Actually one of the biggest problems is that when Bush took over in 2001 California received about 90 cents for every dollar it sent to Washington. Now it's down to about 65 cents.

Damnit Dave, I'm trying to Be Funny here and you're getting Suddenly Serious

Now sit down

Not there

Not there

Okay...I called them "Quitters" because they Quit trying to make it in California. Now they are Americans living in sin....errrrr....Las Vegas NV, the way God intended them to live

for now

until they quit and invade Utah and make the Mormon-driven government open sportsbooks and casinos with almost naked dancers.

we cool, now Dawg?

Actually I’m not upset just pointing out the error in your ways (being a LIB) and not standing up for truth, justice, and the American way. (I heard that somewhere when I was a kid). I don’t see them invading Utah because other than some great skiing and some pretty scenery it’s a bland state. It appears to be the other way around with many Mormons migrating to Nevada. Contrary to popular belief they are nice people who for the most part mind their own business. Now if you’ll excuse me I have to annoy 3peet. (<)<

The Tax Poem

At first I thought this was funny...then I realized the awful truth of it. Be sure to read all the way to the end!

Tax his land,
Tax his bed,
Tax the table
At which he's fed.

Tax his tractor,
Tax his mule,
Teach him taxes
Are the rule.
Tax his work,
Tax his pay,
He works for peanuts
Anyway!

Tax his cow,
Tax his goat,
Tax his pants,
Tax his coat.
Tax his ties,
Tax his shirt,
Tax his work,
Tax his dirt.
Tax his tobacco,
Tax his drink,
Tax him if he;
Tries to think.

Tax his cigars,
Tax his beers,
If he cries
Tax his tears.

Tax his car,
Tax his gas,
Find other ways
To tax his ass.
Tax all he has
Then let him know
That you won't be done
Till he has no dough.

When he screams and hollers,
Then tax him some more,
Tax him till
He's good and sore.

Then tax his coffin,
Tax his grave,
Tax the sod in
Which he's laid.

Put these words
Upon his tomb,
'Taxes drove me to my doom...'

When he's gone,
Do not relax,
Its time to apply

Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago, and our nation was the most prosperous in the world.

We had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middleclass in the world, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.

What in the hell happened? Can you spell 'politicians?'

I hope this goes around THE USA at least 100 times!!!!! YOU can help it get there!!!!

GO AHEAD - - - BE AN AMERICAN!!!!!!

The inheritance tax. -actually called the estate tax: 90 years in existence.

Accounts Receivable Tax -No such thing

Building Permit Tax -Now we have fire codes & building codes that make the structures we live/work in substantially safer.

CDL license Tax- While the DMV is a nightmare bureaucratic behemoth, 100 years ago there were about nine cars in the United States.

Cigarette Tax -You're going to pay here one way or another - either in increased healthcare premiums or the smokers get to contribute to the state healthcare system that is going to give them some healthcare when they have COPD & lung cancer.

Corporate Income Tax -Corporations use the infrastructure of the country, they impose costs to the system by their business practices, they should contribute.

Dog License Tax -eehhhhh, kind of need some regulation on pets (see Vick, Michael), and it's pretty minimal "tax"

Federal Income Tax -Nice having military bases in over 125 countries, right? How do you think we built all those nukes and pay for all of these nifty invasions?

Federal Unemployment Tax (FUTA) -works in combination with the states, to provide a safety net for people who lose their jobs through reasons beyond their control.

Fishing License Tax -Dept. of Fish & Game - Unregulated use means there'd be no more Fish or Game left.

Food License Tax -Don;t know what thi is

Fuel permit tax -too vague to refute - there are such fees/taxes, but they have to do with regulation of commercial transportation or special fuels

Gasoline Tax (42 cents per gallon) -duh duh duh, roads, overpasses, bridges, etc.

Hunting License Tax -See Fishing license above

Inheritance Tax -been in place for over 90 years (since 1916) and it's purpose is to militate against the formation of a permanent wealthy class.

Interest expense -OK, this is a tax deduction

Inventory tax -No sure on this one, some states seem to charge a tax on certain items, the IRS does not charge an "inventory" tax, you are required to account for your inventory for the purposes of calculating the business income

IRS Interest Charges IRS Penalties (tax on top of tax) -Late fee for losers who don't pay their taxes

Liquor Tax -Same as cigarette above

Luxury Taxes -Why should you pay an additional tax because you bought something expensive? Because you can afford it.

Marriage License Tax- You need a marriage license to prove marriage (for legal reasons) so somehow the cost of documenting the marriage needs to be covered.

Medicare Tax -Levied with the belief that in America we should care about those who cannot afford medical care on their own.

Property Tax -Schools, parks, fire, emergency services, 911

Real Estate Tax -Huh? No such thing.

Service charge taxes -Again??? Huh? no such thing.

Social Security Tax -No comment. If you don't understand this one...

Road usage taxes -It's called a "Toll Road" you don't have to drive on it.

Sales Tax -libraries, municipal infrastructure, emergency services

Recreational Vehicle Tax- to mitigate the cost to the environment/citizens as a result of the action of people who buy RVs/

School Tax -Covered under property tax or depending on where you are in the country, a separate tax, but duh.

State Income Tax -To cover the unfunded mandates by the federal government - like "No Child Left Behind", and assorted other things like prisons, firefighters, etc.

State Unemployment Tax (SUTA) -See FUTA above.

Telephone federal excise tax, Telephone federal universal service fee tax, Telephone federal, state and local surcharge taxes, Telephone minimum usage surcharge tax, Telephone recurring and non-recurring charges tax, Telephone state and local tax, Telephone usage charge tax- These taxes fund 911, emergency response, and rural 911 in addition to funding regulation of the telecom industry (so that AT&T, or whoever, can't try bait and switch advertising, for example, or can't dig up your street and then not repave it).

Utility Taxes -Federal & state governements do regulate the utility industry (see, for example, Enron)

Vehicle License Registration Tax -See DMV above

Vehicle Sales Tax -See DMV above

Watercraft registration Tax -See RV above

Well Permit Tax -See Building Permit Tax above

Workers Compensation Tax- I supposed you wouldn't want to get any money if you were injured on your job. just CYA! thanks for coming out.

Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago- FALSE

and our nation was the most prosperous in the world. -That depends entirely on what metric one uses to measure "prosperity."

We had absolutely no national debt -False - ($ 2,337,161,839.04 in 1906)

had the largest middle class in the world - that depends entirely on how one measures "middle class."

and Mom stayed home to raise the kids. - Now she's helping to run the country.

californians are going to get taxed to hell with the new budget

"raise the sales tax by 1 cent on the dollar, nearly double the vehicle license fee that motorists pay annually, increase taxes on gasoline by 12 cents a gallon and impose a 2.5 percent surcharge on personal income taxes."

thats a lot of taxing.
