Complimentary Horse Pick for August 9th, 2014
SARATOGA #7 at 04:30 PM Eastern
Top Pick: #7 (GRAN THE MAN) (3-1) - He was a very impressive wire-to-wire maiden winner going 6-furlongs at Belmont June 29th. Grey gelding by "Grand Slam" had finished second there when debuting three weeks earlier and believe he has a bright future. Three-year-old gets the slimmest of edges over #4 "Groupthink"
2nd Pick: #4 (Groupthink) (7-5) - The probable favorite, he raced evenly seven wide when finishing third here at this level going 6-furlongs July 19th. It was a solid effort and came off a 7 1/2 month layoff. He's since come back with a big bullet work on Aug. 1 at Belmont and is an obvious win candidate in what is a two-horse-race on paper.
3rd Pick: #5 (Native Hero) (10-1) - Stretch runner has finished second in three of his last five and four of those starts have come facing "open" company. Freshened up since early June, he's had a pair of back-to-back bullet works at Belmont in preparation for his return to action.
4th Pick: #3 (Thnktomyuncle) (20-1) - Even-paced type isn't a win threat, but he could grab a minor award at a big price if the pace is fast and/or contested.
