Good stuff Actuarian. Looking forward to more of your posts.

I was a Math Major in college so I enjoy playing with numbers. Sadly, my Statistics classes left me wanting.

Try futbol24.com. They have the match listed. Starts at 7:30 EDT. Who do you like in that match?

After leading 3-0, Dagenham gives up to goals to lead 3-2. This is why I don't like to bet more than a -1 handicap in league play where teams are closer in talent than say international matches.

Then another dagger hits and Dagenham goes up 4-2. What a rollercoaster!

Thanks Hooligans. But I couldn't just be satisfied with the one match, I had to go for 2 and cut into the profit.

Results:

Dagenham 4, St. Albans 2, net +6.26
Gravesend 1, Stafford 4, -5.00

Today: 2-1, +1.25
YTD: +51.07

I thought I told myself not to bet the favorites unless there was other news that would make them worth betting (like Dagenham). I had to bet Gravesend any way. I'll have to make another mental note not to bet a favorite just because the line worsens.

:smashf:

On another note, Morecambe wins 2-0 so perhaps other bettors saw something about these 2 teams that I didn't pick up.

Glad you cashed Tony.

Regarding line movement in the Morecambe match, I saw similar movement in the Assyriska/Atvidabergs match on Monday. That is, the line got worse for the visiting Assyriska. I didn't post on here because line movements like that haven't been hitting like they used to. Atvidabergs eventually won the match.

That's partly why I was hesitant to bet Morecambe today. Similar line movement as on Monday.

OK, I'm going to try to simplify my betting somewhat and to continue what has been successful for me for what is becoming several times now. The principle I will use for this tournament will be the same that worked Tuesday and that is to bet against teams that have injured players missing or to bet against teams that have players resting for upcoming contests. We have 2 such teams in the Euro 2008 Qualifiers.

UEFA Euro 2008 Qualification
Czech Republic +105 over Ireland Eurobet 8 units
Czech Republic/Ireland over 2.5 +135 bet365 5 units
Ireland is missing 14, count them 14, of their players! This includes their world-class goalkeeper Shay Given along with 3 of their 4 starting defenders.

The Irish were embarrassed 2-5 in Cyprus last weekend and the Czechs are the class of this Group along with Germany. They will want to get 3 points here with the victory and should have no problem getting it from this weakened Irish team. No doubt toward the end of this match the lads from the Isle of Eire will be saying "Czech please!"

Cyprus +520 over Wales NordicBet 2 units
Cyprus/Wales draw +275 NordicBet 2 units
Cyprus/Wales over 2.5 -114 Pinnacle 3 units
Wales is another team that has players missing. Their regular captain Ryan Giggs will be missing with a hamstring injury. The replacement is Craig Bellamy who is involved in assault charges being brought against him that were postponed just this week. Wales lost 1-5 last weekend. Cyprus usually plays better at home but the price for the Cyprus draw/win is just too high for me to pass up against a poorly performing, injured Wales team, especially considering that Cyprus beat the Irish 5-2 last weekend.

Both teams lack talent in defense but excel in offense so that is why I'm going with the over.

Mr.Quantum,

Italians will face a Georgia team that will try its hardest to beat the Italians.
Also, Italians never travel well to these locations, where, usually the pitch
is in poor conditions.

Expect Italian National side to field a 4-2-3-1 formation, with Luca Toni
as the only striker. This will spell a full defensive mode

The 3 unit play on the ITALY / GEORGIA under 2.5 goals.
(I don't usually bet against the Italians. My guess is that they will try to lull
Georgia in a defensive struggle....hoping to pounce on a defensive brake down.

Final score: 1-0 Italy (Goal scored around the middle of the second half)

PS: what do you think of Portugal at EVEN money to win? (I'm tempted to put in a play)

Excellent work MA. I think I might put a little on the under.

Check out szlem's thread for good info on Portugal. He's from Poland so he knows a bit about this match (he's on Portugal).

Italy's probable starting lineup on ESPN is

Gianluigi Buffon; Massimo Oddo, Fabio Cannavaro, Marco Materazzi, Gianluca Zambrotta; Simone Perrotta, Andrea Pirlo, Daniele De Rossi; Vincenzo Iaquinta, Luca Toni, Alessandro Del Piero.

Which is 4-3-3 or perhaps 4-3-2-1. While I said yesterday beware of the "must win". Italy's group makes this a "really should win to be in a good position" game. They played well against Ukraine the other day and easily could have had at least 1 more goal. I expect them to really go for a win in this game, but under is always a good play in Italian games.

What do you think about Georgia team total under 0.5 (effectively a shutout)? I believe Buffon is the best goalkeeper in the world right now.

While I think that bet should win, anything can happen in soccer. Italy will also lock down once they score. Agree w/ you about Buffon. I would say they shut out Georgia 7 of 10 times, so if you like those odds, go for it.

Essentially the Italians are fielding their best squad.
Yes, the shutout is in the picture. De Rossi will be pivotal.
(barring any bad refering...aka: a penalty against the italians)
I do not expect Georgia to get more than 6 shots on goals.

Thanks to the polish connection for the lean on portugal
