Well it looks like I extra vigged myself by locking in early. The Pats are down to -102. Carolina is down to -113. So that's 11.00 of juice that I paid in total for two games to make sure that the line didn't go to 3' or worse.

///

New England -3 -110 (@ Denver)
I'm a homer. You all knew I was going to pick the Pats. But I know exactly what they need to do to win this game - stop Denver's running game. (by the way, kudos to bt-phins for nailing this in another thread). The Pats lost middle linebacker, Mayo, to IR in the Divisional game. And three of their other starting ltnebackers got dinged up. We won't know if they are healthy 'till the game is underway. If they are, and if they stop the Denver running game, the Pats know how to beat Peyton Manning. Force him into passing situations and pressure him. He doesn't like to get hit and will put the ball up for grabs. As you guys know turnovers are deadly at this level. (In fact if Denver hadn't forced Toussant to fumble in the fourth quarter last week as Pittsburgh drove for the killing score, they very likely wouldn't be here today). So although Peyton's O line has improved dramatically since the beginning of the year, they can still be overrun if Denver is in 3rd and longs or if they are down 2 scores in the fourth quarter. Those are two situations that Denver MUST avoid if they are to beat the Pats today. As for the Pats, their receiving corps is now healthy. Both Edelman and Amendola were absent when the Pats lost to Denver (24-30) in Denver on Nov 29. Gronk went out late when the outcome was still in question. The Pats were 10-0 before Edelman went down. Then the Pats lost to Denver without those key receivers, starting them on a 2-4 slide to finish the season. Do you think the Pats want revenge? Do you think they'll get it? I do.

///

Carolina -3 -116 (vs Arizona)
I don't pretend to know Carolina or Arizona as intimately as I know the Patriots. But here's what I know for sure. Before the season began, many predicted Arizona to unseat Divisional rival Seattle and represent the NFC in the Big Game. Carolina, however was coming off an 8-9-1 season. Not many even picked them to win their Division, a Division shackled with the preseason label of "worst Division in football". So Carolina won and won and put together the best eason in football at 15-1; now 16-1. They are 12-5 ATS. Those numbers scream undervaluation. Along the way they played four Playoff teams winning SU and covering ATS all four of those games. More numbers that scream undervaluation. So if I haven't told you enough about how perception and reality fir these Panthers, here's a couple of numbers that seal the deal for me. A lot is written about whether or not the showboating Cam Newton is an elite QB. How about 22 passing TDs and 5 rushing TDs. 1 interception and 2 fumbles lost. That's 27 TDs and 3 turnovers since the second half of the season began. I dare anyone to show me a better second half record for a QB anywhere, anytime. Panthers lunch on Red Desert Birds.

Tough day. Laid 6.5 with Nc-Wilma and it went to -5.5 on post. And stopped reading Rx Service Plays yesterday on page 5 before learning the world's losers like Lenny Stevens, Mike Neri, and Kelso "in the casket" Sturgeon (literally, in the casket!) were on both of my sides. That would have got me to pass NFL before I made two idiotic plays.

Also pissed I broke the Golden Rule of Denver yesterday. I know why I did it. All the bulletin board material. The fact that Tony Corenthe fucked NE hard in the first meeting. However......

In Bronco Home games if you bet ON DEN when they are not giving 3 or more points and AGAINST DEN when they are laying 3 or more you're record last 108 DEN Home games is 74-34 ATS. OUCH!!!

I'm pissed at myself that I didn't jump on the -4 when it was available. I see some 5s popping up now so while I can still get:

Carolina -4' -110 (vs Denver)

I'll add tidbits to the thread as I have time but I am clear who I am supporting here with my money.

Yep. I had both of those games, Scott. What they are not showing is that the Celtic last possession shot clock violation was intentional. If the dopes just drive to the basket I likely go 3-0.

But I'm happy to go 2-1 'cause when I went to bed the Cs were up by 22 I think, late. And Detroit was into the Fourth if I remember correctly still in a back and forth game.

The luck, good and bad, evens out in the long run but some nights or stretches in can be tough to digest.

Jim DET actually DID drive to the basket. And they began the possession with .22 left, up 11 so definitely no need. Also Sixers Robert Covington was in front of the basket and deliberately ran out of Pope's way so he could lay it in. This league is infected worse than the Zika Virus!

3-3 last night due to BOS' 'generosity'. Now 170-160

OVER 193 mem-milw / 718 Maryld -5.5 / 765 Sclara +18.5 / 768 POrt -4 / 796 St Pete -3.5

While handicapping I also discovered....

Wizards (-7 or7.5 tonght) have won TWO of last 35 by more than 6 points and 4 of last 33 by more than 4 points.

IPFW has covered 12 in a row vs Two Gay Bobs (Oral Roberts).

Where do you get those charts, Scott? Is that NBA.com? They're pretty good capsule looks.
