The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (1974)
I am surprised that no one mentioned this one until post #42. It set the stage for so many movies after it and was so low budget. Think about it, House of a 1000 Corpses is just T.C.S.M. and Natural Born Killers blended together. Night of the Living Dead was really low budget and started the whole zombie thing. Anyway, the first time I saw Texas C. S. Mas. it was really, really late and I was in my teens. I had no idea what it was, but I was so shocked and interested that I wanted to stay up and watch it. Well, I couldn't stay awake and towards the end when the girl is tied to the chair and starts to go crazy they were flashing eyeballs up close. I was so tired that I was fading into sleep, waking up and fading into sleep again during that part of the movie. It was sort of a bad experience and that was probably the scariest one for me.

Hard Candy (2005)
No one said this one, but a girl ties a 20 or 30 something up and chops his balls off. She then proceeds to grind his balls up in the garbage disposal. Well, that's pretty scary and twisted if you ask me.

and here's to the dude that mentioned 28 Days Later and 28 Weeks Later...holy shit! It is like zombies on drugs or something. They run so fast. You know they will probably be coming out with a third one too.

Hey serious addiction, I don't know how you feel about zombie movies, but I was very pleasantly surprised with, Diary of the Dead (2007). There is a scene where this girls little zombie brother surprises her and jumps on her back. I am not afraid to admit that I shit my pants as a result of that scene.

:WTF: that sure is twisted cause you know ur GF can do it at anytime while you sleep:smoking:

I didn't think the Ring was scary...just didn't get the hype over it.

Omen was another creepy one...but again I am just terrified of creepy little kids

Serious,

THANK YOU! I swear, somethings I thought that I was the only one on earth that didn't buy into the hype concerning The Ring. I just didn't get it as well.

1st Nightmare On Elm Street (Was something so new & different at the time)

Jaws (Still has me thinking to this day when I get in the water)

Exorcist (A different kind of eeriness since it's based on the supernatural & claims it could be real)

The Ring (1st One) Nothing creepier when that girl comes climbing out of that television.

And.....Many will laugh, but The Blair Witch Project
People criticize but I just don't think they get it or the idea, which was unique and set the standard for similar movies you see now shot that way.

What scares me are movies that are realistic and can actually happen...so stuff like Friday the 13th, Nightmare on Elm St, etc...I think those are more silly than anything else. I remember a buddy of mine and I went on a weekend road trip to an NFL game...the night before, he wanted to go see The Ring since there was an IMAX theater right next to our hotel. He was terrified while I couldn't wait for it to finish and checked my sports pager non-stop in the theater to monitor plays I had made. Here are some flicks which did scare the crap out of me:

Jaws: Christ. I still have reservations about going too far into the ocean, especially since shark attacks seem to occur pretty frequently out here. My parents had rented Jaws way back when Beta VCRs first came out in the early 80s. I was maybe 6 or 7 years old at the time. They wouldn't let me watch, but after they went to bed, I snuck back downstairs and turned it on. My mom heard the TV going and said she came downstairs and told me she'll never forget finding me literally frozen with fear and with a face that was completely white.

Ted Bundy: Even though he stalked women, watching that movie about his life really freaked me out. Anyone else on here see it? I only saw it a year or two ago...it probably bothered me because I have a fiancee who I care about, I may have a daughter with her some day, I have two sisters, etc...and there will always be sick fucks like Bundy in the world...

I totally agree, that's why the exorcist is probably the one that really beat the shit out of me and pobably had an effect over me that still remains quietly but that still remains
