Monday's Action
500♦ Miami Heat

Take the Miami Heat minus the points here tonight.

Up 2-1 in the series thanks to back to back wins I look for the Heat to make it three straight wins here tonight as they blast the Hawks once again on South Beach. You see in case you have not been paying attention to this series it’s been all about the Heat over the past two games as Miami has notched back to back double digit wins, including a 107-78 win in game 3 Saturday at home. With their Saturday win the Heat have now covered 13 of the last 16 series against the Hawks at home.

Meanwhile, for Atlanta while the current roster of players are completely responsible for the franchise 12 game playoff road losing streak the current bunch of guys have lost the last 5 games in the streak, including four games in Boston last postseason and Sunday’s game again by 29 points.

Bottom line here is with the way O’Neal and Wade are playing for the Heat I just don’t see them losing at home tonight. In fact I see yet another double digit win for the Miami as they take a 3-1 series lead.

All Miami!

100♦ Boston Red Sox

Now in bonus baseball action I say go with the Red Sox plus the money tonight in Cleveland. Really not to hard of a call here and that is due to the fact that Boston is red hot having won their last 10 games overall and now go with Wakefield who has pitched great over his last two starts throwing a pair of complete games wins. Meanwhile, for Cleveland they and Cliff Lee have been major disappointments this season and given that they have lost 8 of their last 9 games against the Red Sox I see the Indians struggles continuing at home tonight. So sticking with the numbers I look for another strong performance out of Wakefield as Boston makes is 11 straight wins overall and 9 of 10 against the Indians.

All Boston!

Monday's 2-0 ticket
600-Unit NBA Super Shot - MIAMI HEAT

There must be something about the playoffs that doesn't allow the Hawks to score points on the road. They managed just 78 on Saturday at Miami in Game 3 of this series, and remember last season when they pushed the Celtics to 7 games, but just got destroyed in each game in Boston.
Miami has taken the last two games, including Saturday's 107-78 win as a four-point favorite. They have gotten great play from Jermaine O'Neal who has poured in 41 points and 16 rebounds to help get the Heat the 2-1 lead in the series. His emergence has given the Heat a second superstar to go along with Dwyane Wade and it has taken the Hawks by surprise.Atlanta has now lost 12 straight postseason games on the road dating back to 1997, and they lost the four games in Boston last season by an average of 26.4 points per game. You clearly see they aren't just losing road playoff games, hell, they aren't even showing up.Miami is on a 23-9 ATS run agaisnt the Hawks, including a whopping 13-3 ATS edge when they meet in South Beach. The Heat are 29-13 SU at home this season and the Hawks are a lousy 16-26 away from home. Atlanta has had a plethora of problems at the betting window lately, including 1-5 overall, 0-5 as a 'dog, 1-6 against winning teams and 1-4 after a day off.Miami is going to deliver again at home and do it in a big way. Play the Heat to win this one by 10 at least.

100-Unit N.L. Road Warrior - HOUSTON ASTROS
(play only with Oswalt as listed pitcher for Houston)

The Astros must love the ballpark in Cincinnati as they've won nine straight and 15 of 16 in the Reds house and tonight they open a three-game set there with ace Roy Oswalt (0-2, 4.68 ERA) on the mound. We love Oswalt and this guy is tough as nails agaisnt the Reds, going 8-0 with a 2.15 ERA in his last nine starts against the Reds and he's 23-1 with a 2.39 ERA in 27 starts and two relief appearances for his career against Cincinnati. The Reds will start Johnny Cueto (1-1, 2.55 ERA) tonight and he hasn't been so good against the Astros, going 0-3 with a 6.75 ERA in five career starts.Houston got a 3-2 win against the Brewers on Sunday and they ended a three-game losing streak. In this amazing nine-game home losing streak the Reds starters have an 8.37 ERA. They just can't seem to do anything right agaisnt the Astros.Houston is beginning an eight-game road trip tonight and they have to get it started on the right foot and Oswalt knows this better than anybody. He will step up and deliver a strong outing tonight, so play the Astros.

Just Curious...

Marc Lawrence

Atlanta Hawks

Where does this pick come from, because I try to follow Marc Lawrence close, and I know tonight his free pick is on the L.A. Dodgers, and for his "Top Trends of the Day", on his web site he has the following...

<TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 width=152 border=0><TBODY><TR><TD height=24>Today's Top Trends
</TD></TR><TR><TD><TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=2 border=0><TBODY><TR><TD width=140>
<SCRIPT type=text/javascript><!--ajaxinclude("/ecps/pages/trends_index.php?PHPSESSID=0768521070eead66e4d0fd2ed51a0861")//--></SCRIPT><LINK href="/stylesheetmainR.css" type=text/css rel=STYLESHEET><TABLE cellSpacing=0 cellPadding=0 border=0><TBODY><TR><TD width=230>ATLANTA (48 - 37) at MIAMI (45 - 40) - 4/27/2009, 7:05 PM</TD></TR><TR><TD width=230>ATLANTA is 1-10 ATS (-10.0 Units) in road games in the first round of the playoffs since 1996.

So... I'm just curious, as to why his pick would be Atlanta, when he wants us to take MIAMI... Thanks for any info.....

I say Miami Bangs it home Tonight!!!:devilex:

tonyosports 2-0 yesterday

After taking a Game 3 thumping, the Atlanta Hawks will look to rebound & tie their 1st rd series up with the Miami Heat tonight from AmericanAirlinesArena.

Dwyane Wade led the way with 29 points, 8 assists & 7 rebounds for the Heat, but Jermaine O' Neal showed flashes of youth with 22 points & 10 rebounds.

For O'Neal, it's his first 20-10 game since December 20th, 2008 against San Antonio. (O'Neal scored 24 points & grabbed 10 rebounds as a member of the Toronto Raptors)

Mike Bibby, Al Horford & Josh Smith each scored 13 points apiece for Atlanta, who were outrebounded 48-35 & shot just 37 percent for the game.

I expect the Hawks to bounce back with a MUCH better effort tonight.

All Hawks!

The Baltimore Orioles will try to earn a split tonight in the finale of their 4-game series against the Texas Rangers at Camden Yards.

Orioles righthander Jeremy Guthrie (2-1, 5.16 ERA) will be opposed by Rangers southpaw Matt Harrison (0-2, 9.00 ERA).

Guthrie is a perfect 2-0 in 3 career starts against Texas with a 4.15 ERA. Jeremy's last win against the Rangers came on August 8th, 2008 when he allowed 1 run on 5 hits in 7 innings pitched during Baltimore's 9-1 win.

Harrison won his only career start against Baltimore on August 10th, 2008 despite giving up 6 runs on 10 hits in just 5 innings of work during Texas' 15-7 win.

Look for an explosive slugfest tonight, but at the end Baltimore will prevail to earn a split.

All Orioles!

Analysis:
This is a great situation for New Orleans tonight as they came home down 0-2 and got the win in a must win situation. They only won by 2 in Game 3 and while many would think that Denver would bounce back tonight I'm not one of them. The fact that New Orleans got the win after being blown out twice in Denver will give them the needed confidence in Game 4 to pull off another win. Vegas has shaved this line in anticipation of Denver Money that will be coming in on this game. This has been one of my absolute strongest winning scenarios in the Playoffs. Home teams who struggle to get the win with their backs to the wall are an extremely high percentage play in the next game when playing at home again. My numbers have New Orleans winning this game by 7-10 points. This is my 10* NBA Playoff 1st Rd Game of the Year.

Analysis:
Road Dog coming off a blowout loss and road dog again has been a high percentage play. In fact Miami covered Game 2 in this exact same scenario after getting blown out in Game One. Look for history to repeat itself. Atlanta evens the series here take the Points.
