Mariners left-hander Jason Vargas has been sharp this year, going 2-1 with a 2.75 ERA in three starts. Vargas (2-2, 3.69) lost Tuesday despite striking out a career-high eight and holding Tampa Bay to three runs in 6 2/3 innings.
Seattle is coming off a 4-3 loss in 10 innings and trying to stop the sweep.
They drew nine walks Saturday but stranded 12 runners, three in the ninth inning.
They did not get the job done. They bounce back today to stop their home losing streak

They do this all of the time.
If they are having a average week they cut down the units so if they lose it does not become a losing week.
If it wins they claim the 20 units as a pay once play and only 8 units for the lock club
