I was speaking to your retort. I thought the gist of the argument was the definition of mandatory.

Car insurance isn’t, health insurance is.

It would be lunacy to make auto insurance mandatory for non-drivers because there is no reason they will ever need it. With regards to to healthcare there are no "non-drivers". Humans, at some point in their lives, will need healthcare. This isn't rocket science.

Since this is a complete Non Sequitur, apparently it is 'rocket science'

Saying "you will need health care" is not responsive at all to the criticisms of a federal health insurance mandate.

It is frankly, meaningless.

Having health insurance by no means ensures you will actually see a doctor.

So continuing to suggest that you will "need healthcare" doesn't advance the discussion at all.

I'm not really sure how we got to this point. I am, by no means, arguing that health care and auto insurance are comparable, or that auto insurance should be used as a reason to make health insurance mandatory. I was arguing that JDeuce original assertion that by the logic of an ACA mandate, auto insurance should be made mandatory for non-drivers in order to lower auto insurance costs, was wrong.

New Hampshire is the only state without compulsory auto insurance .

Let me clear up my point. If I don’t own a car I don’t have to buy car insurance. That is what I meant by not mandatory.

If I’m a women who’s had a hysterectomy I still have to pay for birth control. If I’m a 80 year old man I still have to pay for Maternity coverage. That is I meant by mandatory.

You could make the same argument for almost any product or service. Diapers, food, housing, transportation, caskets - cradle to grave, baby!

New Hampshire is the only state without compulsory auto insurance .

and that's made possible by our constitution my friend

it's called "state's rights"

I have no problem if a state decides to make medical insurance mandatory, and people can choose to move. They actually do have legit options at that level

I have massive problems with growing the federal bureaucracy, and eliminating all options
and if a state doesn't like their government, they can actually change it. Residents of smaller states can't change shit on the federal level, whatever NYC, Chicago, Phil and LA want impacts the rest of our lives. That's not how it was designed.

The states created the federal government, not the other way around.

They don't teach proper civics in 'progressive' school.

Maybe in Nevada but not in Minnesota,

You truly, actually, believe that since you live in a "good" little liberal enclave, the rest of the country are a bunch of dumb hicks.

Want to guess where Minnesota public schools ranked in the latest US News rankings?

33 [Minnesota, however, did not fare well compared to other states in terms of the number of stellar high schools]

Out of 50.

Since these rankings came out 2 days ago, as always, you leftists have a great habit of making your self-refuting posts in a timely manner.

The Obama administration will allow patients in a federal high-risk pool slated to end next week to select an Obamacare exchange plan at HealthCare.gov through June 30.

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services insisted in a late Thursday announcement that they were not extending the Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan (PCIP) for what would be the fourth time. The $5 billion temporary program for those suffering from pre-existing conditions was slated to end Dec. 31, 2013, but has been repeatedly extended.

Firstly I do not think the rest of the country is a bunch of hicks. I know better, I do think a lot of younger folks from here do believe that but that is only because of inexperience and what they see on TV. Your US New Poll is misleading to the topic at hand. Yes US News had a criteria for what 50 states had the best high schools that prepared kids for college and Minny did rank 33. Now if you look at most polls and educational standards as a whole, Minnesota is consistently a top 10 state, and in comparison to the poster's state of Nevada it's not even close. Minnesota not the best but are top 10.

Obamacare Exchange 'Cover Oregon' Collapses in Failure

Breitbart News and others have chronicled the "Unmatched failure" that Cover Oregon has now officially become. As was pointed out on March 20 of this year, "The Oregon Obamacare exchange has received $305 million in taxpayer-funded federal grants, spent $160 million on its busted website, dropped $10 million on hipster promotional ads, erroneously enrolled 4,000 illegal immigrants in full Oregon Health Plan coverage contrary to federal law, and has not enrolled a single Oregonian online."

Oregon was even given "a $48 million "early innovator" grant for states whose exchanges were intended to serve as models for the nation." While the money was spent, clearly, that promised was never fulfilled.

Can you please post a link? I was trying to research this. From what I have read, Oregon used a bunch of money to make their own exchange website, failed miserably and decided to wave the white flag and not put anymore into it. Now they are going to switch to the Federal exchange rate program. Is this a state screw up or am I reading this wrong?
