8/5 from Feist:

MONDAY'S GAME 8/08/05 (Hall of Fame Game from Canton, Ohio)

Chicago Bears - QB Rotation: Rex Grossman, Chad Hutchinson, rookie Kyle Orton, Kurt Kittner.

As of Thursday, playing time for the Miami game still is being determined, but No. 3 QB Kyle Orton will get some work.

The Bears have a new offensive coordinator in Ron Turner, the former Illinois Head Coach. He is bringing in his version of the West Coast offense. His offense is geared toward receivers as opposed to backs and tight ends in the passing game.

QB Rex Grossman is learning his fifth new offensive scheme over the last five years counting college.

QB Chad Hutchinson has impressed in training camp. Coach Lovie Smith also praised rookie QB Kyle Orton, who has a strong arm and is starting to streamline his mechanics. Orton worked primarily out of the shotgun at Purdue, so the fourth-round pick has had to adjust to taking the snap from center. He still needs to get quicker in his drop and his release.

Secondary thin: CB Jerry Azumah (hip) was held out for the second consecutive day Monday in a precautionary move, and safety Cameron Worrell (hamstring) is ailing.

Miami Dolphins - QB Rotation: A.J. Feeley, Gus Frerotte, Sage Rosenfels (exact playing time still to be determined).

Miami has a new head coach in Nick Saban, who will be coaching his first game for the Fins.

Saban left open the question of who is the No. 1 quarterback for now by listing A.J. Feeley/Gus Frerotte as the starter. Practices haven't shed any real light on who might be winning the competition. Feeley and Frerotte generally alternate between working with the first-and second-team offenses.

RB depth chart: Ricky Williams was listed as the fourth-string running back behind Lamar Gordon, Sammy Morris and Travis Minor. Rookie Ronnie Brown was not on the depth chart, so it's apparent the position is in flux. RB back Ronnie Brown will not play this game.

Offensive line thin: The Dolphins, in search of help along their battered offensive line, signed free agent Frank Middleton. Backup center Wade Smith fractured his forearm Monday and is out. Joining Smith on the list of injured Dolphins centers was third-stringer Jason Thomas (arthroscopic knee surgery). With both players out, the Dolphins signed center Alonzo Ephraim. Saban also said right guard Rex Hadnot would get plenty of reps at center. Backup guard John St. Clair also has practiced at center.

Scott O'Brien will run Miami's offense, after serving as Vikings' offensive coordinator. Defensively, Miami changed from a 4-3 to a 3-4.

Sitting pretty if you got Bears +1 or pick. Lot of question marks here unlike Dungy. Agree with Hoffa, both going nowhere, two losers. That being said, Saban is even more of an unknown as far as preseason. Let me get a good 8-10 hours black bass fishing as my time to fish is running out. Should be back a good hours or so before game. Not sold on Bears as of yet.

I am buying off this shit game. Hall of shame is more like it. Too many unknowns, especially Saban with no track record in the NFL X. They have been losers, and would want to win if possible, no gameplan, I am a bit skeptical of how no gameplan the fish will be. Seem to have upgraded QB with Frerotte, as long as he does not celebrate my ramming head into walls. Bears weak favorite even in preseason. Crappy QB and crappy rotation, not exactly deep squad. Going with a scalp, Fish money line, +1.45 or better, to work back across Bears. Also shooting middle, Fish +3, to Bears +1. There will be better opportunities than this. No play, just middle and scalp. Keep it conservative and cash value if bought Bears early to build bankroll.

Best wishes...OF:howdy:

Of course Bears 1,2 or 3 would be nice.

Bought a 4 team 13 teaser prior to the Atl/Indy Saturday, side and total for that one already hit. I'll ride out this one with Miami +12 and over 20 1/2. Game looks like a dud.

Bears by 3. Rail. That was nice. Pretty decent profits first two games, and that was risk free. Those 3's are deadly.

The game was not a dud, an almost entertaining second half. On to Thursday, no movement off San Diego -1 1/2?

8/8 from Feist:

THURSDAY'S GAME 8/11/05

San Diego Chargers - QB Rotation: Drew Brees (1st Q), Philip Rivers (2nd Q+), Cleo Lemon (mop up).

Brees will start and Rivers will be playing, at the latest, by the second quarter.

Green Bay Packers - QB Rotation: Brett Favre, Craig Nall, J.T. O'Sullivan, rookie Aaron Rodgers.

The Packers have been giving rookie QB Aaron Rodgers a lot of snaps in practice. They have him second behind Favre when it comes to receiving practice snaps. Favre practices once a day and receives 50% of the snaps, with Rodgers receiving 25%. In the afternoon session, Rodgers, Nall and O'Sullivan split the snaps evenly.

Nose tackle Grady Jackson remains on the physically unable to perform list.

Secondary thin. The Packers are down to five healthy cornerbacks, and unless they get projected starters Al Harris (thigh) and Joey Thomas (calf) back soon, they're going to be perilously thin at the position.

Jim Bates is the Packers new Defensive Coordinator, their third new one in three years. The defense is running more coverages than the basic two-deep scheme of a year ago.

LaDainian might get 1 carry, no, he only has 13 in 4 preseasons. For him to play is pointless, he will be there taking his annual beating regular season, no use getting beat up early. Accumulation takes it's toll. Brees to get 1Q, Rivers next 2. Scrubs in 4Q. Although listed 4th, look for Cal kid to get a lot of playing time. Not sure how he looked lately, heard he was ok first scrimmage, ugly the next. Need to find out more camp and scimmage info for both teams, but a couple of days plenty of time. Also, beware of unders. These are not your eat up the clock at the end games. 3rd and 4th stringers on defense leads to a lot of blown coverages. Also seeing many long drives, a lot of passing. Factor that with very low numbers and you have a spot where the squarish overs actually offer some value. Not much working on running game either. These backup QBs are airing it out. Personally, I leave the totals alone, they barely get bet and do not offer that movement for scalp and middle opportunity. As you can see from Bear game, opportunity knocks, why bump your head against a total? Look for 3 on San Diego, as that is a ceiling, again, look at Bears. From +1 1/2 to -3. Thinking Chargers go from +2 1/2 to -3. Lastly, remember how strong the 3 is in NFL. The Bears, again. Check back before Thursday.

Adding Fish +3 1/2 off a decent performance on MNF. One game under belt, coulda, shoulda won. Saban played down aspirations before first game, but I was on to his BS. Good QB rotation, battle of FLA. One game vs. none, one large advantage, and I like what I see in Fish. Get that hook as plus 3 just not even close. Good spot for Saban to win some fans in FLA. Jax, question marks abound. See a lot of backups quick from Del Rio, as he will not risk frontliners long first game. Days away, but as you can see it is better to buy ahead. Also getting Buff +4 1/2.

Lookout for snap back on Cincy, went from +2, also we got +1, to -3, then all of the Pats +3 getting hit. If you want to middle, now is the time to look for those slow 3's.

Feist 8/9:

THURSDAY'S GAME 8/11/05

San Diego Chargers - QB Rotation: Drew Brees (1st Q), Philip Rivers (2-3 Qs), Cleo Lemon, Craig Ochs (mop up).

Marty Schottenheimer said Drew Brees probably will play the first quarter of Thursday's game, with Philip Rivers getting the next two. Cleo Lemon and possibly Craig Ochs will play the fourth quarter.

It's "not likely" RB Ladainian Tomlinson will play, Schottenheimer said. No surprise there – the All-Pro running back has only 13 carries in exhibition games during his four-year NFL career.

Jim Bates is the Packers new Defensive Coordinator, their third new one in three years. The defense is running more coverages than the basic two-deep scheme of a year ago.

San Diego Union 8/10:

Injuries report
Schottenheimer is vague even when it doesn't matter.
But what is the likely reality regarding three defensive players of interest is that linebackers Donnie Edwards and Shawne Merriman will not play in tomorrow's exhibition-season opener at Green Bay, and defensive end Luis Castillo will play.

Edwards, a veteran who would have played just a quarter anyway, is out with an ankle sprain. After saying he was not sure whether Edwards would be fit for the game, Schottenheimer said: "We're not going to take any chances."

Merriman, the team's first pick in the draft, is "not likely" because of a tender hamstring. The injury is not severe, but Merriman said, "They'd just rather not push it."

Castillo, like the other two, did not practice yesterday, but he is expected to play. He has missed two of the past three practices with a sore ankle.

Green Bay Press 8/10:

Pads practice canceled: Tuesday morning’s practice was in shorts instead of in full pads because coach Mike Sherman was concerned about the growing number of injuries.

General Manager Ted Thompson said the recent rash of injures was “more than I’ve ever been associated with. Fortunately, most of them are not that severe and we expect most of those fellas back in time. But in terms of missed practices, it’s more than I’ve ever been associated with.”

Injury report

New injuries: Linebacker Ray Thompson was held out due to a sore knee.

Returned to practice: For the first time in camp, center Mike Flanagan (knee) and left tackle Chad Clifton (knee) took part in both practices on the same day. They previously had been limited to one practice a day. Walker (hamstring) returned after missing two days.

Still out: Tackle Brad Bedell (hamstring), linebacker Kurt Campbell (calf), linebacker Na’il Diggs (knee), defensive tackle Cletidus Hunt (knee/shoulder), receiver Terrence Murphy (hip flexor), cornerback Joey Thomas (calf), defensive end R-Kal Truluck (hamstring), cornerback Chris Johnson (shin) and defensive tackle Grady Jackson (knee) all have been ruled out for Thursday’s game against San Diego. Defensive tackle Kenny Peterson (elbow) has not yet been ruled out.

Chargers linebacker Donnie Edwards (ankle) is questionable for Thursday’s game. Running back LaDainian Tomlinson might not play but does not have an injury.

SS,
Hope alls well in the household. Frog has been down this Frog and Toad (road )before and the thread ended in a two and Eight ( state ) because posters couldnt Adam and Eve( believe ) his comments, they thought he was having a Giraffe (laugh) Frogs point then was, a couple of Monkey ( £500) bets were knocking the odds faster than a cherry-hog ( Dog) with a mustard stuck up its bottle ( bottle and glass = arse)

Cut a long story, Frog went into hibernation, I along with others , missed his posts and I am glad to see him posting. Frog is one of the posters on here that I am willing to accept without question, regardless of some of the gibberish. When it comes serious time, We need to have him around, because he does get sensible. So just let him waffle, it is that time of year for our Amphibious friends.

Holding San Diego + 2 1/2
Cincy +1.
Buff +5 1/2.

This one dropped fast San Diego + 2 1/2, now pk. Like I stated earlier, you will see more line movement in preseason than rest of regular season combined.

Another game making the 2 to pk move is Cincy. Not sure why, no news yet.

The Buff game was only 1 (+5 1/2.) which I got. But I did post taking +4 1/2, no huge loss missing 5, and that also rocketed down.

I try to just throw it out there, you even got a better number than I on Bears, after I posted. But after I hit limit, preseason very low, and anyone who reads the thread first, I would imagine all those numbers are gone in volatile preseason. Sometimes I am in front of the move, other times I trail it. But I am on the side moving, my way everytime. No potential Eastern European middles yet. They can always snap back like Cincy. Also, I posted Cincy +1, I actually have some +2 also. And I have some Pats +3. So +2 to +3. That is what I do. Why I sit in front of the screen and why I bet preseason. I wish the numbers were widely available, but they are not, are of low limits, and evaporate faster than water on the moon. My advice to you SS is make the best of what I give you.

One other thing, I will have numbers I do not even talk about. For example, I have Bears +5, and Bears money line +1.70. I did not post ti because I trailed the steam, and it was a hard move. By the time I was done working it, there was just a bunch of 3's, so most the value was gone, why post that. My intent of this thread is to share. Share ideas, bets, early positions. So far, we have had some early success. There are people who get stale numbers, slow movers, like yourself, or slow onshore movers in Vegas. I will be back with San Diego plan tonight, at least one hour before it goes off.

Best Wishes...OF:howdy:

Sometimes I buy a side I like, the Indy game, others I buy for movement, and think it is weak, the Bears game. I made money on both. You can either sit and watch preseason go by, or earn from it.

OK, QB rotation tightened up.

Pack, Favre 1 series, Rodgers until 3rd Q ends, JT O'Sullivan mops up.

S.D., Brees 1Q, Rivers 2Q and 3Q, Lemon 4Q, with Ochs a possible garbage time series.

Weather warning, T-storms in are 60-70% chance. I had a loser over bet saved once, as lightning was striking close to game, and they ended it in late 3rd quarter, all totals were cancelled. Wind is slow, 10 mph, but chance of T-showers increases during game.

Best Wishes...OF:howdy:
