Race 3 - $25,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool
Race 8 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool
MEET STATS: 18 - 51 / $118.20 BEST BETS: 1 - 4 / $4.40
Best Bet: EL SHOOTER (4th)
Spot Play: WEGOTTATRUCKYEA (1st)
Race 1
(10) WEGOTTATRUCKYEA has to be one of the worst names for a horse, but seems to be moving in the right direction for new trainer Nancy Johansson and actually had some late pace in his last qualifier. I'll take a shot here and follow up next week if he takes it easy from post 10. (1) MAJOR ADONIS raced well off the bench with Lasix added; must use. (7) ALL THE COOKIES lured Gingras off a Ron Burke horse; obvious player.
Race 2
(7) PISTOPAKINPIPER comes in from the Midwest with decent form and perhaps new trainer Nick Surick can get him over the top in a somewhat lifeless field. (5) MULLET BLUE CHIP had some late pace a week ago. (4) WILD AGAIN wasn't bad in that qualifier. Maybe the time off helped.
Race 3
(5) INTHEBLINKOFANEYE was on a three race winning streak for Rene Allard and got claimed by this barn. There is no reason this veteran can't keep it going another week. (3) STORMIN RUSTLER was in tough in that qualifier. If he is ready off the bench he fits very nicely with this group. (7) UF FAST FEELIN has been racing well and could certainly win this race. (8) RUSTY SKIPP picks up Gingras; wouldn't be a shock if he won.
Race 4
(2) EL SHOOTER ships in from Hoosier and these imports have done well early in the meet. Trainer change to Ron Burke and having Gingras in the bike won't hurt a bit. (1) TWIN B SPY has probably been facing slightly tougher at times at Yonkers. (8) MUST BE THE BUNNY swept the field at this level a week ago.
Race 5
(7) FRESH DREAM has been finishing pretty well while stuck in dreaded outside posts at Pocono. The move to the big track should help and I wouldn't be shocked if we saw some early speed, too. (1) RESTLESS NATIVE is the obvious favorite dropping back in for a $10k tag. (8) GONE NUCLEAR raced well last time out despite missing a month of action. (9) DANGER HI JOLTAGE seems worth using on your tickets underneath.
Race 6
(6) JIMMY C R has been finishing well from outside posts of late and tonight might be the night that these connections get aggressive and go for the gusto. (9) ORILLIA JOE drops down and owns high early speed; dangerous. (3) EASTEND EDDIE raced better with Lasix added. (11) SUPREME MACH N looks like a decent Down Under import and might be worth adding to your pick four tickets.
Race 7
(2) PRINCE PALANI was taken off the gate and closed nicely last time. Hopefully we'll get a more aggressive steer this week as our top choice. (9) HILARIOUS HALO comes off a good effort and adds David Miller. (6) BEGINNER'S LUCK wasn't bad in his Meadowlands starts and could offer value on the driver change. (8) K SLATER has some allure with Yannick in the bike.
Race 8
(3) ASHLEY'S HUSBAND was very sharp in his most recent qualifier and has proven himself over this surface. I'll take a chance that he is ready to drop the time needed to win tonight. (6) MIGHTY PERUVIAN N raced well in this class two starts back and could offer some value. (10) SHOOTER'S DREAM drops down off a decent effort. If Miller can work out a trip he has a big shot. (8) HOPE FOR BADLANDS is too sharp to ignore.
Race 9
(6) DANCIN HILL obviously needed the start last week. This guy isn't a star but this field came up very soft. (1) SALEVSTER STALLION moves to the big track and could awaken. (9) FLY'N WITH ROYALTY drops down and has as good a shot as any. (8) PRANA wasn't awful last week.
Race 10
(3) OUR DRAGON KING had some traffic and finished with plenty left last time. He drops down tonight and should prove tough. (2) LONG LIVE ROCK comes in off a good race and should be close to the action. (4) CASTLE FLIGHT bested an easier group last time.
Race 11
(7) GRATIAS DEO comes down from Vernon in decent form and doesn't exactly face the sharpest group in town. (4) ALEX BULLVILLE was flat in the stretch last time. Perhaps with the weight of my selection off his back he'll come through. (3) WINDSONG GORGEOUS has a proven track record here. Is he ready off the bench?
Race 12
(3) ROCKIN WIZZARD put in another big mile though last time it was in defeat. I'm staying with him. (1) EMERITUS MAXIMUS needed that mile a week ago. He has some class. (4) ONTARIO SUCCESS is a hard-knocking horse who always battles. (8) MARTINI HANOVER beat many of these last Saturday.
Race 13
(2) GIANT SLAYER comes off a decent effort and moves into a barn that can wake them up in a hurry. (7) BRIONI is off a confidence building win and raced well here two starts back. (9) INSANE IN SPAIN wouldn't shock me in this spot but has to overcome the outside post.
