Gulfstream Park West - Race #11 - Post: 5:05pm - Maiden Claiming - 7.5 furlongs on the Turf. Purse: $14,000 Class Rating: 77

Rating:

#7 ALL THE NEWS (ML=4/1)

ALL THE NEWS - You always have to be on the patrol for profit making jock/conditioner tandems; we have one right here. This animal is for real on the turf. TrackMaster turf fig in last race at Gulfstream Park West was tops in this bunch. Gelding took a little vacation, but has been racing into shape. Horse didn't land in the top three in last race, but did beat half the field, and made up ground in the lane. A slight improvement and this horse should be right there at the end.

Vulnerable Contenders: #6 TRAFFIC EXPRESS (ML=3/1), #11 IT'Z MY VALENTINO (ML=7/2), #10 GUN STREET (ML=5/1),

TRAFFIC EXPRESS - Can't bet on this pony in today's sprint of 7 1/2 furlongs. Hasn't even finished in the money in a sprint race of late. IT'Z MY VALENTINO - You always believe this horse has a shot to be victorious, but he falters frequently. GUN STREET - This gelding finished out of the top three on Oct 21st and wasn't close in the last race either.

GUEST COMMENTARY: The Turf Man - ALL THE NEWS - This gelding fits nicely here against these ponies. His average class figure is tops in the field.

RACE #10 - AQUEDUCT - 4:20 PM EASTERN POST

The Cigar Mile Handicap

8.0 FURLONGS DIRT GRADE I THREE YEARS OLD AND UPWARD STAKES $500,000.00 PURSE

#7 CONNECT
#1 ANCHOR DOWN
#10 DIVINING ROD
#2 ECONOMIC MODEL

The Cigar Mile was run as the NYRA Mile prior to 1997. It was renamed that year in honor of the two-time Horse of the Year who won the 1994 edition. Cigar equaled Citation's modern-day North American record of 16 consecutive victories with his win in the Citation Challenge at Arlington International in 1996. Among his victories during that streak were the 1995 Woodward, the 1995 Jockey Club Gold Cub, the 1995 Breeders' Cup Classic, and the 1996 Woodward, all at Belmont Park; as well as the aforementioned 1994 NYRA Mile at Aqueduct. The NYRA Mile was created by former NYRA President Jerry McKeon. The one-mile distance was chosen to attract both sprinters and distance horses. Here in the 28th renewal of this Grade I event, #7 CONNECT, the pace profile leader in this field, has scored with a quartet of "POWER RUN WINS" in his last five starts. Jockey Javier Castellano has been in his irons on two previous occasions, winning 'em both, en route to a +580% profit, and is back today here at "The Big-A" for his 3rd ride, gunning for a "Hat Trick Win." #1 ANCHOR DOWN, the morning line favorite, is the overall speed leader, and comes off a "POWER RUN WIN" facing better company (+3) in his last start.

$1 EARLY PICK 4: 1,2,5 / 1,2,3 / 3,5 / 3,7 = $36

$1 LATE PICK 4: 3,7 / 2 / 2,4,6,7 / 1,5,6,7 = $32

MEET STATS: 19 - 85 / $120.00 BEST BETS: 4 - 8 / $11.90

SPOT PLAYS: 0 - 8 / $0.00

Best Bet: DAYLIGHT RUSH (8th)

Spot Play: DREAMY FELLA (1st)

Race 1

(6) DREAMY FELLA closed well Monday night despite having to chase leaders that enjoyed a slow first 1/2. He could get a much better setup for his late charge here. (1) TWOMACSONEMACH did most of the heavy lifting in the Autumn series final and he was still there at the wire. He appears to be the main danger. (7) SIR GALAHAD has been on a big roll out of town; he isn’t out of this. (3) P L JACKSON appears to have been bought by Cullen for himself after getting hung out to dry in the Autumn final. He’s another that could take this with the right trip.

Race 2

(4) TRACEUR HANOVER left like a rocket last time, intent on controlling the pace. He doesn’t need the lead to win and could take these in his current razor-sharp condition. (1) ANDREIOS KARDIA has never been better and is obviously the one to beat, but nothing lasts forever. (3) PRESCOTTS HOPE looked a little like his old self last week and he wouldn’t be a total shock in this spot considering how good he was here last winter. (6) EVENIN OF PLEASURE is always dangerous on or near the lead.

Race 3

(1) WALK TO FOLSOM was very impressive last week when taking a new life’s mark; catch him to greet the cashier. (5) MANOFMANYIMAGES couldn’t chase the choice down despite trotting a 28 1/5 kicker. If he is closer at the head of the lane this time, he could turn the tables. (10) A ROD HALL is in top form for Vanderkemp, but he will likely need to pass them all to win – which is virtually impossible at this track. (2) ZAGSTER should be able to make the ticket sitting a trip near the front here.

Race 4

(2) MISS COCO LUCK should be closer to the front here leaving from a better post, which gives her a decent chance to chase the leaders down late. (1) RIDE AWAY SHARK went a big trip in a quick mile but was overtaken late by two who had better trips. She rates highly here. (5) KISS ME OR NOT improved sharply with McNair in the bike and he sticks here; using. (7) SING LIKE AN ANGEL has a good record and she should be able to take a slice racing near the front.

Race 5

(3) PROVEN DESIRE adds Lasix after a couple of decent efforts a class higher. Expect a more aggressive steer this time. (2) REAL KID moves to the Wallace barn off a sharp win at Flamboro. He should fit here. (1) SUNNY BEACH DAY plunges to a class where he should be in the thick of things; using. (10) UF BETTORS HANOVER comes off a sharp mile but the post likely dooms him to a minor share this time.

Race 6

(5) SAFEKEEPING was a victim of a slow pace last time, but she still closed stoutly. She can turn the tables this time if she makes her move earlier. (3) MAJOR MUSCLE will be on the engine again and she’s the one the choice will need to overtake to get the win. (6) BATOUTAHILL adds Lasix after missing three weeks. She isn’t impossible in this spot, but the top two are preferred for Pick 4 tickets. (2) LMC MASS OAK is in good form and he should be able to sneak into the exotics off a good following trip.

Race 7

(7) WOGGY ROCKS woke up in a big way on the class drop last time and he took a new life’s mark in the process. With a repeat of that race, the jump in class won’t matter here. (3) MACH ON THE BEACH jogged first time in Moreau’s barn. He is the main threat. (6) VELOCITY DRIVEN is prone to getting some unlucky trips but he is an honest trier that can take a slice here. (8) ASAP HANOVER will likely be over bet on the class drop here but he can provide some value for the top two.

Race 8

(2) DAYLIGHT RUSH will be winging on the engine again here and unless he gets in some crazy duel, he will be tough to beat. (1) PERFECT VISTA was part of a wild pace duel last time and he paid the price late. Notice the choice came out of that race to win last week. (4) WEATHERLY can get a good trip and take a smaller share. (6) FLAHERTY was 2nd to the choice last week – although he was no match – and he can stick around for a piece here.

Race 9

(4) COOL ROCK looked like a winner last week but he was overtaken very late as the pace collapsed. He should get another honest pace to track here; slight nod. (6) DOMETHATAGAIN ships north in good form for a potent outfit; using. (2) COMPANY MAN has plenty of quick miles under his belt and he could rip one off here for Moreau off the claim; beware. (7) AMERICAN VIRGIN should take at least a smaller share on the class drop.

Race 10

(6) MACH PRIDE takes a big class drop shipping in here and picks up McNair, who is likely to roll him early; top call. (1) AVATARTIST is getting closer as he gets sharper with racing; using. (7) TRASHYTONGUETALKER went an incredible trip hung the mile last time at Hoosier and now he goes for the potent Weller barn in his first Woodbine start. He isn’t out of this despite missing some time. (5) DARCEE N was in a bad spot being first up as the pace accelerated last week. He could better this placing if the pace is slowing late. (4) SHOCK N ROCK is in good form and he should be closer early this time, which will result in him making the High-5 ticket.

Meadowlands: Saturday 11/26 Analysis
By Derick Giwner

DRF

Race 1 - $30,000 Guaranteed Pick Five Pool

Race 3 - $25,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

Race 7 - $50,000 Guaranteed Pick Four Pool

MEET STATS: 44 - 123 / $201.60 (-$44.40)

BEST BETS: 5 - 10 / $11.80 (-$8.20)

Best Bet: ROCK STAR (13th)

Spot Play: BLUE MUSE (2nd)

Race 1

(1) CARIBOU BEACH raced much better with Lasix added last time and really does face a blank field this week. (5) SANTANNA SAM put up some decent miles at Charlottetown and had no shot from post eight at Yonkers. (9) ST MATTYS DAY moves into a new barn; wakes up? (6) BORN OF FIRE lured Ginsburg off #5.

Race 2

(7) BLUE MUSE picks up David Miller this week and has proven a strong contender when he picks up a catch-driver. (3) LOU MAN ships in from Hoosier where he was racing in the top classes and moves into a hot barn. (2) ROCK OF CASHEL came up short again last time and this field isn't any easier. (4) FLYING ISA N is certainly sharp but not the best gaited horse in the world.

Race 3

This is a strange race seeing as #s 3,4,5 & 9 automatically get to race for more than twice as much against similar next week. (3) KEYSTONE CAMARO moves into a new barn and I'm basically sticking with horses that have shown some big track success in the last year. (1) WORKANDPLAYHARD doesn't win often but owns a win this year that is faster than most of these have ever gone. (6) SEA HARRIER has been closing OK at Vernon and seems like a fit here.

Race 4

I have to admit I'm not thrilled with the idea of wagering on any of these horses. (5) CHEROKEE RANGER wasn't going anywhere from post eight last time. Switch to the big track could help. (4) TWINCREEKS JACK has been racing well at Freehold for trainer Nick Surick. (10) EVERY INTENTION has some early speed and picks up Zeron. (1) NUBBLE LIGHT looks like a clear exotics player.

Race 5

(5) LAST DRAGON needed the start last time as expected. He should take this field a long way and perhaps into the winner's circle. (1) DRUNKEN TERROR loomed but couldn't sustain last time; another chance. (2) ONEDIN MACH N is a fairly steady performer that could step up given the right trip.

Race 6

(1) INSPIRATION VIEW moves into the Burke barn and often times that switch alone will perk a horse up. This looks like a decent spot. (5) JACKSRLUCKYTOO has a start under his belt now and should show more either tonight or next week. (4) STAY UP LATE reunites with Brett Miller. They hooked up for consecutive victories two and three starts back.

Race 7

(4) CARD SHOCK has a bit of back class to him and showed it last week. He's actually been sharp for a few weeks now and deserves the call, especially with the Hall of Fame Miller taking over the lines. (7) STIMULUS PLAN turned his form around in a hurry for new connections; dangerous again. (3) RETURN TO SENDER N saw his claiming price drop in half and rallied impressively to win last Saturday. Gelding is another threat in a competitive race. (9) BULLVILLE KYLE will need some pace help but could be closing nicely for a decent share.

Race 8

(5) CITY HALL has done plenty of good work here in the past and seems to have been the victim of circumstance in recent races at Pocono from outside posts. (3) TRUE BLUE HALL comes off a confidence building win at Freehold and is certainly capable of a big mile. (2) WESTERN DYNASTY joins the select club as a free-legged pacer. His qualifier was solid and he does have talent.

Race 9

(5) PARNU HANOVER qualified back sharply and certainly has the raw speed to go with this group if ready off the bench. (7) BETTING EXCHANGE drops down the condition ladder and has the early speed to take charge. (4) IAM BONASERA ships in sharp from Hoosier and has plenty of class. (2) HOBOKEN HANOVER won in 1:52 4/5 at Monticello when last seen. Can he drop the nine seconds needed off his qualifier to compete?

Race 10

(6) THE SPY can race well from on or off the pace. Four-year-old doesn't win often but seems to be in a good spot to compete; narrow call. (3) SAVAGE SEELSTER has been relatively sharp over the last few weeks. Despite an 0 for 16 record this year, he has a shot. (7) NESH CRUISER is clearly down in class. (8) FLIGHT DECK N missed a start due to sickness but is as good as any in here; mixed feelings.

Race 11

(6) ASHLEY'S HUSBAND isn't the lock he was last time, but the short field means he be in striking position and ready to blow by the field late. (2) MATRIX OF LUCK has been facing top competition at Hoosier for Burke; dangerous. (1) RICIMER A gets his first shot at the big track since coming over from Down Under. If he offers decent value, I'll play him.

Race 12

(4) ESPIRIT DE KAYJAY A has been racing well out of town and should only be helped by the addition of David Miller. (10) ITALIAN REBEL has big speed and like the top pick has been racing pretty well. (2) MR BIG LOAD moves into a new barn and sometimes any change is a good one; maybe.

Race 13

(3) ROCK STAR reunites with Zeron and drops down the class ladder. There seems to be plenty of outside speed to set up his late rally. (5) WILD SHOT HANOVER is clearly fast enough to win given a smooth trip. (7) Q ROCK is one of the outside speedster. If he isn't used too hard a victory isn't impossible. (2) SIR JAKE'S Z TAM stopped last time but his prior efforts were fine.
