perhaps but other than a couple kids that went to Oregon and the 5-star RB that went to USC like 5-6 years ago I can't really think of any high end LA kids that went outside of SEC. pretty easy to figure out based on rivals' state rankings each year.

here was LY breakdown...

using top 20 players from the state:
2015 LSU - 12 SEC, 8 non SEC (only 1 in top 9 went outside of SEC though....Notre Dame)
2015 MISS - 17 SEC, 3 non SEC (entire 1-9 went to either Miss St or Ole Miss)
2015 ALA - 15 SEC, 5 non SEC (only 1 of top 11 went outside SEC....wisconsin somehow pulled a kid out of hoover)

Coach should be getting ready to run that marathon about now.

While I'm watching the US Open and drinking coffee...he'll be in Alaska pounding 26 miles.

Hurts me to think about it but all of here at RX CFB wish him well!

keeping with the saban tradition of scheduling a big non conference game in AUG or SEPT the Tide signed to play Florida State in Atlanta for the 2017 opener. this will likely to be the first event held in the new Falcons Stadium which will be one damn impressive structure.

Since Saban arrived in 2007 the big early season non conference games have been Florida State, Clemson, Va Tech, State Penn home/home, Michigan, Va Tech, WVU.... with Wisconsin, USC, and FSU up next.

I can understand Saban's thinking here. If you are going to lose, lose early. He also realizes that the SEC has caught up to Alabama and the rest of the Power 5 conferences have either passed, caught up to or are catching up to the SEC. Getting a win over a named school is a great way to start the season.

They will also be making a 3rd trip to Dallas in either 2019 or 2020 (pending espn's approval of opponent)

Saban wanting important teams opening week was planned and for a purpose. Do players work harder offseason preparing
for Middle Tennessee or Wisconsin? He knew exactly the purpose of opening the season with named opponents.

PREPARATION during the offseason! Think some of the other coaches have caught on....I think so.

Not surprised by Georgia but a little shocked that Louisiana hasn't produced more SEC players. Behind
Alabama and Mississippi is a shocker to me. Louisiana certainly produces some top tier talent even if
the numbers aren't there.

Good stuff RT.

CL, I'm really surprised about Georgia being higher than Florida. Florida, Texas and California produce the most college football players nationally, so you'd figure the state would be tops in the SEC (or at least that's how I figure it). Agree that Louisiana seems low, I'd never figure they'd be behind Mississippi.

Best of luck Partner...it hurts me to drive 26 miles much less think about running that distance.

9 to 5 sub 3:15
7 to 5 sub 3:30
3 to 2 sub 3:45

Trust you have been putting in the miles the past few months............

CL, I had a rough go of it in Alaska....my worst time in 18 marathons! I guess I'm washed up.....

Florida lands legacy OL transfer

http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsport...ansfers-to-gators-to-be-closer-to-ailing-dad/

This is good news for UF's depleted OL. 6'2 305lb freshman TJ McCoy (son of former UF DT Tony McCoy) is transferring from NC State to Florida after participating in spring drills at NC State.

A member of North Carolina State’s most recent recruiting class, as it turns out, won’t ever play a down for the Wolfpack because of a family situation.

The father of T.J. MCoy, former Florida Gator star Tony McCoy, has been battling leukemia the last four years. Despite the obvious ties to the Gators, and his father’s health issues. the younger McCoy still signed with the Wolfpack coming out of high school in Groveland, Fla., less than an hour and a half from Gainesville.

McCoy enrolled early at NCSU, taking part in spring practice this year in the hopes of seeing early playing time. Instead, a return home last month opened McCoy’s eyes to the need to be closer to his father.

“When I came home and I saw my dad’s condition, I thought to myself, ‘I have to be home. I have to be closer to him to help out,'” T.J. McCoy told the Orlando Sentinel. “When I saw him at home and saw how he was hurting and struggling, I knew I just had to be home and help out.

Starting Missouri DL Seriously Injured in Car Accident

http://collegefootballtalk.nbcsport...rold-brantley-seriously-injured-in-car-crash/

Missouri defensive lineman Harold Brantley was reportedly seriously injured in a car crash Sunday afternoon.

Brantley was inside a car that swerved off the highway (US-63) just south of Columbia, South Carolina. Ashley Zavala of KRCG in Missouri, who has been updating the story on her Twitter timeline reports the 21-year old was attempting to correct his car while traveling on the left side of the highway and slid off the right side of the highway and hit a guard rail after over-correcting, per Missouri State Highway Control’s initial findings.

Brantley was traveling with Missouri women’s basketball player Madeleine Stock, who was treated for minor injuries. Neither was reportedly wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident.

Last season Brantley played in 14 games, starting in 10 of those, for the SEC East Division champions. In those games he was responsible for 54 tackles and five sacks.

2017 now 3 out of 4 OOC are done-deals:
FSU in Atlanta (won ACC 2014)
Colorado St at home (10-3 LY)
Fresno St at home (played for MWC title 2014, won it in 2013)

4th should be some D1AA scrub that will make one of our resident cvnts create a post talking about how weak Bama's schedule is with 8 SEC games, FSU, Colorado St, and Fresno St. stay tuned
