The gov't doesn't need to ban any type of weapon. What they will do and are doing is limiting the amount of ammunition out there on the open market.

Guns are pretty much useless with ammo.

I think it was Chris Rock who said make Bullets cost Couple thousand dollars..that way if you were gonna shoot somebody it better be worth it.

I would rather have Organized Crime in charge of the country than the current administration. They have considerably more integrity.

Some of you rat wangers were ready to make a preemptive nuclear strike on Iran because they were trying to develop nuclear weapons to protect themselves from our govt. Now you want your right to own any weapon made for the same reason?

Actually, Obama appears to be somewhat anti-Czar

He's the first President since Reagan to have dropped the so-called "Drug Czar" from cabinet level status.

I think fully automatic weapons are currently illegal unless one has a special permit and pays a yearly fee.

The term "assault weapon" is a emotional term, and no one has posted the features that make a weapon an "assault" weapon. If the thread is an emotional discussion, then reason and facts do not apply.

You should be allowed to protect yourself from the government and have the right to bear arms as the 2nd Amendment allows.

Bingo.

Also, do you anti-gun folks sincerely believe outlawing firearms will keep them out of the hands of criminals? No, just the like the war on drugs, it will create a black market and anyone who wanted obtain an assault weapon could very easily do so.

After just hearing on the 10 PM news from the Bay Area that 3 cops were killed today by some nut job with an assault weapon, all bets against another AWB are off the board.

....And that nutjob would still have an assault weapon if they were illegal. It will just create a black market for assault weapons, look at the war on drugs. In 1972 when Richard Nixon started the war on drugs the federal budget allocation was $100 million. In 2000 the federal budget allocation was $20 billion. Yet, in 2000 their were more drugs in the country and less expensive than in 1972.

If you ban assault weapons, they will most likely become more readily available. Again, disarming innocent people DOESN'T protect innocent people.

Also, as we all know the government just needs somewhere to start...it's called incrementalism...they will slowly try to take all of our guns! Before you know it...know one will be able to own any gun!

Yeah sure. That's a real winning strategy.

If "They" slowly take away say, five thousand guns a day (how they get them, no one knows but the Kooks), they would have the whole country disarmed in 125 years.

That's presuming not one single new gun made its way into private hands during those 125 years.

I am sorry....I meant to say "take away our right to own guns"....slowly errode or infringe on our rights, as the government already has....

did you read my post just before that one where I said....."Before you know it...know one will be able to own any gun!"

I would think you would know what I meant???:think2:

The implication of "no one would be allowed to own a gun" is that there would be a force that could remove all gun ownership.

Of course no such force exists, so anyone who wants to own (possess) a gun in the USA will always be able to do so
