NBA Playoffs Betting News & Notes
NBA Investigates Threats To Wizards: The Washington Wizards received terrorist threats on Twitter during their first-round playoff series from a person whom the National Basketball Association investigated. Wizards center Marcin Gortat said the individual apparently did not take kindly to Washington ousting the Chicago Bulls. The tweets came after the Wizards' Game #2 win in Chicago.

"He was saying there was a bomb on the plane and stuff, that my country's going to get bombed and all my family's going to die, just stuff like that. Just everyday stuff," said Gortat, who is from Poland. The NBA does not comment on security issues, but Gortat said, "Some people already visited him." The Wizards, who dispatched the Bulls in five games, face the winner of the Indiana-Atlanta series in the second round.

Friday's MLB betting cheat sheet: Over value in pitching duel

Here's a comprehensive look at betting notes for Friday's MLB betting action:

Rocky Mountain High

A late New York Mets rally allowed the Colorado Rockies to remain one of the strongest Over plays in the National League. New York scored four times in the final two innings of a 7-4 loss in Colorado, improving the Rockies to 19-9-2 O/U.

Dueling Aces

The low total of the day (6.5) belongs to the matchup between Washington's Stephen Strasburg and Philadelphia's Cliff Lee. But Under bettors beware: Strasburg is 5-1 O/U in his first six starts on the season, while Lee is 3-2-1 O/U.

Road Rules

Road favorites have come through in a big way so far in 2014, going 71-53 against the moneyline. There are three road faves on Friday's schedule: St. Louis (-165) visiting the Chicago Cubs, the Los Angeles Dodgers (-128) in Miami, and Seattle (-184) playing in Houston.

Pitching Notes

* San Francisco hurler Tim Lincecum has provided plenty of value away from AT&T Park of late, leading the Giants to a 5-1 mark in his last six appearances as a road underdog. Lincecum and the Giants are +135 for Friday's game in Atlanta.

* Pittsburgh Pirates right-hander Gerrit Cole was the hottest Over play in the majors for a stretch, but that trend may be shifting. Cole, who has gone Under in back-to-back starts following seven straight Over, will face Brandon Morrow and the Toronto Blue Jays (+132, 7.5) in Friday's series opener.

Hitting Notes

* Braves outfielder B.J. Upton homered in Thursday's 5-4 loss to Miami, marking the first time the Braves have lost a game in which Upton goes deep. Yet, while Atlanta dropped to 9-1 overall in games featuring an Upton homer, its streak of Overs in such situations remained intact at 10-0 O/U.

* Mets third baseman David Wright is just 4-for-35 over his last nine games, during which New York has gone 2-5-2 O/U.

Total Streaks

Miami Marlins (4-1-1 O/U): The Marlins closed out an impressive sweep of the visiting Braves Thursday, racking up 23 runs in three games against one of the most impressive pitching rotations in baseball.

Prop of the Day

The Chicago White Sox are installed as a +100 underdog to be the last team to score a run in Friday's game against the host Cleveland Indians. The White Sox lead the majors with 67 runs scored from the seventh inning on.

Injury Watch

* Cincinnati Reds speedster Billy Hamilton is expected to miss a couple of days with sprained knuckles. Hamilton is among the league leaders with 11 stolen bases. The Reds are 7-2 and 3-6 O/U in games in which he swipes at least one bag.

Weather Watch

* It could be a high-scoring day at Wrigley Field between the Cubs and the Cardinals. The wind is expected to blow out to center field at 11 mph. Teams averaged better than 13 runs per game last season when the wind was blowing in that direction.

* The Boston Red Sox and visiting Oakland Athletics may also see a bump in scoring. With the wind expected to blow out to right field at 9 mph, teams combined to average 10.38 runs in 20 games in 2013 when the wind blew out in that direction.

Umpire Stat of the Day

The home team is 6-0 in umpire Jerry Layne's last six games behind home plate. Layne will work the balls and strikes for Cincinnati's series opener against visiting Milwaukee.

** Odds, stats, weather forecast and probable pitchers as of 9:20 a.m. ET Friday.

The 25-year-old sinkerballer has made 15 career starts against Kansas City, logging a 6-3 record with a 4.55 ERA and .288 batting average against. The 30-year-old allowed just three runs in 12 2/3 innings in two starts versus Minnesota last year. He is 3-1 with a 2.63 ERA in four career starts at Target Field.

Opponents have recorded at least 10 hits in three of Nolasco's five starts, including April 24 at Tampa Bay, which got to him for six runs and 10 hits in six innings. #927 TEXAS @ #928 LA ANGELS - 10:05 PM
•Rangers RH Colby Lewis (1-1, 4.60 ERA, WHIP: 1.469) - Lewis hasn’t been flashy but he’s been remarkably consistent in the three starts since returning from a 21-month absence due to elbow and hip surgeries. He has lasted between five and 5 1/3 innings in each outing and hasn’t allowed more than a run in any of those frames. He has been tough to score on during his recent appearances in Anaheim, owning a 1-2 mark with a 2.03 ERA in his last four starts there.

•Angels LH Hector Santiago (0-4, 4.44 ERA, WHIP: 1.443) - Santiago went winless in April with his new club and failed to get through six innings in all but one of his five starts. #929 TORONTO @ #930 PITTSBURGH - 7:05 PM
•Blue Jays RH Brandon Morrow (1-2, 6.04 ERA, WHIP: 1.567) - Morrow did not allow a hit in his last outing, but he'd rather bury the memory of a disastrous stint in which he walked a career-high eight batters and yielded four runs in only 2 2/3 innings of a loss at Boston. He has gone past five innings in only one of his five starts, when he fanned a season-high nine in six innings against Houston on April 9 - his only victory. Morrow has issued 14 walks and struck out 11 in a combined 11 1/3 innings over his past three outings.

•Pirates RH Gerrit Cole (2-2, 3.18 ERA, WHIP: 1.265) - Like Morrow, Cole is winless in his last three turns despite back-to-back strong starts in which he has permitted only two runs in 15 frames, including a 1-0 loss to St. Louis last time out. The No. 1 overall pick in the 2011 draft has pitched at least six innings in 13 consecutive regular-season starts dating to Aug. 16, 2013. Cole endured some struggles at home during last year's rookie campaign, but he has yielded only five runs in his last four starts at PNC Park.
