight rushing scores to his credit, but hasn't exactly lit foes up with his arm, throwing for just 139.9 ypg with seven TDs and eight INTs. Having nearly four times as many catches as his closest teammate, Eric Page is clearly TU's top option down the field with his 66 receptions for 776 yards and four TDs.

Dantin suffered a shoulder injury early in Toledo's recent rout of Eastern Michigan, giving way to redshirt freshman Terrance Owens who completed 10- of-15 passes for 234 yards and four TDs. Page and Danny Noble combined for seven grabs, 166 yards and two scores, while David Pasquale led the Rockets on the ground with 78 yards on eight carries. Toledo finished with 437 total yards, and easily won the game despite a seven-minute deficit in the time of possession.

Toledo gives up almost the same number of points (25.2 ppg) as it scores, and while foes have found it difficult to move the ball on the ground (116.3 ypg), doing so via the pass has resulted in 240.4 ypg and 13 TDs. Both Donald Archie (88 tackles) and Dan Molls (87 tackles) have been two of the more active defensive players in the MAC this year, and the Rockets have also proven to be an opportunistic bunch by coming up with a league-leading 26 turnovers and posting 21 sacks.

Eastern Michigan generated 326 yards against the Rockets the last time out, but only 100 came on the ground. The Eagles did manage to notch 17 first downs to Toledo's 14, but 4.5 yards per offensive play and a 1-of-3 effort in the red zone contributed to the loss for the home team. Molls registered a game- high 13 tackles, including a sack, while Isaiah Ballard added nine stops.

Northern Illinois uses a bruising ground attack to pound its opponents into submission, averaging 243.3 rushing ypg which has helped it put up 30.7 ppg, both of which lead the MAC. RB Chad Spann is the league's top ground gainer, having amassed an even 1,000 yards on the season (second year in a row) in averaging 5.5 yards per carry. He has scored 12 of the team's 20 rushing TDs, and he is complemented by QB Chandler Harnish, who has run for 559 yards and four TDs. In addition to the damage Harnish does with his legs, the Huskies' signal-caller is responsible for 159.9 ypg and he has thrown 12 TD passes against only four INTs this year. Martel Moore is NIU's leading receiver with 26 grabs for 255 yards and two scores, although Willie Clark has four TD catches among his 23 receptions and 308 receiving yards.

In the seven-point win over Western Michigan last time out, Spann rumbled his way to 146 yards and a TD, while Harnish threw for 214 yards and a pair of scores. Clark led the team with seven catches for 70 yards and a TD, while Nathan Palmer took his five grabs and turned them into 83 yards and a score of his own. In all, the Huskies rolled up 424 yards of total offense, converted 10-of-15 third-down opportunities and claimed a near-nine minute edge in time of possession. Still, Northern Illinois needed a late TD pass from Harnish to pull out the win and stay perfect in MAC play.

Northern Illinois, the least penalized team in the MAC while Toledo is the most, is ranked second in the league in scoring defense (18.7 ppg), and the Huskies also sit second in turnover margin (0.78 per game). The unit's effort against the pass has yielded just a .583 completion percentage, the second- fewest passing TDs (nine) and the fourth-fewest passing yards (1,942). Alex Kube is NIU's leading tackler after nine games, having logged 62 stops. The team as a whole has just 14 sacks thus far, with Devon Butler and Jake Coffman combining for five of them.

The Huskies defended the run extremely well against Western Michigan, allowing the Broncos a mere 44 net rushing yards and only 2.1 yards per attempt. As a result, WMU turned to the airways in Kalamazoo and picked up 360 passing yards and all three of its TDs in nearly handing NIU its first conference loss of the season. Tommy Davis and Tyrone Clark led the Huskie defense with nine tackles apiece, and Rashaan Melvin and Coffman each picked off a pass.
