dime bet 506 LAL -8.5 (-110) Bookmaker.com vs 505 DEN
Analysis:
Denver is playing some good basketball right now. The Nuggets are coming off a 10-point home win over the Thunder last night, which is their eighth straight win and 13 of their last 14. So the points look like the play, but I think Denver is going to run into a buzz saw in LA tonight.
The Lakers have won four straight since back-to-back road losses and they've won 9 of their last 11. Despite having the #1 seed in the West locked up, the Lakers will still be playing with plenty of motivation tonight.
First, LA is chasing Cleveland for the league's best record, which would clinch home court advantage throughout the NBA Finals. Second, LA is looking to avenge an 11-point loss at Denver on 4/9. The Lakers shot a pathetic 29.8% from the field and an even worse 2-for-21 (9.5%) from 3-point range. That was Denver's first win in this series in years. Third, the game will be nationally televised on TNT, which just adds to the home advantage.
The Nuggets are 1-10 ATS in the last 11 meetings in Los Angeles. Just going back through the last five meetings in LA, we see Lakers wins by 28, 17, 14, 15, and 14 points. And you just know LA will be looking to make a statement against what could end up being the West's #2 seed.
Too much motivation for LA here, especially the way they played against Denver in their last meeting. And while Denver was playing at home last night, LA was off and geôtting ready for tonight's game. If LA does get Andrew Bynum back tonight, that will just add to the emotion for the Lakers.
I'll lay the points with the Lakers for 1*.
