Building Permit Tax -Now we have fire codes & building codes that make the structures we live/work in substantially safer.
CDL license Tax- While the DMV is a nightmare bureaucratic behemoth, 100 years ago there were about nine cars in the United States.
Cigarette Tax -You're going to pay here one way or another - either in increased healthcare premiums or the smokers get to contribute to the state healthcare system that is going to give them some healthcare when they have COPD & lung cancer.
Corporate Income Tax -Corporations use the infrastructure of the country, they impose costs to the system by their business practices, they should contribute.
Dog License Tax -eehhhhh, kind of need some regulation on pets (see Vick, Michael), and it's pretty minimal "tax"
Federal Income Tax -Nice having military bases in over 125 countries, right? How do you think we built all those nukes and pay for all of these nifty invasions?
Federal Unemployment Tax (FUTA) -works in combination with the states, to provide a safety net for people who lose their jobs through reasons beyond their control.
Fishing License Tax -Dept. of Fish & Game - Unregulated use means there'd be no more Fish or Game left.
Food License Tax -Don;t know what thi is
Fuel permit tax -too vague to refute - there are such fees/taxes, but they have to do with regulation of commercial transportation or special fuels
Gasoline Tax (42 cents per gallon) -duh duh duh, roads, overpasses, bridges, etc.

Inheritance Tax -been in place for over 90 years (since 1916) and it's purpose is to militate against the formation of a permanent wealthy class.
Interest expense -OK, this is a tax deduction
Inventory tax -No sure on this one, some states seem to charge a tax on certain items, the IRS does not charge an "inventory" tax, you are required to account for your inventory for the purposes of calculating the business income
IRS Interest Charges IRS Penalties (tax on top of tax) -Late fee for losers who don't pay their taxes
Liquor Tax -Same as cigarette above
Luxury Taxes -Why should you pay an additional tax because you bought something expensive? Because you can afford it.
Marriage License Tax- You need a marriage license to prove marriage (for legal reasons) so somehow the cost of documenting the marriage needs to be covered.
Medicare Tax -Levied with the belief that in America we should care about those who cannot afford medical care on their own.
Property Tax -Schools, parks, fire, emergency services, 911
Real Estate Tax -Huh? No such thing.
Service charge taxes -Again??? Huh? no such thing.
Social Security Tax -No comment. If you don't understand this one...
Road usage taxes -It's called a "Toll Road" you don't have to drive on it.
Sales Tax -libraries, municipal infrastructure, emergency services
Recreational Vehicle Tax- to mitigate the cost to the environment/citizens as a result of the action of people who buy RVs/
School Tax -Covered under property tax or depending on where you are in the country, a separate tax, but duh.
State Income Tax -To cover the unfunded mandates by the federal government - like "No Child Left Behind", and assorted other things like prisons, firefighters, etc.
State Unemployment Tax (SUTA) -See FUTA above.
Telephone federal excise tax, Telephone federal universal service fee tax, Telephone federal, state and local surcharge taxes, Telephone minimum usage surcharge tax, Telephone recurring and non-recurring charges tax, Telephone state and local tax, Telephone usage charge tax- These taxes fund 911, emergency response, and rural 911 in addition to funding regulation of the telecom industry (so that AT&T, or whoever, can't try bait and switch advertising, for example, or can't dig up your street and then not repave it).
Utility Taxes -Federal & state governements do regulate the utility industry (see, for example, Enron)
