I’m curious, does that make you angry?

I don't get angry over stupid stuff like this, although it does cause for concern as the future of America looks very bleak because there is a double standard with hypocrisy to the extreme......the children growing up will live as robots as they won't be able to think for themselves.

I laugh because you seem angry and if this stuff is so stupid, why are you so concerned about how it will affect children? Shouldn’t we be concerned with important stuff in that regard and not stupid stuff like this?

Spoken like a true liberal, deflect from this threads true story line & the double standard of hypocritical mainstream. media in America........liberalism is what's wrong with America & it will destroy it.......by the way, I'm an Independent Moderate........I don't agree with quite a few things on the right, but the left have lost their minds.

My guess is even though ABC and ESPN are connected, they are still being run by totally different management. I’m sure the people in charge of hiring for ESPN are not the same ones who cancelled Rosanne. This a huge company with many different organizational charts for each area of business. And I’m sure many different decisions are being made within each one. I agree it’s somewhat of a double standard, but in reality I’m sure both of these situations are actually being made by 2 separate companies within the major company.

Point taken. This is why I believe ABC needs an all encompassing policy on public comment and then they need to enforce it across the board no matter what.

Easier said than done.

Well, part of the problem is implementing a policy and then not enforcing the policy. ESPN implemented a social media policy then failed to enforce it in the Jemele Hill situation. You can't set expectations then not enforce them. If you don't enforce standards, you lose all credibility.

This, of course, is assuming ABC or ESPN is interested in enforcing the standards across the board which appearances show they are not.

Roseanne has always been a loud mouth. Never really cared for her show back in the 90's. Wont miss it.

I believe Barry Bonds should be in the HOF and MLB has committed one of the biggest double standards ever but who cares? I boycotted baseball years ago because of their double standard, and until Barry Bonds is put in the HOF(with other cheaters) I will continue to boycott it. Boycott ABC/ESPN if you feel their double standard is that bad. What else can you do to make a point.

I’m not aware of their policies but if what you say is true then you’re right they need to do something. But again, it’s their right to do what they want to do. In the end it will hurt them if they continue those ways.

You seriously stopped watching baseball because they wouldn't put roided guys in the HOF?

Feels like you probably stopped watching because it is slow and boring and then just attached that reasoning to it. Similar to how many say they stopped watching the NFL because of protesting, they already had 1 foot out the door because it takes 3 hours for 10 minutes of action and people have no idea what a catch is.

Otherwise that's a lot of love for Barry Bonds. I doubt he even cares that much that he isn't in.

I doubt I could name 5 players right now. I have not watched or been to a game in years! The only thing I know about baseball is the cubs won the series a couple years ago I think. But everyone heard that lol. I stopped watching because of their double standard, no other reason.

I'm not calling BS or anything but I've never heard anyone say they quit watching baseball because the roided guys didn't get their proper due and put into the HOF.

You really stopped watching a sport that you find entertaining and enjoyable to watch straight cold turkey because Barry Bonds and Roger Clemens got the shaft for HOF voting?

That's dedication.

What is even the double standard?

how about Gaylord Perry. Admitted cheater who wrote a book about it and got in the HOF. And if you’re not calling bullshit, why did you ask me the question again? Yes, I stopped watching. I started watching in 1962 and Willie Mays was my idol so I became a Giants fan and still was when I stopped watching.

Actually, my wife wasn’t very happy about it at first because when we first moved to Indiana we would go to St Louis and see the Cardinals every year. She loved going to St. Louis. But I got her interested in horse racing after I boycotted and she loves it. So we go to Keeneland twice a year and Indiana Grand a few times now instead of St Louis and she is happy. Who needs baseball.

Because it was 1 of the more surprising things I've read on here. That someone stopped watching baseball because the steroid era guys aren't getting their proper due to go into the HOF.

If that was a bridge too far for you and you said screw baseball after then it's fine. I think most people who read that probably had a similar reaction to me that it is a unique reason to say the least.

If they kick Gaylord Perry out of the HOF maybe you will comeback as the double standard will be no more.

Agree w/ your post #163 though.

This stuff just fodder to divide the masses. Sharpest thing anyone said in the thread was BFL saying he barely bothers following politics anymore.

What can I say, I was a very devoted Giants fan for over 40 years. Other than Mays, Bobby Bonds was always my favorite Giant player, so when Barry came to play for them I obviously became a big fan. The guy belongs in the HOF, as does Pete Rose and I’ll continue to boycott baseball until at least one of them gets in. Yes, I’m dedicated that way when I believe in something.

And Perry getting kicked out will never happen. But it is a nice thought.
