Youre spot on about how inconsistent Xavier Malisse is. I find him and Ollie Rochus to be very similar in that to me its a motivational thing, they get up for the matches against the bigger players and when theyre a dog, but struggle in matches that they should win easily.

Today I like ToJo and Srichy again. There was/is some late money for both of their opponents, but I think theyre both too classy on this surface and stage. Very good money for Ferrer against Ginepri. Ginepri must be injured as the money against him has been very strong two matches in a row. The Benneteau/Santoro match has swung back and forth with Santoro being the early fave, then becoming the dog and now the slight fave again. I have a leaning to Soderling over Safin, but I always like the dog against Marat as he can have a brainsnap at any time.

All in all a great card today with the betting very open and not too many clear upsets should any player win ( Davydenko match aside ). Good luck on a tricky and intriguing day.

Srichy retires. Another retirement. When will the ATP and WTA admit they have huge problems?

Well he was about to lose anyway, whether due to his injury
or as excuse for being defeated,so if you were on him a void bet
is good for you under these circumstances..LOL

I hope you are right about ToJo as i parlayed him with Grosjean.
Good day mate!

He didnt look overly injured to me. He was just making a lot of errors and losing key points. I hope he enjoys his offseason. A refund was a great result under the circumstances and is just more money to put on ToJo.

Good luck

syd- i'm going to defend Paradorn here. He's a class guy, I don't think he would ever fake injury, well respected by his peers. He's a winner of The S Edberg Sportsmanship Award. He has played a lot of tennis post US Open (7 weeks!! including Davis Cup)--it's ALWAYS tough to beat the same opponent you beat the previous week, given no huge discrepancy in talent, of course. The books had Paradorn -150ish lat week Vs Chela then this week, less than 7 days they post Paradorn at -300, lol--GOT TO BE KIDDING.

having said that, what Almagro did today was sickening. Down 4-6,4-5 and just broken and Tursy to serve for the match the a-hole retires. Just awful, got to control that temper Nicolas. -3.5 gl play (small, not posted) now void at 5d. SICKENING!!!!!!

From what I saw it looked like he had a headache or something like that. I didnt have the sound on, but there didnt seem to be anything wrong with him physically, unless it was muscle related. He has played a lot of tennis recently, and I wasnt accusing him directly of dogging it, as it would take a lot for a player top quit a Masters Series event. In saying that, it is the last tournament for most of the players for 2 months, so to pull out injured is questionable in my opinion.

its just becoming more and more frequent in both men and womens tennis, the only people who dont recoognise a problem are the chairman of the ATP and WTA. The WTA chairman was told about this problem, and players withdrawing from tournaments last year and said it was merely a coincidence and nothing more, and then finally last week he admitted that the tour had a major problem. It only took him a year to realise it. Both him and De Villers ( ATP chairman ) are ignornant of players feigning injury, not showing up to tournys, accepting appearance money and throwing matches.

Pardon my ignorance Hope, but I didnt notice that Almagro retired. I saw Tursy break and I just assumed he served out the match. That is absolutely disgraceful. One game away from a two month offseason and he doesnt even have the guts to stick it out. But it doesnt matter, the ATP wont do anything, they will just ignore it.

You cannot tell me that a lot of these players dont travel with gamblers. Its not a coincidence that the players retire from matches when they do. A lot of the retirements are either one game away from the first set being completed ( most bets refunded ), one game into the second set ( paid winner after one set at some books i.e Betfair ), or one game from the match completed i.e Almagro ( money returned at a lot of books i.e CRIS ). The players or the players posse know the payout rules everywhere and you cant tell me that the players have eben made awae of them. Almagro couldnt face 4 more serves? Please. Give me a break ( no pun intended )

syd, I NEVER said these players don't do that. It's a black eye on the sport. I was defending Paradorn, that's all--he has a pretty good reputation, i'm giving him the benefit of the doubt.

gl with Tojo bro. Will be interesting to see how he handles himself today following the good tourney at Russia.

want to correct something that I posted on the first page of this thread--I stated that there were 2 spots available at Shanghui, that's wrong, there are 3. Davy, Fed, Roddick,Ljubicic and Nadal are in. At 6th, 7th and 8 respectively are-Nalbandian (pulled out:pucking: ), J Blake , Robredo.

here are the various scenarios. Pressure, pressure, pressure--who will handle it the best?

Hope, I wasnt accusing you of saying that shifty business doesnt occur on the ATP and WTA, I know that you wouldnt be so naive. I was just talking out aloud. It seems that the only people who refuse to admit it, are the ones who have the most to lose by admitting it, i.e the both the ATP and WTA. All they are doing is making themselves look more ridiculous and ignorant by denying the problem.

I will go out on a limb and say that all of the players named will qualify for the Masters Cup as there will be injury withdrawals like there is every year. Basically if you finish in the top 12 nowadays youre a chance of getting to Shanghai

I sure 'hope' Blake makes it, he deserves it. I don't like Robredo, I can't believe he may make it.

Kimmy's back this week!!!!!!!! plays tomm

from her blog-

Hello everyone!

I am very excited about this week. It's been almost two months since my most recent tournament. I like getting back into tournament rhythm, and seeing how these things work again. I'm happy to be back, and feel lucky that I can restart here in Hasselt!

Missing the last few months was very hard. There have been a lot of ups and downs. The biggest down for me was missing the US Open. After not being able to go back and defend my title, it was hard to get my motivation back. If there was something I was really looking forward to this year it was defending the US Open, and playing in the Fed Cup final. But, these things happen, and you have to just solve your problems. You just recover and recharge your batteries.

I'm excited about qualifying for the Sony Ericsson Championships. I didn't think it was going to be possible because I missed so much time! It's a tournament that I take very seriously; after winning the Sony Ericsson Championships twice, it's important for me to go back. I have a lot of respect for that tournament. I think it will be very hard for me to compete with all of the top players straight away, but I will look at it as a challenge and do my best.

I live only 20 minutes away from Hasselt, so I go home every day to spend time with my fiancee, Brian, and his dad. I try to take care of them as well as possible, and plan the rest of my schedule with them in mind - training, massages, even going to the supermarket (so I can have my fridge full at all times!) I like having people over at my house. It's fun.

One thing I've been able to do over the last few months is spend a lot of time with Brian. He plays basketball, and I've been able to go to a few of his games, also some of his away games. I really enjoy it. It's a very nerve-wracking sport! But it's fun and I enjoy watching it. It's also a great atmosphere afterwards; you go out, have a few drinks, relax. This is not always possible in the tennis world!

Last night we had a good night. We went to dinner and my bulldog Neo was in the car, and he gets so excited when a window is opened. He goes crazy! He starts biting at the wind coming through, or trying to catch it - if you let him he'll probably break a window! He's crazy. There were about six of us in the car and everyone was laughing so hard they were all in tears. He was attacking the air. Bulldogs have lots of wrinkles on their cheeks and it looked so funny. Saliva was flying everywhere! So, I guess the next time I have a few hours free, that'll be my job - cleaning the car.

I am very much looking forward to writing the blog this week. I think it's a great initiative. On my Web site, I always try to let people know the latest news of what I'm doing. Sometimes, things get a lot more attention than I expect them to, though. Last week, I fell over my dog in my garden and hurt my tailbone. My great dane just completely slammed me over! Anyway, I thought it would be fun to have that on my site, because it was just funny, but it went all over the world! I have friends in Dubai, and they saw it in the paper there!

Again, I'm very excited to be back and I will talk to you all tomorrow!!

Kim

have a good day all, i'm atta here.

I give Soderling a chance today, he is playing great tennis. If he can get on top of him early then Safin's demons might kick in. He could easily tank it and finish his season up early and get back to all of those blondes he likes to hang out with.

Robredo was always going to be a good chance of making it after winning that Masters event that everyone pulled out of, where he beat Radek Stepanek. Every time he looks like taking the next step Robredo, he puts in a horror 3 or 4 weeks. He reminds me of the little girl with the curl, when he is good he is very good, and when he is bad he is terrible.

Good luck all

Safin is just too good here IMO.

Everyone is on ToJo. Might be a smart play to fade him.

There was some money for Spadea overnight. God knows why, but im only telling you what I saw. The only thing I can think of is that some are fading ToJo because he made the final last week and he might be a little flat, but it is a Masters series event, so im banking on him being pumped due to his recent good form, and not flat. Banking and a little hoping also.

Im all over ToJo as you know, however I refuse to bet on Marat's matches any more. I never catch the right Marat. If im on him then his evil twin who loves a brainsnap shows up, and if I bet against him the Safin that blew away sampras in the US Open final shows up after taking half a dozen years off.

I have no interest in that match, so I will cheer big Marat home for you

Nice parlay MC, glad you didn't fade the ToJo money. You pushed me off the fence with Safin. TY:103631605

things are a heatin' up at Paris, some great matches today include:
T Haas Vs M Safin
N Davydenko Vs M Ancic

:103631605

she's two-for-two Vs the line this week, back to the well........

K Clisjters (BEL) -6.5 games -123 Vs S Kloesel (GER)- understandably Kimmy is a little rusty given the two-month layoff, however she has covered this huge line in her first two matches and i'm goin' right back to her. As stated in another thread Vs this line Kim is a money machine, and is basically an automatic bet for me, typically, irrespective of the opponent or surface. Specifically, Vs PLAYERS OUTSIDE THE TOP 30 (Sandra is outside the top 100, incidentally) Kim Vs -6.5 games line:
'05 year-- 26-6 (81%)
'06 year-- 12-3 (80%)
these two met a yr ago at Miami with Kim winning 6-0,6-1. Should be tougher today with Sandra in form and Kimmy just having two matches under her belt since injury.

note- Kim has mentioned nothing in post-match interviews citing any healths issues

just won my second round, but I still have some mixed feelings like yesterday. There were a few games where the ball was going exactly where I wanted it to go and I was controlling my points, like how I usually play. But there are definitely games where I'm still not patient enough and am not making the right decisions. Sometimes I'd be a meter or two behind the baseline and would go for a big shot instead of a safer one. But the more I play, the more that will come back.
Even though yesterday was my first match in a while, I woke up this morning and felt good. I was maybe a little stiff here and there but mostly I was very ready to go. I really wanted to work on the physical side of things before I came back, so that I'd feel good and not get stiff again after tough matches. I don't have much time - only two more tournaments this year - so I wanted to be at a stage where I'd only be worried about my game on the court.
