The Thrashers returned home from a tough trip in its last game and they were predictably very flat. They didn’t even belong on the same ice with the Sabres and were thoroughly outplayed from start to finish. Pay no attention to that stinker. They happen. Now the Thrashers have been home for a few days and they’ll be much more prepared here. This is a solid squad that already has wins over Washington, Anaheim and San Jose, the latter two on the road. The Thrashers were embarrassed Wednesday and the players all acknowledged it. The Lightning played last night and that game took a lot out of them. It was a hard fought affair that went into OT and after the game the Bolts flew into Atlanta and got to their hotel about 2:30 AM today. They’ll also have Mike Smith in net and he’s a downgrade from Dan Ellis. This is a favorable spot for the Thrashers and it’s also an important game for them after that dull effort on Wednesday. Play: Atlanta -½ +1.37 (Risking 2 units).

Florida faces is whether new HC Skip Holtz will eventually be able to tame
athletic but erratic soph QB Daniels into capable triggerman for his offense.
Short term, just know that Daniels (5 ints., no TDP last two games) is struggling.
Bulls’ bumbling attack stands in stark contrast to purring Bearcat strike force led
by confident jr. QB Collaros (17 TDP, only 3 ints.) and jr. RB Pead (511 YR in

After a 1-3 start Cincinnati is back to .500 and the Bearcats have featured a
very strong rush defense, allowing just 108 yards per game on 3.3 yards per
carry. South Florida as scored just 15 points in two conference games which
has made it difficult to get wins even though the defense is allowing less than
17 points per game. QB play has been the biggest problem for the Bulls as
B.J. Daniels has endured a disastrous start to his sophomore season,
throwing just four touchdown passes and ten interceptions. After rushing for
over 1,000 yards last season Daniels has not been the same threat on the
ground this season either. This is the second straight week on the road for
the Bulls in primetime after losing last week at West Virginia with only 202
yards of offense. Cincinnati has won six in a row in this series and given the
much tougher schedule faced the numbers look more promising for the
Bearcats, a team that is 14-1 S/U at home the last two plus years with the

lone loss coming by just two points to Oklahoma. CINCINNATI BY 13
