about time to start laying some 2008 predictions

I'll start by saying an "official" recession in 2Q or 3Q 08, oil at $125 gold at least $1100....not sure about the s&P but in nominal terms will not be pretty

FED really mismanaged this, or maybe it was by design, who knows....the end game is near though.....which is a hyper-inflationary depression, followed by the end of paper currencys as we know it sometime in 09-10

time to get the bunker in order. nice call woof and tiz et all.

PS - still think the money drops will cause hyper-inflation before deflation sets in.

yeah since stuff started to unwind looks like hyperinflation (well i'd call it hyperstagflation) better bet than deflation

also this is the less painful option for a nation in gobs of debt, the debt burden becomes less with inflation, and more with deflation

savers screw you or you better be smart and get the fuck outta USD dominated assets

There was fear amongst many when the notion that Abu Dhabi would be hired to watch ports of US interest.

But hardly a smidgen of concern when they buy up sick US banks.

I'm sure there are many a muslim waiting to come over here and buy up some cheap housing. The shieks will send the ghetto muslims to America so the tax payer can take care of them.

Not good.

speaking of cheap homes

-------------------------------------------

S&P: 3Q Home Prices Fall by 4.5 Percent
Tuesday November 27, 9:52 am ET
By J.W. Elphinstone, AP Business Writer
S&P Says 3rd-Quarter Housing Prices Dropped by Sharpest Rate in Index's 21-Year History

NEW YORK (AP) -- U.S. home prices fell 4.5 percent in the third quarter from a year earlier, the sharpest drop since Standard & Poor's began its nationwide housing index in 1987 and another sign that the housing slump is far from over, the research group said Tuesday.

Looks like someone at google has their head screwed on.

----------------------------

Google's cheaper-than-coal target
Search giant Google is investing hundreds of millions of dollars in renewable energy technologies.
The Californian firm wants to make green energy sources of electricity cheaper than that produced from coal.

Its new initiative is known as RE < C, and will focus initially on solar thermal power, wind power and enhanced geothermal systems.

The support, to be chanelled through philanthropic arm Google.org, will go to firms, R&D labs and universities.

Google also plans to do research itself, and will be hiring its own engineers and energy experts.

"With talented technologists, great partners and significant investments, we hope to rapidly push forward," said Larry Page, Google Co-founder.

"Our goal is to produce one gigawatt of renewable energy capacity that is cheaper than coal. We are optimistic this can be done in years, not decades."

One gigawatt can power a city the size of San Francisco, one of California's biggest cities.

Google is already backing fuel-efficient cars. Google.org is giving out grants to help commercialise plug-in hybrids and fully electric vehicles.

The company itself has a 1.6-megawatt solar panel system installed at its headquarters in Mountain View, California.

Meanwhile corporate and political twits worry about educating poor people....'cos that might be dangerous...

Times they are a-changing...

---------------------------

A lack of "big thinking" by politicians has stifled a scheme to distribute laptops to children in the developing world, a spokesman has said.
Walter Bender of One Laptop per Child (OLPC) said politicians were unwilling to commit because "change equals risk".

But, he said, there needed to be a "dramatic change" because education in many countries was "failing" children.

In an interview with the BBC, Nigeria's education minister questioned the need for laptops in poorly equipped schools.

Very True. Of course Dubai wanted to Watch our ports. it wants to protect all their billions of dollars in investments it has in the US.

Don't forget that Prince Al-walid of Saudi Arabia has been Citibanks largest shareholder for years.
