lillefty's plays
I just got home from a long day of work, so I didn't post anything here. all his games have gone off already. Just for record keeping purposes here were his plays.
yesterday I managed to pick the worst start of the year for 3 cy young candidates. The odds of all 3 of them losing like they did was small, but it happened. Days like that are going to happen when you make plays 360 days a year. It is part of the game. Move on to the next day. Even yesterday doesn't take away from the fact that I have had 14 out of 17 winning days and am +19 units during that span. Sure a losing day like that sucks, but it is just that, 1 losing day. That is why I use money management to have a day like that not kill me. On to today
current runs:
overall run 29-9 +19.2 units last 17 days
Bonus Play run 13-2 last 15 days
todays plays :
Bonus Play :1* fla/was o-8.5
last night the free pick went down in flames as Verlander forgot the game started at 7:05 . He left his game in the bullpen for the 1st inning and the 5-0 hole he put us in was too much to overcome. Even with that loss . the free pick is on a 13-2 run and the overall run is at 14 of 17 winning days and a 29-9 record.
today's freebie will be the over 8.5 in the Fla/wash game. The over in this series since 2008 is 14-4-3 as the Marlins have used and abused the Nasty Nats for the better part of 2 years now, handing them beating after beating.
Johnson has been ultra consistent but even as good as he is , he tends to give up 3 lately and that will be all we need from him. JD MArtin is the key to this one. He hasn't quite adjusted to the bigs. His 2 full starts vs the mets and the Brewers have not gone well. He has allowed 10 ER in 9 IP in those 2 contests.
both bullpens have been underperforming lately. In the nats case for me to say they are underperforming lately means they have performed at sometime this year(which they haven't). Look for late bullpen help if we need it which I think we won't. I see a 9-4 Florida win here.
other plays include:
1* florida -1.5 runs(even) vs wahington 7:05 pm
Washington has been Florida's kid brother in the last 2 seasons. Florida has an 19-2 W/L vs the Nats. Most all but 3 of those 19 victories have been by 2 runs or more. The over is also 14-4-3 as a result of the Florida offense destroying Washington pitching. Today should be no different.
Josh Johnson has gone since 4/18 w/out giving up more than 3 runs. 18 straight starts of 3 run or less pitching. Overall the Marlins are 16-5 in his starts. The Majority of his wins have come by 2 runs or more. His last 3 games Marlins have outscored their opponents by a 20-7 margin. he marlins are 7-3 in their L10 vs some tought competition in Cubs, Dodgers and the braves. Other trends that are supporting the fish are: 6-1 L7 on the road, 37-18 L55 when favored and 6-0 L6 Johnson starts vs a losing team.
Martin for Nationals has found the going tough so far in the Bigs. In his 2 non rain delay starts, he has been roughed up by the mets and the Brewers. The nationals have never neat Florida with Johnson on the hill(0-7). The bullpen is once again acting like a gascan with a 6.27 era over the last 2 weeks. The nationals will be fortunate to hang around in this one.
1* colorado(+125) vs phillies 7:05 pm
This pick will be unpopular as the majority are on Philly. The Philly popularity bandwagon is soaring due to picking up Cliff Lee. Mr Lee isn't pitching in this game, Moyer is and with his stuff, he can not compete in that bandbox in philly. Moyer has over a 6 era at home since citizens bank park opened up.Jamie also has a 5.45 career era vs the rox. The Phillies score a lot of runs but vs Hammel I see the runs a little tougher to come by. Hammel has a road era of 2.67 and the rockies have won 20 of 28 on the road. Rockies are playing solid ball right now. They are 16-5 L21 as a dog, 38-15 L53 overall and 9-4 in hammels last 13 starts. Look for the rox to surprise and snatch tonight's game from the phillies.
