Edmonton vs. Islanders

The Islanders are now that team on the other side of the fence! Which side am I talking about? The side the bookmakers have made them the favorites and it will be interesting to see how they handle this new role. Oilers head coach Pat Quinn must be in a nasty mood these days, he's team is 1-4 SU in their last 5 and nobody likes to be around a losing environment. Oilers gut this one out vs. a young inexperience team who's got the Favorite label hanging over their head. Take Edmonton.

Yankees vs. Philadelphia

This is short and sweet. Give me Cliff Lee for the Phillies anytime under -150 at home. Period. Backs against the wall here, blowing a game last night, Must win with your ace on the hill. Burnett for the Yanks over a 4 ERA his last 3, Lee is under a 1 ERA. Enough said.

Houston Rockets vs. Utah Jazz
Play: Utah Jazz -7½

The home team has won 7 straight in this series. Utah has won their last 3 home meetings with Houston by 13, 7 and 22 points. I'm not a real big fan of the Rockets this year, who are playing without Tracy McGrady and Yao Ming. I don't think they have what it takes to be competitive tonight in Salt Lake City against one of the best home teams in the league over the last few years. The Rockets are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 road games. The Rockets are 12-27-1 ATS in their last 40 games following a ATS win. The Jazz are 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games as a home favorite of 5.0-10.5. Utah is 28-12 ATS in home games after scoring 105 points or more over the last 3 seasons. The Jazz should be favored by double-digits tonight because that's likely their margin of victory when this one is all said and done. Take Utah.

NFL
Atlanta vs. New Orleans
8:35 EST

This is probably the highest total I have seen on MNF ever. The reason why it is so high is because the Saints are scoring 40pts almost every week. I don't see much changing tonight. Atlanta does not have the defense they once had and they have some defensive line injuries which will give Drew Brees a ton of time to do his thing. Atlanta also has a ton of play makers on offense and they will be going against a Saints team with their own defensive line issues. MNF games have been going over almost every week in the past two seasons. I know that chances are one game is bound to go Under, but when you have two offensive teams that can score from anywhere on the field it never takes long for points to start rolling up on the board. Look for both teams to be explosive on offense. Take the Over.

4 DIME PLAY

Edmonton Oilers @ NY Islanders

7:00p.m. Tonight

4 Dime Play Take NY Islanders ML -120
Edmonton may have the better record overall this season, but the Islanders are playing good fundamental hockey right now. Not to mention Edmonton is 1-4 on the road this season, while the Islanders are 6-1 ats at home this season and 6-0 ats off one days rest. The big key factor in tonight's game is the fact that the Oilers are plagued with the flu bug right now with three of their top players questionable due to the illness. The three players that have the flu are Shawn Horcoff, Lubomir Visnovsky, and Mike Comrie, combined these three have 8 goals on the season and 11 assists. Statistically these two teams matchup well against one another, but the Islanders are better in Shots on offense and face offs. Considering the facts, we'll look for the team that has been playing better in this situation all season and the team that feels better to come out with the victory.

Trends I Like

Oilers are 0-4 in their last 4 games as a road underdog.
Oilers are 0-4 in their last 4 road games.
Islanders are 7-3 in their last 10 in the third game of a 3-in-4 situation.
Islanders are 7-3 in their last 10 after scoring 5 goals or more in their previous game.
