WOW, can't believe so many are on the PSU bandwagon.

Why?

This IOWA defense is very, very good..........they have EVERYBODY back from last years exceptional defense except two very good interior lineman who have been replaced by a a revolving foursome of very decent and capable interior players............they lost a cornerback with an injury but he has been replaced by what many coaches are saying may end up being the best corener at Iowa in the past 20 years.........and Spivey, the other corner, had the samething said about him last year! The IOWA secondary is outstanding(S Tyler Sash has 4 picks in past two games) and so is their very experienced and talented linebacking crew led by Edds, Hunter, and Angerer. The seven players making up Iowas secondary and linebacking crew may be the best group of seven I've ever witnessed in my many, many years of watching Iowa football.

BUT...........................................

A huge concern, in my opinion, is this defense right now is showing the inability to consistantly be able to rush the pasher, as they do not have any overly great speed rushers and if they cannont rush the passer, EVEN THE BEST SECONDARY IN THE NATION can be picked apart by even an average QB(and PSU QB is obviously above average).

Again, will be back later today with my prediction on this game.

Well, ARIZONA is probably better than NORTHERN IOWA.......but it's very close.

NORTHERN IOWA is close to being better than at least half the teams in the FBS...................they are actually rated one notch below PSU in the Sagarin rankings..........I believe PSU is 32ND and UNI is 33rd.

Iowa is ranked 7th

No way N. Iowa is 33rd best team in Div. 1. Put them in even the overrated Big 10 and they wouldn't win 2 games.

:ohno:

C'mon!!!

By the way, the BIG TEN may be underrated actually.

Actually, you may be right, UNI may only be better than Indiana...............and no way UNI is in the top 40 when considering all FBS and FCS schools.

I can tell you right now N. Iowa would easily win more that 2 games in the Big 10. They would for sure beat Northwestern, Indiana, Illinois, Purdue, etc...

They would give a good game & sometimes beat Michigan, Ohio State, Michigan State, Penn State.

our favorite gambling degenerate (brent musburger) is on iowa. "no way penn st. should be favored by 9 or 10," he said. "it'll be much closer than that."

I agree. I know all about the FCS since I live in Youngstown and follow Youngstown St - N. I owa is a good FCS team but they would easily be the worst team in the Big Ten. They would have the ability to maybe pull a few upsets, but no way would they make a bowl game or sniff .500 in the conference.

Strongly disagree with this statement.........strongly.

Northern Iowa is 9-17 against I-A(FBS) teams since 1985......with the most loses coming to the hands of Iowa who is more times than not a first division team in the Big Ten since 1985.

Plus, this could be UNI's best team ever as evidenced by the play last season and thus far this season.

They were ONLY a 20 point dog on the ROAD to a team that was ranked 22nd in the country at the time(IOWA).

If Indiana came into the UNI dome, they would be lucky to escape losing by less then 13 points.

Northern Iowa dominated a team very comparable to Indiana a couple years ago(IOWA STATE) on the ROAD..........and as mentioned, this team probably is better than that one.

If UNI were indeed not better than any big ten team this year, the Big Ten would undoubtedly be the toughest conference top to bottom in the country.

Fishhead- I have a deep respect for UNI and love their program but there is no way week in and week out they could compete in big conferences. When they beat a terrible Iowa State team with a new coach, everyone just ripped on Iowa State. Now when they play an overrated Iowa team close and should have won the game, you Hawkeye fans say how great they are. If they would have played Iowa a week later, Iowa would have drilled them.

Having Iowa as their first game(and Iowas first game) was a huge advantage for the Panthers, agree......in more than one respect which I'm sure you know.

Definetly playing week in and week out would against an equal and in most cases a better team would certainly take its toll on a team like UNI..........have to agree with you.

But don't you agree that UNI is better probably than Indiana, Iowa State, and at the very least, half the MAC teams???

Sorry man but I have seen N. Iowa many times as I follow Youngstown St very closely and they are in the same conference. Like I said, UNI is capable of pulling some upsets but they just are not a Big Ten caliber team. They just don't get anywhere near the recruits that even Indiana and Northwestern get. And you have to remember that when UNI plays Iowa or Iowa St, it's the game of their lives for the UNI players as they were no doubt passed over by the D1A schools. Meanwhile Iowa and ISU aren't giving them any credit and are already looking ahead. UNI has a good FCS program but don't think they would ever finish in the top half of the Big Ten or any BCS conference. They are more on par with the Mac teams, not the Big Ten.

The rumor is the Fish loves Penn State as much as i do. Look for Fish to say "take Penn State in a blowout". I had a feeling we would both be on Penn State. I am going to wait for the line to drop to 9. I will be all over Penn State in a teaser. Penn State should blow them out but their will be NO UPSET here. I love Penn State in a teaser. I also don't like playing teasers but this looks too good to pass up. They will have the better quarteback and running back on the field. Clark will be the big difference. This quarterback will be on a mission here. He knows he lost the game last year against Iowa (9 point lead and driving for another score when he threw the pick). He won't let it happen again. Fish, I am so glad you are not betting with your heart in this game.
