1) L.A. Angels vs Toronto Blue Jays

Pick: L.A. Angels (5 units)

The Angels (73-46) have the second best record in the majors. They are a force to reckon with and have been devouring weak to mediocre teams all year long winning 23 of their last 27 contests versus opponents with losing records. The Jays are 2-9 in their last 11 versus opponents with winning records. The reason that the Angels are the underdog is because they are on the road and starting Sean O’Sullivan (3-1, 5.91). Although O’Sullivan’s numbers are not attractive by any means, the Angels are 7-1 in his 8 starts this year. He will square off against Marc Rzepcynski (1-3, 3.98). The Jays are 1-5 in Rzepcynski’s last 6 starts. Additionally, the Angels are 7-1 in their last 8 as a road underdog +110 to +150. Toronto is 1-8 in their last 9 games as a favourite of -110 to -150. Angels are 5-2 in their last 7 meetings in Toronto.

Lay 5 units on the Angels.

2) Baltimore Orioles vs Chicago White Sox

Pick: Chicago -1.5 (3 units)

The White Sox show significant value on the runline in this pitching mismatch. Gavin Floyd (10-7, 3.94) takes the mound. The White Sox are 24-6 in his last 30 home starts and 6-1 in his last 7 home starts versus a team with a losing record. He will square off against Jeremy Guthrie (7-12, 5.66). The Orioles are 0-4 in his last 4 starts versus a team with a winning record. Additionally, the White Sox are 8-2 in their last 10 contests versus a right handed starter. Baltimore is 3-12 in its last 15 versus a right handed starter.

Lay 3 units on Chicago runline.

1* Bonus Play on cleveland
Cleveland is tearing the cover off the ball lately as a team in their last 5 games they have put up 29 runs and has games where they hit .316, 333, .342, and .444 last night off Lackey who had been pitching lights out. In their last 10 games they are hitting .340 off lefties and that is what they get tonight in Lucas French. French has a 5.49 road era. He is also coming off his best effort yet , a 6 inn 0 run performance vs the yanks. Young pitchers tend to struggle after a big performance like that. Look for Seattle which lost a big lead yesterday to come out flat vs the lefty Huff as the tribe get the W tonight

MINNESOTA VS. KANSAS CITY
PLAY: KANSAS CITY +3 POD

The Vikings return home off an impressive 10 point win over the Colts. This week the Vikings dominated headlines with the signing of Brett Favre. Favre is expected to start before giving way to Rosenfels and Jackson. Meanwhile, the Chiefs are coming off a 16-10 loss to the Texans in a game where starting QB Matt Cassel struggled. Cassel will extra work tonight before giving way to Croyle and Thigpen. The Chiefs find themselves in the same situation as the Bengals last night which involves week 2 preseason underdogs with zero wins – these teams have covered the number 2/3 of the time over the long run (54-28 L82). In another very strong angle week 2 teams coming off a poor previous season are an incredible 27-9 ATS L36 when playing on the road and against an opponent coming off a good or average season. All signs point to Minny, especially at home and with the return of Favre, but I love the Chiefs to get their first preseason win just like the Bengals did last night under the same set of circumstances!

PREDICTION: KANSAS CITY 17 MINNESOTA 13

2 Unit Play. #921 Take Under 10 ½ (+100) NY Yankees at Boston (Friday 8/21 7:10 PM)

The Yankees are 2-8 O/U following a SU win and the Red Sox are 6-20-1 O/U as an underdog. The last 8 meetings in Boston 6 of them have gone under the total.

3 Unit Play. #928 Take Chicago White Sox –1 ½ +105 over Baltimore (Friday 8/21 8:10 PM)

Baltimore starter Jeremy Guthrie is 7-12 with a 5.66 ERA. Guthrie's winless streak reached five starts (0-4) and tonight we should see the same outcome in Chicago. The White Sox are looking for W’s and stay close to Detroit in the Al Central. The White Sox are 17-8 in their last 25 home games.

4 Unit Play. Take Under 8 between the Florida Marlins @ Atlanta Braves (Friday @ 7:30pm est). These teams and pitchers are familiar with each other. Both teams are tied for the division at 64-57. Its actually quite amazing the Braves are only 6.5 games back of the division lead and 4 games back of the Rockies for the wild card - the Marlins are the same disance as well as both teams have the same record. Anibal Sanchez has great talent and he has been banged up with injuries this year. He came back to face the Braves at Atlanta on April 16th and went 6 innings and gave up just 2 runs en route to a Florida 6-2 win. He faced the Braves again on May 7th and lost 2-4 at home. He has not made a start since June as he looks to come back into form today. Vasquez comes off a dissappointing 1-4 loss to the Phillies at home. Prior to that start, he had put togethr 8 of 9 quality starts as he is 6-1-1 over his last 8 starts. I believe both pitchers pitch well today as this is for second place in the division as this game is likely a pitcher's duel. The Under is 12-2-1 when Sanchez is an Underdog and the Under is 6-0-1 in Vasquez's last 7 home starts.

4 Unit Play. #605. Take Washington Mystics +7 @ Phoenix Mercury (Friday @ 10pm est). The Mystics are 12-13 and they are right in the thick of things for the playoffs. They have a very important game out west in Phoenix today as they look to .500 for the season. With the Dream winning the other night, the Mystics must together a strong effort today. Plus, when these two teams last met this year, Phoenix won 93-87. However, the Mystics actually outscored the Mercury by 8 points the remaining 3 quarters. It was simply the first quarter that this team struggled terribly as they fell behind early by 13 points. I look for them to get on a much faster start today. Washington also comes off a tough 3 point loss to the Sparks at Staples and a tough 1 point loss to the Liberty at home. They need this game. Phoenix comes off a big win at Chicago and I can see them having a let down here today. The Mystics are 4-1 ATS on the road of late, they have revenge here, there has been reverse line movement in their favor and they are 4-1 ATS in their last 5 meetings in Phoenix.

Good luck,

IC

WNBA PLAYS

3 Unit Play. #605 Take Over 179 ½ Washington at Phoenix (Friday 8/21 10:05 PM)

Phoenix Mercury is averaging a league-high 92.6 points with Diana Taurasi’s 21.0 per game leading the WNBA. The Mercury have scored at least 100 points seven times this year. The last 6 meetings between these two teams 5 of them have gone over the total. Phoenix is 19-7 O/U in their last 26 home games. Washington is 4-1 O/U in their last 5 road games.
