then pony up the 300 mill for a new arena and hope another team wants to move in the next 5 years or so

I don't think it's gonna happen. The politicians are against handing out that kind of money with the economy the way it is. I doubt voters(not including sports fans) will have a problem down the road with no NBA team.

Long term vision is lacking.

Again though, the NBA product is substantially over-rated.

For the same reason NBC overpays for the Olympics, so they can advertise their other shows on the air.

If CBS/FOX did not have football, I couldn't tell you 1 show Fox has and 3 shows CBS has besides 60 Minutes and 2 and Half Men.

This how they attempt to generate viewers. Do you really think the networks are profiting from the NFL deal?

Short of the NBA Finals the ratings have been in the toilet.

I won't get into the reasons why, but you seem smart enough to figure it out.

No it doesn't.

Nice to see the city of Seattle stand to the wishes of the NBA because they are smart enough to not be extorted by the league. Shame on the owners for letting this ownership group in the league.

The history is staying in Seattle along with the name and team colors. The only thing Bennett the crook is doing is making replica banners to hang from the rafters. Fuck the NBA.

Of course a lot on the radio last night and today and heard that if Seattle doesn't have a NBA team in the five year period then Bennett gets all the banners, trophies and so forth.

The more I know the less I understand, city officials caved big time at the eleventh hour and it's mind boggling.

One pundit pointed out that Bennett stated to stay 2 more years till lease expires he would lose 65 million,so why settle for 45?

Hell ask for 100 and Bennett pays that goes home to make profits instead of staying and losing money.

What a cluster fuck.

Internationally obviously it does, but domestically it isn't even close.

You really believe that Fox, CBS, and ESPN are profiting of these teams. FOX and CBS even admitting to want the NFL just to keep it away from the other networks back in 1998.

Americans will continue to be stupid and be held hostage by sports teams, until a real stance is taken by sports fans, nothing will ever change.

Allow every team to be owned like GB and you won't ever have to worry about teams moving and new stadiums.

globally is what i meant. i could see why espn would be willing to pay that much since more people globally follow the league then say the nfl which is just an american league. more exposure in other countries, more opportunities.

how much do you think the nfl makes these networks?

60 Minutes is pne of CBS' biggest moneymakers, and it follows the NFL in its time slot. All the promos for Everyone Loves Raymond and other shows get huge plugs on NFL games.

Exactly, that is what I said earlier. That is how they offset their cost of overpaying for Sporting Events.

So many people say they are sports fans, but to me (I include myself in this group) most people don't watch sports unless they are diehards or gamblers.

You watch though Addict, all the tree huggers and liberal ass suckers will probably reward the dems with re-election votes.

My vote is for Rossi!

You know when this first started to happen about Sonics leaving I could of given two shits about stay or go as NBA can suck my hairy balls.

But as it came to the fore front and listening to Softy on the radio, love his passion,it got like these forum wars us vs them and Bennett is a lying back stabbing hypocrite and I hate liars and hypocrites.

Softy mentioned the people of OKC are embasresed as to how they got the team and Bennett's in laws own the local paper and it's all peaches and cream in the ink.

Howard Shultz will keep the drama going though?

Stern really dropped the ball by not allowing the Hornets to relocate there from New Orleans.

Howard is gonna settle for money just like the city. He doesn't have a leg to stand on. He'll go to court to try and get back some of his rep he lost when he sold the team to a guy everyone knew was going to move them.

Howard don't care. Howard be rich.

Rossi will whipe the floor with that dumb bitch Gregoire. If they had a line out for it I would unload on Dino to win.

He couldn't take the Hornets from NO after Katrina.

Why not? This is a business right? We didn't deserve to get our team stolen from us anymore than anyone else. Not trying to sound like an asshole or anything, but to say New Orleans in its current state could support an NBA team longterm over Seattle would probably be wrong.

Addict, you are applying common sense and logic and forgetting what whores the NBA is to temporary resolutions.
