Yeah, that's right they aren't in the best cap situation.

AP's market must've just been completely cold to go NO. Hope he likes pass blocking.

Pats signed Gillislee from Buffalo. Just being fresh legs I think he is an upgrade over Blount. 5.7 ypc over his last 150 carries is pretty nice, granted Buffalo has a top run blocking OL but not many guys that efficient on the ground.

Guess it was not a done deal as you have been saying all along. Was not Butler it seems as the trade was never agreed on with this information.

Saints tried to save their draft pick and get Butler. WHy would NE do that when if the Saints want him they can sign him and give up their pick.
WHy I never thought the deal would happen. Belichik does not let anyone get the best of him...

Chop was wrong but will not admit it.

No way BB was going to get the short end of the deal in a trade with the pill head Payton.

I think at the start of all this, Chop was dead on and had a good inside read on what was going on behind closed doors in NO. This is just my opinion but I think when Butler and his agent dragged their feet signing the tender, it sent a bad message to NO. It gave them a chance to take a step back and re-think the whole deal. Butler needed to sign the tender ASAP and if he did, I think he'd be in NO today. Every other deal for the most part in the NFL, gets done in a bang/bang fashion. I think Butler needs a new agent.

I think chops premise was right i just don't think the Pats were going to let butler go for a late draft pick.

The true brilliance of Belichick and the Pats is that he got a top 5 receiver for a 32nd round draft pick and actually paying less at the spot than what it would cost a #32pick.

obviously they were talking, but it's just as obvious nothing was a done deal

I think they have Cooks for 2 years, then he's going to have to take less than FMV to stay with the Patriots, so he's probably gone

I have a hunch Brady is going to announce his retirement soon, maybe this year, maybe he'll commit to two years, and that's why they're holding on to Jimmy G. They're promising to give him control in 2019 at the latest.

No offense to Butler but this is one of the most boneheaded moves I've ever seen from a player.

Hard to blame the agent.
At the end of the day his agent works for him and not the other way around .

The following statements are all 100% facts.

The Saints and Pats agreed to a trade.

The Saints offered Butler almost 50 million and 11.5 per year with 30 guaranteed.

He turned all that down for 3.9mil.

He has never had a big pay day in his life .

He is one injury away from throwing over 30 mill in the trash.

I have never seen a player in his situation ever do anything like that in my life.

Good luck to him.

And despite the fact that the saints drafted the #1 corner in the draft they are still leaving the door open for a trade.

This would require The Saints and Pats to start all over again on the compensation end of things but unless Butler shows any interest in leaving it's not even worth discussing .

Apparently he loves the Pats more then money .

It was not the Pats and Saints that held it up.

It was Butler and his agent .
Pats and saints agreed to the trade .

Butler wanted to stay for the 3.9

Its as simple as that .

What Butler probably don't realize is the pats womt jeep
him after this season.

They will use the FT in Jimmy G.

Like I have been saying for over 2 years Jimmy G not going anywhere .

He will be the Pats QB 10 years from now .
TB got 16 more games left at most in the regular season as starting QB

So you refuse to admit you were wrong? You said Butler was going to be a Saint this season. Lo and behold he is still playing for the premier franchise in the NFL instead of a shit team like the Saints. Butler has zero desire to play for a team that has no chance at getting a SB ring anytime soon. So he plays out this season in New England and gets a deal next offseason.

Just admit you are full of shit and we can put your nonsense to rest. Have fun watching the Saints struggle to make .500 this upcoming season.

The trade would have been made as soon as he agreed to the Saints contract .

Saints are not going to give up a 2nd round pick for a rental

And Butler didn't want to play for a 3rd world franchise.

Look forward to more of your stupid predictions come football season.

You should change your name to full of shit talk.

Dude, you were totally wrong. I don't give a fvck what your guy told you BB and the Pats were not trading Butler for the garbage the Saints were offering.
This is not on Butler it's on the Saints for trying to low ball BB to get Butler. Never had a done deal, they may have agreed to trade Butler but the Saints and Pats obviously never had a deal in place for compensation...If the Saints wanted him that badly sign him and give up your first round pick. Nope the Saints tried to play games with BB and try to steal Butler for nothing. WHy would BB trade him when he can have the 11th pick in the draft if the Saints really wanted him.

Don't be so obtuse, the facts show what happened. Saints tried to low ball BB and he was not going to fall for that. It makes no sense for BB to trade Butler for the garbage picks the Saints were offering when he can have him one more year at 3.9M Obviously Butler is fine with that, knowing he has another year to win another SB and then can hit the jackpot and pick any team he wants to pay for and get a big pay day. So he takes out a big insurance policy for this season in case he gets a career ending injury. He's covered...

This bull crap you were spouting about the Cooks deal was the first part was total garbage. Dude you were almost totally wrong, only thing you were right on was Butler being wanted by the Saints in a trade...

THis whole fiasco demonstrates why the Patriots and BB win all the time and the Saints are middle of the pack fodder....
