Milw down 11 gets rebound with about 15 seconds and they dribble out clock without attempting a shot??
CHI 10-38 ATS as Fave 8 or more
CHI 12-23 Home off SU+ATS Win
Sir Charles used to dribble the clock out a lot when the Sixers were down and out yet needing 1-2 points to beat the spread.
3 years ago Jrue Holiday destroyed a Sixer cover at MILW by chasing Brandon Jennings all the way across the floor after Jrue shot an airball down 7. Then after Jennings hit 2 FTs needing 1 to cover Jrue ran to the guy inbounding the ball, took it from him and dribbled out the last 10 seconds.
You don't rig a game like Indy-Mia though with a 2 point line. Besides it was a big revenge game for Miami, and Wade had to be heroic and lucky to get that win, heck just to get OT.
I don't think most NBA ATS rigs occur before the games, CLE at POR notwithstanding, a full and complete throwing by the Cavs the day after Xmas. Now Totals you can rig early just by controlling the pace of the 1Q. Plus they all know which side of the Total the bettors are on, easy info to obtain. Bettors getting killed lately on UNDERS with NYK,ATL,TOR,CHI.
Most common ways NBA is rigged do not involve refs at all.
1) Steff Curry listed as doubtful. Line, GSW -8.5, 206. Money coming in on CHAR
OOPS! Curry now probable. Line goes to 12, 212, but NOT ON MONEY BET. Books take game off and repost new line. Now money flows on GSW and OVER. And whaddaya know, after crushing all game GSW reels CHAR in for a 110-100 Final and Bookies 'Double Middle' the bettors!
2) One team is really good or hot, and the other a bottom feeder off a blowout loss. OKC (-14) 122, DEN 112. This is a wire-to-wire fix job easy to pull off.
3) The "in the area" fix. This is the most common NBA fix. If we assume the oddsmakers are good at what they do, and they are, a large number of NBA games will have Lines between 6-9 points. In many of these games with less than a minute to go the SU Winner will no longer be in question while the ATS Winner is still up in the air.
If heavy money is on the Dog and they want the Favorite it's miss and foul, miss and foul, usually long jumpers. When they get it above the number, stop shooting and stop fouling, Fave covers.
What if bettors on the Fave instead? Easy! Fave is comfortably ahead so they don't want to foul or stop the clock. So in this case dog drives for easy layups, or best 3 point shooter takes all shots and if he misses team in the lead blows just enough defensive rebounds to give Dog extra scoring opps. Then Dog fouls the worst FT shooters on the Fave, like a piece of shit like DeAndre Jordan. Make 0-2 or 1 of 2, but protect SU Win if it gets too close by getting pointguard fouled instead. Conclude by getting game below the ATS number in final .24 and then dribble it out.
If the game is "in the area" they can decide who gets the money!
