I count 16 4-stars on the roster.... not counting the seniors on the way out or the 2015 class...using your same website.

You're correct, I screwed that up.

The figures are for Nebraska high schools, they are not turning out top talent, not the Nebraska football roster.

Mike Riley is a good coach. People are lunatics. Oregon st has done nothing without him as the coach. I know the have struggled recently but it is what it is. He will be a success at Nebraska

Dennis Erickson had a winning record 3 of the 4 years he was there, prior to him the Beavers had gone almost 30 years with out a winning record. Erickson is largely credited in Oregon with getting this program back on track.

i think he did a good job at oregon state. as mentioned very hard place to get players. only comparison in pac-12 is WSU.

nebraska is a funny one. years ago i think they ran a national (or at least super-regional) recruiting program before almost any other schools. maybe it ties into their very innovative and extensive strength training program which everyone has now.

i think nebraska is far above oregon state in terms of potential but still lots of challenges.
At their peak, Nebraska was successful because they had a ton of props and a shitload of walkons.

Didn't Erickson win the bulk of his games at Oregon State with Riley's recruits? I believe even Erickson acknowledged the magical 2000 season was basically driven by all of Riley's recruits. Erickson's recruits produced a 13-11 record compared to Riley's 18-6 during Erickson's stint in Corvallis. Obviously, I'm sure Erickson's coaching ability had something to do with the success even if he didn't get the players there.

pretty much the case from what I remember...Season was capped with the demolishing of the Irish in Fiesta Bowl.. Oregon St was the best team in the country at years end

Some were Riley's and some were Erickson's, Chad Johnson & T. J. Houshmandzadeh were both recruited by Erickson.

True. Only Miami would have been a challenge, ironically with Erickson having coached both teams. Irish had about 70 yards in 50 minutes until 3rd stringers came in. That OSU team had some nice NFL parts to it.

Paul Rhoads never wins more than 5 or 6 games at Iowa State, but I would take him in a minute over 50% of the name coaches in the country.
one day, somehow, he will be the Pitt head coach and one of the few guys they could afford who would actually turn their program into a quality 8+ win/yr group. i'd be happy to swap Chryst for Rhoads today

Btw was Pellini's departure all wins/losses/not getting over hump? Or personality issues too?
must have something to do with it. half of the articles written about this hire highlight how Riley's personality is the exact opposite of Pellini.

I've never been a fan of Chryst. I've made some nice money fading him this season. I wonder where Pelini is going to end up? I heard there is a janitorial position open at UAB...

anymore beats like last night and I'll be applying
I feel ya. It happened to me too. The same thing happened to me a couple weeks ago when Texas Tech threw a hail mary on OU. I literally dropped my beer when that happened.

Sometimes I think that Nebraska fans are in denial and try to block out the entire Calahan era. They regretted firing Solich, will history repeat itself?

I have a hard time believing that Riley will do a better job then Pelini..Really surprised he would take this job considering this stage of his career & his ties to the state.. Maybe he knew he was being pushed out.

The best pick for Nebraska would be former Nebraska QB, now OC for Oregon, Scott Frost. I wonder if they approached him and he turned them down.

well, yeah....he turned down bama 12 years ago :) - he wasnt even at OSU yet

but was because he wanted to explore the UCLA job at the same time and bama gave him a take-it-or-leave-it option. he left it, we hired Mike Price instead. good times

its rolling baby

Speaking like a true UGA fan backing CMR.

Richt has been at GA a lot longer so I can see why 9 wins might not be enough... outside looking in most would feel that GA has a lot more upside then Nebraska, plus the ceiling & expectations are higher.. Nebraska is not going back to the good ole days.... that ship has sailed
