NCAA National Basketball Championship
North Carolina (-7.5 Points) vs. Michigan State
While MSU has been the darling of the local fans in Detroit that does not erase the fact that North Carolina blew out the Spartans, 98-63, earlier this year. Yes, center Goran Suton missed that game and he is playing well now-but he’s not a game-changer in the scenario MSU faces tonight. Look for Ty Lawson, Tyler Hansbrough and company to once again overwhelm an opponent with superior fire power. MSU exposed U. CONN’s guards in their semi-final win. As North Carolina’s Ty Lawson is probably the best guard in America-that won’t happen tonight. Lawson will win the battle of the back court for the Tarheels and they will win this game and cover the spread tonight.

Cliff Lee the AL Cy Young award winner goes for the Indians against a Texas team starting a mediocre pitcher (Kevin Millwood) and a team that has a lot of new faces in its lineup. Most notable is new Rangers’ shortstop. Elvis Andrus, who hasn’t played past Double-A ball until this spring. Too many new faces for Texas and a top-flight pitcher going for the Indians tilts this one in Cleveland’s favor. Only a shaky spring by Lee has kept this wagering line down.

Joe Saunders is notoriously hot in the early part of the season and went 5-0, 2.08 ERA last April. Dallas Braden for the A’s is 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA lifetime against the Angels. Garrett Anderson is no longer an Angel and Bobby Abreu is not the hitter Anderson is as a replacement. If both pitchers play to form this game easily goes under the total.
