Why is the line so high on Boise St.? It opens at -5.5 and gets bet upward? Hmm. I thought it would be closer to -3.0, also. Must be their 56-2 home record over the last 9 seasons. But, Oregon has to be the toughest non-conference opponent they've ever hosted. The Ducks are the only team standing in their way of an undefeated season. If it goes to -7.0, I may have to bite.
I believe most are looking at UO's offensive line and seeing just 20 starts returning this year, with only 4 of their top 10 OL. For the first game of the season, I think that is a big question mark for them. Will this impact Masoli and Blount's numbers?

I think it does.

Someone speak up when they see a moneyline on the Oregon/Boise game. At the rate things are going, the odds could be irresistible.

you got that right :toast:

I think once you've looked at BSU's dline you would have a different conclusion. They returns just one starter as well, they are an undersized group whose experience lies at the ends not up the middle and they just lost their biggest DT to a DUI suspension. That is what is so interesting to me. All we hear about is the losses on Oregon and nothing out there on what BSU lost. I am very objective on this game and quite frankly I have yet to see a convincing argument in favor of BSU blowing out Oregon.

Perhaps BSU's isolation in a small conference and tucked away in Boise, ID there isn't much info on them out there. You have to search it out. I have spent a lot of time on BSU blogs, newspaper sites etc, there are a lot of question marks on this very young team. And the answers to these questions won't be known until after game one. I look up and down this unit, I see no more than 3 or maybe 4 players on the BSU squad that would start over their counterpart at Oregon...

The Total is 60 1/2 at the Greek. Last year the game total was 69, and with both teams losing players from defenses that were lousy to begin with, there is no reason not to take the over here. The Number should have been 70. This may end up being a play for us.

The line at the Greek is still -6. -6 1/2 in Vegas, and -5 1/2 at Sportsbook.com. I do not look for too much more movement, though I would love to see this line go to 7.

Is it just me or do you guys picture Big Daddy HQ having multiple personality disorder when you read his posts? All this "we think, we did, our play", ect... Not sure if you've seen it but I keep picturing the guy in that 80's movie Ski Patrol who has a mask on both sides of his head when I read his posts and it's really distracting....

40 seconds in if you don't know what I'm talking about

Actually all of this "us" crap strikes me as a bit on the campy side.

You want to be a force here? Post mostly winners. It's as simple as that.
Everything else is heresay and bullshit and is of zero value.

Ya'll better be careful what you say. This "Us & We" stuff he's talkin' bout is the Las Vegas betting Cartel. The most brutal of all of the cartels. You just don't mess with these guys and survive on these boards. ^^:)

Dang, I guess I should start saying "we" and "us" on this board too!

Actually I need to correct the above statement to read :

Dang, we guess us should start saying "we" and "us" on this board....

Uowe, I gottcha on the Boise State DL and LB's and realize you know far more about "your team" than I could hope to know in 5 years about the Ducks and thank you for the insight.

Being I know the Trojans inside and out, Aaron Corp has a crack in his knee cap and will be sidelined for 2 weeks.

USC quarterback Aaron Corp received some bad news Wednesday when an MRI revealed that he has a small crack on the head of his left fibula USCRipsIt is reporting.
The injury will keep Corp out of practice for 1-2 weeks.
"This is an unfortunate setback for Aaron but we're encouraged by the diagnosis and that he's going to return quickly," Pete Carroll told RipsIt.
Corp added: "It's the best-case scenario for this situation. I’ll keep rehabbing and hopefully be back soon."
The injury comes as Corp, who was named the starting quarterback during spring practice, is receiving stiff competition from true freshman Matt Barkley.
In Corp’s absence, Barkley will receive all of the first-team reps during practice.
"Matt's going to try and make the most of this opportunity," Carroll said. Barkley’s quick start had tightened the gap between the two signal callers and this latest development shakes things up even more. USC opens the season against San Jose State on September 5th at 12:30 p.m.

Barkley has Unitas/Montana written all over him. He's one of those naturals that come along a few times in your life. You don't go and just challenge for the starting QB job at USC as an 18 year old freshman. He skipped a grade to get out of HS quicker just to get on the USC Trojans -- quicker... and he did it because he's good enough, that's why. His HS career was every bit as impressive setting state records in of all places, California where NFL QB's are practically groomed from the crib. May his kneecaps remain healthy.

Or may Corp average 97 ypg. rushing this year.

Talk about being "groomed from the crib", let's just hope Matt doesn't end up like Todd Marinovich, as they did attend and play for the same High School and now for the same University.

bigdaddy seems alright...just a little too confrontational especially when he was offering those challenges. like he needed to justify himself to the board or something. he did seem very sore at people that some didnt jump on "future" spread wagers. anyway i'm sorry ducks for hi-jacking your thread. as for me..."we" have to get back to handicapping(and we i mean in as...me,my magic 8ball and my supposedly psychic nutbag mother in law)

Jake, how about a psychic nutbag mother-in-law pick of the week just for the hell of it?

Personally I'd just like to see who's hot and who's not after we get through fall camp for a couple weeks. I've made just one bet on Oregon so far because I think Ducks is absolutely right. (I can already see Kellen Moore getting chased around and eating it when it comes crunch time.)

However, I'm still waiting to see what happens elsewhere before I commit any more money. (not necessarily your mother-in-law's selections unless she starts hitting) I'll make up my mind soon enough but not before I see how things shape up this fall. I don't think I'll start feeling a gut sense about very much before that. I trust it will kick in.

(Stanford keeps haunting me in the back of my mind. When I figure that out I'll make it known.)

Yes . . . .

<meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"><meta name="ProgId" content="OneNote.File"><meta name="Generator" content="Microsoft OneNote 12"> Atkinson confirmed suspended for Oregon game

His 320 pound frame will be missed in the Oregon game, which makes their DT rotation much lighter. He was interchangeable with Chase Baker in the two deep next to Billy Winn, their best DT. The expected starters are currently listed at 282 and 284 From what I've gleaned, most fans expected Atkinson to be penciled in as #1 by the end of fall camp with his blend of size and speed. Obviously, this is good for Oregon and bad for BSU. This is all per a Boise State beat writer listed here.

He goes on to note Kirby Moore's questionable status for the opener. He's the brother of Kellen Moore that was expected to compete for the third wide receiver position that appears to be up for "grabs." In one breath the fan base says they're stacked at wide receiver and in another they're saying a true freshman is their best prospect to be a starter. Needless to say, the losses of Jeremy Childs, Vinny Perretta, and Julian Hawkins (3 of their top 4 productive wide receivers) will be sorely missed. Austin Pettis is the lone wide receiver with any significant production. Lots of talk about Oregon's losses but BSU's are not being discussed at all in any analysis of the upcoming game.

Stanford -15 @ WSU: I am very close to committing at this number. For now I am going to let it settle a bit to see what happens in fall camp. However I do like this: UNDER 56, .5 unit This is a lot of points for two teams that should be looking to emphasize their respective rushing attacks. I see a 32-17 type game here.

16.5 now and if you are still going to bet Stanford get around to it soon as imo this one approaches -20 before kickoff.

Interesting angle you have regarding the total.

Aparently the public agrees with your analysis of Barkley, as the line has dropped 1 point since the announcement of Corp's injury. Normally, a 2 to 3 point swing is in order for losing a starting QB. The question to be answered is this. Is the #1 job still Corp's, or does he have to win it back now?

Knowing how Pete Carroll has coached at Sc for the past 8 years, he will let this situation play out and then figure it out when Aaron comes back.

The two things Aaron Corp has on Barkley is that he doesn't make mistakes (throwing picks) and he is ahead in knowing the playbook. The way I see it, if people (sportswriters) want to speculate on Barkley becoming the de facto starter over Corp for the sake of a story, that fine with me, but at the same, all it will be is speculation.

In fact, the speculation has alreadt begun with this story in today's L.A. Times.
