Universal is awesome. My kids are 2 and 5 months so will be a few years before they are ready for it.

Yeah you have a few years to go

No gambling on a Disney cruise but usually the casino's are shit anyway. Food was similar Disney one night we upgraded to an adult steak meal on the top of the ship, that meal was excellent. Comparing to Royal it was as fancy but different as it caters to kids much more. But as I said the entertainment (shows) was much better on Disney even for adults IMO. With kids you get to see characters more often and less crowded than at the actual park which was cool. My daughter rode the elevator with Cinderella one night to our room, that was worth the extra money right there.

I would still go without kids on a Disney cruise but then it's nowhere near worth the extra money. With kids I would say it is, but holy cow they rape you

One more thing, Disney has it's own private island where you stop and that was kind of cool. Like it's Disney owned, you eat on the beach, ocean has climbing stuff, etc.

Thanks for that info blue

Universal has a 3 days for $160 deal where you can visit Universal, Volcano Bay, and Islands Adventure by June 30.

Thinking of doing that as long as my younger son can do the rides

There is a height requirement on many of the rides.

Took my family on one. It's a really nice cruise. If you got kids it's well worth the money. They have a complete floor for kids. Went with another couple we travel with. The best is at dinner they will feed the kids first, then take them to the kids zone. You have a few hours of adult time at dinner and after drinks.

It's really a good trip. Their island is awesome btw

Going with a 4 night cruise out of port canaveral then 3 nights on the beach after cruise is over. Will be nice to relax for a few days on the beach after what will probably be a little chaotic on the ship. Stops at their Nassau and disney's private island.

$3500 for the cruise and that's with the upgraded room with balcony and all food/beverages other than alcohol.

Actually not bad IMO

And for those in the Credit Card thread, the cruise is 100% paid for with credit card reward points

It is damn overpriced but i have heard AWESOME stuff about disney cruises.

JC, your best move in a few years (wait til your youngest is in Pre-K at the earliest) and do a 7 nite cruise and take advantage of kids sail free promo (make sure the kids camps are good)

You'll pay less $$ and have more nites to sail

Thats a good deal.

I did Volcano Bay last labor day with my kids, you won't be disappointed!

My youngest is 8 and she did the big drop slide there, although she was crying when she got to the bottom.

Minimum height was 4 ft I think

We booked late. Got the end of the boat at the back. Cabin was nice, but crap location. Didnt care, was only to sleep. Had a blast, I am sure you will have the same. Its first class.

Did you get the ones on the very back with the huge balcony?

Disney cruise - expensive comparatively to Royal. Double for same cruise days. No gambling. Food better than RC, but not by a huge margin. Amenities are obviously very kid related, where RC is very adult related. I have been on 2 with the kids when they were smaller, and it was truly great. But once they hit a certain age, I think its overkill, and you get better value on RC.

We let our little ones roam the ship cause the kids rooms get boring for them. Disney has a phone system where your cabin phone works throughout the ship, so they can check in with you. Also Disney has cruise app which allows communication between people (I never buy the wi-fi on a cruise - defeats the purpose. Cruises are for unplugging.). RC has nothing like that and it was harder to communicate/keep track of people that dispersed in different directions.

Amelia is fantastic, the Ritz is the bomb. The Omni is good as well, but obviously a step down. But all rooms face ocean.
