recession is two consecutive quarters of negative GDP growth by definition not there yet

that said alot of people in the middle to lower class are hurting right now and feel like they are in a recession

i know my cost of living has been going through the roof as i only spend money on the necessities (insurance, rent, food, gas, utilities) except for a few vices of mine

well i'm in the lower/middle class income wise myself and i'm not feeding off the welfare one bit

plus i'm not really sure what that has to do with anything i'm sure those that are they are sucking on welfare aren't seeing an the same increase in welfare to keep up with the inflation in the necessities i was talking about above

you pay a self employment tax (this is you paying the FULL amount for social security and medicare you don't have a company picking up half the tab), income tax, etc

plus state taxes

between all the various taxes

for 99.9% of the people in that category, the only taxes they pay is the 12.5% SE tax...zero fed and zero state. trust me....if one is paying more they're an idiot.

and even the 12.5% they pay is usually not off the true number, after all deductions

self employed small businessman is the only way to go...the tax advantages are tremendous

you still pay federal and state on that income as well on it

you have to fill out a schedule C for self employment wages and enter that income into line 12 on the federal 1040 to be specific

and no, if you are making 30K or 40K as a small biz man you will not be paying FED or State tax, because you should only have around $20K in taxable income.

Most people in the lower income tax bracket (self employed business people generally excluded) are not educated on the system enough to take advantage of many of the tax breaks allowed to them. Millions of dollars a year are spent trying to advertise and ensure these tax breaks are used.
