Triple Threat Sports
Sport: College Football
Game: DIRECT SERVICE WINNER - South Florida vs U Conn
Date/Time: 12/5/2009 6:25PM EST
Pick: Connecticut Huskies
Reason:
2.5* on U Conn (-) over South Florida

Bulls put a TON of attention and effort into last week's game against Miami and come up short. Now they have to travel to Storrs at night in December, with a 60% chance of snow and a gametime temp of 35 degrees that will only drop as the night goes on. A quick check shows that the Sunshine State Bulls are 2-11 SU and 3-8 ATS in anything close to "cold weather" conditions, and that is exactly what they are going to be facing here. Lay the points in this one.

As we head to boise on the smurf turf

here is what we know

boise wants to score............and look impressive doing it

n mex state gets the un lucky break of not only facing a boise team that beat them

49-0
58-0 the last 2 years

they face a boise team who is better
and may go over 58 by themselves

im not laying 48 on boise for the game because i think
n mex st could score 14-17 points here and i dont want to get a back door cover to beat me

at home u can pencil in boise for 50 points minimum
so i may only need 9 points from the dog to get this over 58

boise can give up points
nevada actually shredded them when the game seemed out of reach

the safe bet here is the over

as u have a 2-1 chance to win it

either boise goes over 58 by themselves in a blow out

or they win a 58-17 game

either way dont blink your eye
as if you do the scoreboard will change

factor this

1 punt/kickoff return for a td
1 pick 6 for a td
1 key turn over or a blocked punt will lead to a score

so i dont feel like were betting over 58

i feel we are betting over 37-40

there could be 80 points combined in this game

bet it over

u do the betting
i'll do the sweating

boise state's last 4 games total points scored

YTD 46-39 -5.8units)

The last 2 weeks have just been awful so were looking to close out the regular season in college football on a positive and go into the bowl games on a high note.....

10unit- Flordia -5.5 (Top play)

The only thing i can say here is tim tebow how many times can you think of that tebow has lost a huge game i cannot think of many the guy knows how to win games like this one and i see him digging down deep once more and putting the gators on his back and getting the win.....

8unit- Fresno st. +3

Simple here this is just a fade against coach zook as the illini have done nothing against bowl eligible teams and fresno is 5-1 ats on the road this year....

8unit- La.Tech -23.5

The bulldogs have been terrific at home they are averaging 38 points at home while the spartans have been awful on the road averaging just 9 points a game there last 5 on the road also this is la.tech senior day.....This should be ugly!!!!

5unit- Cincinnati -2

Well all i can say is has coach wannstedt every won a big game while at pitt again just a fade of the stache.....

5unit- Ga.tech/Clemson over 57

Well all i have here is that the yellowjackets are 5-1 over the total after b2b unders while clemson has gone over the total both times they were a underdog this season.....

Pick 'n' Roll: Today's best NBA bets

Sacramento Kings at Phoenix Suns (-11, 227)

It only took 17 games, but the Suns finally failed to eclipse the 100-point barrier.

Phoenix was held to 99 and 90 points during two consecutive road losses to the Knicks and Cavs. Now the Suns return to the cozy confines of US Airways Center where they have won 15 in a row and have averaged 118.5 ppg this season.

"We've got some work to do. We're just struggling right now," said head coach Alvin Gentry. "There are things we've got to get corrected, but it's not anything we can't do when we get a couple of practice days. We're not in any kind of panic situation."

Steve Nash and the gang would hardly panic against the Sacramento Kings who haven’t won in Phoenix since November of 2005.

But the surprising Kings will look to extend their winning streak to five games – straight up and against the spread – on Saturday.

Led by rookie Tyreke Evans, Sac-Town is averaging the fifth-most points in the league at 104.9 ppg and now faces the second-highest scoring offense in the league (110.2 ppg).

The last two times these teams met, they put up 250 and 244 points. Expect to see plenty of fast-break layups and three-pointers in this affair.

Pick: Over

Orlando Magic at Golden State Warriors (+8.5, 221)

The Magic have been road warriors this season, going 8-2 straight up and 7-3 against the number. Only the Celtics have a better road mark at 8-1, and the two are tied atop the Eastern Conference with 15-4 overall records.

“It’s always good when you can get off to a good start and build yourself a cushion,’’ head coach Stan Van Gundy said. “To be 11 games over .500 and building a cushion against injuries, it’s helpful, because no one plays 82 games and doesn’t run into some tough stretches.’’

The driving force behind Orlando’s success has been Dwight “Superman” Howard. The 6-11, 265-pound manimal is averaging a double-double this season with 18.2 ppg and 12.3 rpg.

The superhero will attempt to power his team to a fourth straight win when the Magic collide with the Warriors in Oakland. Orlando has won four of the last five games at Oracle Arena and gone 5-0 against the spread during that stretch.

Ice picks: Today's best NHL bets

Edmonton Oilers at Dallas Stars (-175, 5.5)

The Oilers hate to see Stars’ wingman Brenden Morrow skate onto the ice.

In Morrow’s last three games against Edmonton, he’s registered four goals and three assists. The Stars have gone 8-0-1 in their last nine games against the Oilers with Morrow in the lineup.

The Stars have posted 3.7 gpg in their last 10 meetings against Edmonton while the Oilers have averaged 3.2 gpg during that span.

The over has hit in five of the last six games in this series including a 5-4 shootout win for the Oilers on Oct. 6.

One of Dallas’ top defenders will be absent from the game which should assist with the ‘over’ angle. Karlis Skrastins, who leads the team with 63 blocked shots, will miss the game because of a cut on his right hand.

"He's a very good defender," head coach Marc Crawford said. "It's just stitches and the swelling will go down. He'd have to make a miraculous recovery to play. There's no severe damage. It just unfortunately means he's going to miss a game."

Pick: Over

Washington Capitals at Philadelphia Flyers (-145, 6)

Two wagering questions abound when the head man of a professional sports organization gets canned: Is the team motivated to win under its new head coach? Is the team less motivated to win because of the firing of its old head coach?

Those questions will be answered on Saturday night when the Flyers host the Capitals.

John Stevens, who compiled a 120-109-34 record with Philadelphia, was replaced by Peter Laviolette on Friday.

The Flyers were expected to be a playoff contender this season, but have posted a mediocre 13-11-1 record under Stevens in 2009. The team has lost six-of-seven and averaged one goal per game over its last four while getting shutout in two straight.

"Basically we have to play with more passion,” said winger Danny Briere. “You have to stop blaming everybody and get a good look at yourself in the mirror.”

“Right now we're struggling to score goals," Chris Pronger stated. "It's going to take three guys around the net bouncing it off somebody's shin pad. It's going to take a dirty goal for us to turn this around."

Speaking of dirty, Alex Ovechkin will serve the second of his two-game suspension during this contest.

Washington hasn’t skipped a beat with Ovechkin out of the lineup, going 5-2-0 in his absence this season. The Capitals are winners of four straight and expect that trend to continue in Philadelphia.

Pick: Capitals

Sports Marketwatch – NCAA Week 14

Recapping Week 13

In the first game of our Thanksgiving edition of Marketwatch, Rutgers scored 21 second quarter points in a 34-14 defeat of Louisville, handing us our only loss of the week. Marketwatch rebounded when Auburn got off to a hot start, jumping on Alabama 14-0 early in the first quarter. 'Bama eventually came back to win their second straight Iron Bowl, but the five-point margin did not beat the 10.5-point spread, giving us a win. Baylor, getting 21 points, played well enough against heavily-favored Texas Tech to lose by only seven, making it a 2-1 week for Marketwatch.

Overall Record = 22-16-1 (57.9%)

Warning to all new readers of the NCAA Football Sports Marketwatch column: in order to follow our selections, you’ll need ice running through your veins. Be prepared to take up meditation or acupuncture to calm the nerves. The goal of this weekly column is to highlight games that offer true “line value.” Often, if a line looks too go to be true, there is a reason. The underlining theme every week is line value. You’ll occasionally need the worst teams on the board to come through. We typically buy on bad news and sell on good.

NCAA Sports MarketWatch Week 14 – Games to Watch

West Virginia vs. Rutgers (12/5 - 12 p.m. EST)

Last week, Tyler Bitancurt kicked a game-winning 43-yard field goal as West Virginia won the 2009 edition of the Backyard Brawl over Pittsburgh. Rutgers running back, Mohamed Sanu, ran for a career-high 148 yards and two touchdowns as the Scarlet Knights crushed Big East rival Louisville, 34-14.

West Virginia opened as a 2.5-point favorite at Pinnacle and are currently receiving 59% of spread bets. Even though the Mountaineers are a considerable public favorite, big bets have come down on Rutgers, shrinking the line four points at Pinnacle. A Steam Move was triggered on the Scarlet Knights at BetOnline (+15 units), so we'll follow this move and the significant reverse-line movement, and grab Rutgers giving one-point at home.

Rutgers -1 (Olympic)

Fresno State vs. Illinois (12/5 - 12:30 p.m. EST)

Place Kicker Kevin Goessling played the role of hero in Fresno State's last game, connecting on a 35-yard attempt, as time expired, to give the Bulldogs a 30-28 victory over LouiSIAna Tech. Their opponent, Illinois, was the latest team to face the wrath of the Cincinnati offense, allowing Tony Pike to throw for 399 yards and six touchdowns in a 49-36 loss at Nippert Stadium.

This game opened as a pick at CRIS and public betting has pushed Illinois to a three-point favorite. Fifty-four percent of spread bets have come down on the Fighting Illini, yet SportsInsights' Betting Systems have found value on Fresno State. A Steam Move on the Bulldogs was triggered at 5dimes (+23 units), giving us the confidence to go against the public and take the points.

Fresno State +3

Florida Atlantic vs. Florida International (12/5 - 7 p.m. EST)

In last week's matchup with Western Kentucky, Florida Atlantic (FAU) forced three turnovers in the 29-23 victory over the visiting Hilltoppers. Florida International (FIU) did not play last week, but is still recovering from their game with Florida two weeks ago. As one might expect, that game was all Gators, who completely manhandled the Golden Panthers, 62-3.

FAU opened as a 1.5-point favorite at CRIS and are currently receiving 66% of spread wagers. Although the public is heavily behind FAU, the line has dropped 3.5 points, making FIU a two-point favorite at CRIS. SportsInsights' Betting Systems lit this game up early and often, triggering two positive Smart Money plays and two positive Steam Moves, including one at 5dimes (+23 units), on FIU. We'll follow these strong plays, go against the public and take FIU.

Florida International -1.5

So, here’s a wrap-up of SportsInsights' analysis of this week’s Games to Watch for NCAA Football Week 14.
